What I expected to be a routine cosmetic procedure unfortunately resulted in a much more difficult outcome for me (photos attached). Shortly after the treatment, leaky blisters formed, and about a week later they developed into scabs on the treated areas. When the scabs eventually came off, many areas appeared indented and concerning. During virtual follow-up consultations, I was told the healing process appeared to be normal. However, my skin continued to worsen, and I later sought care at an emergency room, where the injuries were documented as burns and I was referred for dermatologic follow-up. Avalon Laser offered additional treatment options, including a CO laser session or microneedling at their facility, and also suggested that I see a dermatologist in the Los Angeles area. I did undergo one CO laser session with Avalon Laser, but I ultimately decided not to continue treatment at the clinic because I no longer felt comfortable proceeding there. To their credit, the clinic checked in with me virtually on a regular basis and offered encouragement during the healing process. However, my recovery has been much longer and more challenging than I expected based on how my skin appeared. Since then, I have consulted with several specialists and undergone multiple treatments in an effort to improve my skin. The recovery process has been lengthy, painful, and uncertain. The clinic refunded the cost of the original treatment, which I appreciated, but it has not come close to covering the many additional medical visits, treatments, medications, and skincare products I have needed since then. The emotional impact has also been very difficult. For weeks I struggled to sleep and often cried at night. I became withdrawn and stopped seeing friends because I felt embarrassed about my appearance. What began as a simple cosmetic procedure has turned into a long and ongoing recovery. I attempted to pursue compensation through legal counsel and sent a demand letter, but I did not receive a response. I also followed up by email without success. I am sharing my personal experience so that others can be aware and carefully consider their options before undergoing treatment. To have confidence restored and the relief of liking what you see in the mirror is invaluable, and I am so thankful to have trusted Ryann with this process. Before I left, I was able to see Heidi as a last minute add on for under eye filler. Ryann recommended her as she is proficient in under eye filler, and I appreciated her setting me up with the best fit for that particular service. Heidi was incredibly thorough, detailed, professional, and a master of her craft! She also took the time to explain the healing process which I appreciated! For my results- I am thrilled. Not just happy, but THRILLED. I saw an immediate difference from the fillers alone, but it's now been almost a week since the treatments and the Daxxify is LIFE CHANGING. The "Daxxify glow" is SO real, my face is literally glowing to where I've had multiple people comment on it. The wrinkles/crows feet are GONE. We did a Nefertiti neck lift and I am ecstatic about this in particular, my chin has always been my biggest insecurity and this has made a NOTICEABLE improvement! I know full results for the Daxxify take around two weeks, but I'm already just elated not even a week in. I will be returning to Ryann for every single med spa treatment in the future, I will literally never go anywhere else. In my experience, the sales team uses misleading sales tactics to encourage customers to purchase additional services, even when they already have credits for services available in their accounts. Rather than prioritizing customer needs or clearly explaining existing account balances, the focus seems to be on generating additional sales. I originally purchased $1,972.96 worth of services. After deciding not to continue with LaserAway, I requested a refund for unused services. Despite my concerns, I received only $551 back to my original payment method. I escalated the matter to LaserAway's corporate customer service department and was assured that someone from the finance department would contact me. Unfortunately, that call never came, and I have received no meaningful follow-up or explanation. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is the combination of uncomfortable and misleading sales interactions, a lack of professionalism, and the company's failure to adequately address customer concerns after receiving payment. When customers are purchasing personal aesthetic treatments, trust, transparency, professionalism, and comfort should be top priorities. Unfortunately, my experience at LaserAway Carlsbad fell far short of those expectations. Unfortunately during the first treatment my face was burned and I ended up with deep purple bruises and blisters. I had to stay home for a week until the blisters subsided. My face became more red than before the treatment. I was told that the next two sessions would give me the expected results, but they did not. My face became very sensitive and the redness didn't go away. I noticed deeper broken capillaries in the areas where I was burned. When I expressed my concerns Sydney simply shook her head and said: "there is always a risk". My risk was in her hands. Her job was to assess my skin type, select the appropriate filters and correctly adjust the laser's energy setting, but she is either inexperienced or incapable. After contacting Sydney again I got a call from the owner, Stacy Grissen and she set up an appointment for me to come to see her the fallowing week.The day of the appointment Stacy called me and with an aggressive tone of voice informed me that she was cancelling our meeting, (BTW if I cancelled an appointment the same day they would charge a fee). She said that I snapped my fingers in front of Sydney's face, which is a complete lie... and btw why wait a week to cancel an appointment? I guess she decided to be offensive rather than being concerned that her employee did damage to my face.The way she treated me is inappropriate and dishonest. I am writing this to warn anyone who is thinking of using this business : go there at your own peril. There is no place for a business like this in our beautiful community of Encinitas.
