I decided to go in today to get my college graduation nails done. I started my session with Kelly. I showed her the design I wanted and I want to emphasize that she said she was able to do them, and we got to work. The first plastic set of nails she put on, I made the mistake of telling her they were too long. Which she corrected. She did the length she said she thought was best and I rolled with it because I decided to trust her. She did the base which was a neutral beige which I don't usually do unless I have a design over it, and whenever it was time to draw the design she started pulling some stickers out? I was confused because I've gotten nail art done here before, and the picture I showed her had nail art, so i was confused as to why she was doing that. She also never asked me if I wanted stickers, and she never asked me if I wanted art. I asked her if she was able to draw them instead, she said they didn't have the right things for that art style, so I told her that was fine, I just wanted the shape of the flower. She said that wasn't possible at all. I started getting frustrated because she never said this in the beginning. Had she said that, I would've told her "thank you for your time", gotten up, and left before she could touch my nails. However she didn't. I kept scrolling through Pinterest trying to find the right nails for me and for my graduation pictures. I couldn't find a single one because the color was already applied, and the nails were already shaped. It would've been a total waste of her time! I was so frustrated and it never once crossed my mind to tell her to just take them off and I'll pay for a soak off instead. I really wish I did now, but I didn't want to seem like a Karen. Instead I chose some mediocre butterflies (which are falling off btw, this is why I don't do stickers) and called it a day. I was mid tearing up, almost crying because I'm going to have to contact my photographer and tell him to push the dates back for my graduation pictures until I can find an actual nail tech and spend even more money. Leaving, I was crying and my boyfriend tried to make it better by asking the manager to find a compromise. The manager tried to explain to him how a service works. We both work in the service industry, so we're very aware of how it works. He said I "had time to say no" which I was never offered any way to take them off, I was never offered an out. Just a "when you figure out the design you can come back." I don't live near here. I am just so loyal to this place because I've been coming here for 6 years now. To the point where driving an hour is okay. She never even suggested any kind of discount. I know that's not something you usually do, but I was so incredibly upset because these are the most important nails of my life next to my future wedding. Which was why I was so stressed out and frustrated. I am so disappointed in how this experience turned out that I might never come back, which is so sad because I usually enjoy the service. So thank you Kelly, for ruining this experience for me and for having me push back some very important events, and for not offering me much to the honest. Anyone reading this, thank you for staying. ALL my nails are GONE after ONLY 5 DAYS. look, i've only left 2 other reviews in my 23 years of life & one wasn't even for me it was for a friend & the other was for a tattoo shop who did a memorial tattoo with ashes. i NEVER do this, that's how HORRIBLE, UPSET, & just simply feel i WASTED $54, ON TOP OF THAT I TIPPED $5 went in ( called before hand & they accept walk ins ) i just wanted a pretty simple acrylic set !! they told me it would be a bit of a wait until a chair opened which i had no issue with. everything felt like a nice setting, the people were nice, HOWEVER the male nail tech i had didn't pay much attention to me. he engaged in NO conversation. i sat in silence almost the whole entire time. i noticed his area was a bit dirty, he got dust & powder ALL over my face & clothes, & the glue he used on my nails was almost completely dried out & had no lid on it. however i went through, trusted the process, cured them & everything. when he first did my set, i thought they looked great minus a line that was a bit messed up, but they were cute. AFTER 2 DAYS they started popping straight off. kind of like i was wearing press ons or a diy nail kit. on the 5th day of me having my nails THEYRE COMPLETELY GONE. POPPED COMPLETELY OFF. it's day 6 now & i am DEVASTATED. i'll post pics below of the process through the 5 days. ( LET ME BE CLEAR : i don't have the longest or prettiest nails, but i've had my nails done PLENTY & NEVER had a nail just pop off after a couple days. having a nail break ? yea of course, but these just popped right off like they were never even glued down. So I finally came to Avalon after searching high & low for a new nail salon. Based upon previous reviews, I knew to get there early before they got super busy. So I came in on a Friday morning around 9:50am, note they opened at 9:30am & they were already packed. Luckily, I only waited maybe 5 minutes and one of the owners (the wife) had me sit down & I provided a picture of the nails I wanted. Mainly stating the shape & nail color minus the designs. She stated they didn't have the exact color I wanted but two close options. The one I ended up selecting is probably one of best nail colors I have ever had. The best part about having her do my nails was that I never had to ask her to fix anything. She created the perfect shape with a smooth application of powder. Plus she was quick so that was plus but it wasn't a rushed job by all means. I'll say this again as I've said it before, if at any time during your service you aren't satisfied SPEAK UP! I'm tired of seeing people complain AFTER the fact leaving bad reviews. You get what you pay for so speak up until someone fixes your nails the way you like. If they can't do what you want then leave & don't have them waste their time doing something you clearly don't like. Business is business so handle things accordingly at the time of service -- it's your money being spent. My only downside was that they didn't offer any refreshments. I understand that I may look a bit young to be drinking alcohol but even a bottle of water would've sufficed. I knew they provided drinks because I seen others sippin' away but I guess it wasn't quite on their mind. I mainly care about quality nail service so I can live without a cup of wine lol. I've been dying to try this place because the reviews were pretty good but I guess they are mainly for gel and dip nails. I have an issue where gel and acrylic nails don't adhere properly and they will start peeling/lifting after a couple of days so I always get a regular polish mani/pedi. This was one of the worst I've ever had. They used the Dremel to smooth my nails but did it so long, my nails were paper thin on the ends. They were chipping and breaking at the tips almost immediately. Then, he did not use a base coat on my nails. Just applied the color polish directly on the nail. The polish was flaking off after a couple days since I was having to cut and file them as they chipped, so I went to remove it and my nails are stained bright pink from the red polish. I have repeatedly used polish remover to try and get the pink to come off and it is not happening. Pedi was ok but nothing special. Will not be back. It's too bad because I've been looking for a new nail salon closer to my house but this is not it. read more

We were nearby when we saw the promotion for the mani + pedi combo and decided to give this place a try. We came inside and the place was packed and not many seats to sit down. My mom didn't want a pedi, and since I did, a gentleman sat me down at that station while I waited for a different technician. When we finally got to the part where she was painting my toe nails, she seems very distracted. She kept talking to the tech next to us. Which is fine! I don't mind at all! However, I could tell that they were gossiping about the client next to me! It was pretty obvious and very uncomfortable. My tech gestured her head towards the lady next to me which caused her tech to look up at her and then laugh as they looked her up and down. (The lady was talking to her friend on her left). When my mom was getting her nails done, she kept telling the nail tech how she would like her nails. I was seated next to her and saw the nail tech tell my mom "No, this is fine!" Excuse me ma'am?? Her nail tech kept disregarding what my mom was asking of her. Very rude lady. Overall a disappointing experience. Just awful. I would recommend to NOT come here. I went there to have a new set pit on and my other ones removed. When the nail tech was removing my nails she removed them by pulling them off and that was super painful. When she was finishing my nails they were all different sizes some were longer than others and when I let her know it seemed like she was bothered by it. Disgusted with this salon! Never coming back again! I have gone to a million nail salons and they have done shitty work, charged an arm/leg for some bullshit work and/or acted like they can talk to me any kind of way when I mention that I'm not satisfied. They don't like when you say you don't like something or they'll try their best to persuade you to thinking that your whole finger is crooked. All to prevent you from making them start over. Yesterday, I went into Avalon Salon in garland and I got my nails done by this lady. She did a terrible job from the very beginning. I asked her politely to correct things and she complained the whole time and did nothing. I didn't have time to stay and make her correct the whole thing because I was pushed for time....(mind you I spent 3hours there getting a mani & pedi). I went to Avalon nail salon today for the second time and was disrespected by the manager. I called him and told him that I was on the way to get my nails fixed because I was unsatisfied with them. He said it was cool then when I sat in his chair, he proceeded to pick and choose what he was going to fix. I said, "No sir, you are either going to give me my money back or fix all of this". He yelled and screamed and told me that if I wanted them redone again then I would have to pay. I politely explained to him that there was no reason to yell and scream at me for requesting this. Also, as a business owner you have no right to do as you please and expect me to pay for it. After going back and forth with him, he finally agreed to redo them after I told him that I would call the Department of State and file a complaint. Honey, his whole mood shifted after that, he started being nice and acting like I was Queen Elizabeth. Sir, I'm not the one to play with..... I will get lawyers involved so try me! Long story short I am tired of spending my money at salons who don't value my money or don't respect me. There is no reason I should feel on edge for expressing my constitutional rights. I got an ombré new set finger nails, and eyebrows done today by Kelly. I also got a pedicure that was pretty good. Everyone here are really good at what they do. I've had my nails done in the past by John, Ann, Pam, and Lucy, and surprisingly they all did a good job. Its also a plus that they are open 7 days a week, yes, even on Sundays. So far they've been nice and friendly. They always offer something to drink. Now the downfall for me is that they don't allow appointments. It's a walk in, wait your turn type of place. My average wait so far has been from 30 mins to 1hr. It varies depending on the day, time, or especially an approaching holiday. read more

I have gone to avalon for over a year now because of the reviews and always hope for the best yet it never comes. Everytime I go they find someway to screw me over, whether its the shape or the color or whatever. This was my last straw as i suffer from anxiety and I would never stand up for myself and I did and i'm glad I did. I asked for a color not knowing the color I wanted was solar powder and no one explained that to me yet I waited to see if my nails would turn out fine. The shape was all wonky and uneven, this is not almond shape this is closer to oval if anything. The lady who did my nails was so rushed and didn't even bother to properly do them which I understand after a long day but this is a service I pay out of my own pocket for my own enjoyment. After they were done I was left feeling uneasy and unsatisfied with my nails and they made me feel incredibly ugly, I went back as I was just in the parking lot and explained the situation of how I either wanted a refund or to be able to redo them as I have somewhere to be at 7. The man who talked to me was so condescending and rude saying "If you knew that wasn't the color you wanted you should have said something" As if I hadn't already mentioned it was not the color I had chosen out to begin with. Was told they could do fix them just this time since he wanted us all to leave "happy" and it was just such an unprofessional and uncomfortable experience because he kept raising his voice and other customers turned to see what was going on. I waited and the lady who did my nails looked so pissed off being so rough while clipping my nails off and filing them down. Genuinely have never had this bad of an experience here but even before the nails I would always get were never up to what I wanted and what I knew they could do. Since I've found Avalon I've been back religious every two weeks to get a new set. I even have my friends stop by when coming in from out of town. Anna knows what she's doing as well as everyone else, they know what your talking about when asking for designs, colors, and shapes with you until your happy. Do NOT go here. It was a horrible experience. The place is NOT sanitary. It was stuffy, disorganized, messy, and understaffed. The lady doing my pedicure was rough, in a hurry, and did not want to fix her mistakes. Her coworker angrily switched with her to help me, told me I was "picky" and told me my nails were "bumpy and she couldn't do anything about that." Really?!! Ridiculous. You spend $50-$60. We're not asking for something for free. We're paying good money for a good job. It was stressful and one of the worst experiences. The management is horrible. No appointment book and customers waiting, arguing back and forth about appointments over the phone... I'm going to be filing a formal complaint. That business is not in shape to be serving customers. read more
