In an environment where seat-of-the pants retail and subterranean customer service still cowers behind pandemic inspired staffing issues, Avalon Flooring in Langhorne, PA is as impressive a business as I can remember. We used them for a master bathroom and kitchen remodel three years ago and were beyond impressed but yesterday's visit took my cynicism to the woodshed and beat it out of me. Upon entering our previous sales rep, Rob Meredith looked up and without skipping a beat asked us how our vanities were working out and guided us through some options for a refresh of a small bathroom. Who does that in the current climate of rapidly evaporating expectations when some Big Box personnel can barely remember the name of their parole officer much less individual customers. I'm surprised by the positive reviews here. My husband and I went to Avalon today to get a price on new carpet throughout our house. Upon entering the store, there were employees talking at the front counter, so we went back to the carpet area to start looking. No one bothered to come back to us. We were in the store approximately 15 minutes without being greeted or asked if we needed help. We went to leave the two employees were still at the front. They stopped talking, looked at us, then resumed their conversation. Earlier today, we went to two of their competitors and were greeted the instant we entered and received great service. read more

We were there at least 45 minutes and the help we got was minimal. One guy was brand new and the other guy had no clue. We asked about hardwood and then we asked about carpet. They were clueless. Our budget was $25,000 for new carpeting or hardwood for just the upstairs alone. We picked up a couple samples up ourselves and then signed them out but decided to go with a smaller store because we felt we got personal service. read more

I stopped by Avalon last week to check into some flooring for a home improvement project. The showroom was really nice with lots of different options in laminate, vinyl, hardwood etc. I thought the salesman, John, was outstanding. He explained the measuring and installation process and showed me a variety of materials. However, the one big failing at Avalon is that almost none of the flooring they have on display is not available in a reasonable time frame. I was told that most of the styles I liked were out of stock and that it would take 6 to 8 weeks at least to get it. As I later found out, this is definitely not the norm at area stores. I stopped by Home Depot 5 minutes down the road and found plenty of designs in stock or available for a quick delivery. Also Home Depot's pricing was over 20% cheaper for comparable products. I totally get that Covid-19 has disrupted supply chains but it seems like some stores are better equipped to handle the pressure than others. I hope things work out for Avalon in the future. read more

i visited the Oxford Valley store to make my purchases for 2 bathroom renovations last month and this month. I worked with Jen for both and she is just amazing. She helped me with all my selections of tile, grout, trim, etc. Her knowledge and ideas were a great help. I highly recommend this location to anyone. Tom is AMAZING! Besides the fact that as soon as I met him I felt like we'd been friends for a long time, he listened to what I wanted and ran with it. He gave his opinion, offered me many choices, and pointed me away from the expensive stuff after I told him I had a budget. Most importantly, whenever I sent him an email questioning my choices, or changing my mind (several times) he always answered my emails and never made me feel like a pain in the neck!!! Recently had our bedroom floor done. Sales rep at the store was GREAT! Had to send a rep out to measure and give a price. You feel kind of pressured to sign with this person so we did. The install tool a day and they had furniture to move around. Overall the install was okay, but our estimate "included" painted 3-1/4" baseboard - they were white, but not painted. Would have given four stars, but there was ZERO follow up after the install! Guess they figure no news is good news. read more

Tom Nightlinger was amazing to work with! He made the process of choosing the tile and bathroom vanities for the upcoming renovation of our kitchen and two bathrooms stress-free and fun at the same time. He listened to what we had envisioned for the spaces and was able to incorporate each type of tile we liked somewhere into the projects. Tom was thorough, patient, and knowledgeable about all of the products they sell. He was organized with all of the paperwork and very accessible and responsive when we had any questions or needed to set up an appointment. We were able to take tile samples home to see how they looked in our spaces too. Once we had the order complete he met with our contractor to review the order to make sure we will have everything we need when we start our project. He will even be working with him on the pickup of the materials at the start of the project. He definitely exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend Tom for your next project! The entire staff was always friendly and helpful when Tom wasn't in and we stopped in to look at something or just browse before making our final decisions. This Avalon location also has a large selection of high quality bathroom vanities to choose from. We stopped by the Avalon Flooring showroom in Langhorne, Pa on a quiet Sunday afternoon just as they were closing to look at carpets. Tom was so nice. He took out carpets for us to see even though he was getting ready to close. Knowing we were going to refurbish a bathroom we quickly looked at tile and found what we were looking for. We subsequently went back to the Langhorne store because of Tom's patients on our prior visit. He was very helpful as we agonized over the right shade of "blue" tile. We thought we had everything "nailed down" but on a subsequent visit to the showroom, we did a 360 on the tile for the shower walls. Again, Tom was patient and polite and helped us to finally come up with the right color "aqua" for the shower walls. All the tile supplies are being delivered this week--we will let you know more about the remodeling experience after we complete tiling the shower walls and flooring. I could have gone to the Avalon Tile store in Ocean City, NJ where I live, but because of Tom's patients and demeanor I wanted to work with Tom. Judie L. read more

I will preface this review by saying the final product has not yet been delivered I am very please with my experience so far. Sales rep Guy addresses me right away and listened to what I needed and wanted. He offered several options and explained them well. No pressure at all. I used their financing option to get two floors put down and the official measurements take place this Friday. When I told Guy I would do a review for this great experience he asked me to wait til I had it all delivered. I told him no need to wait. I was happy now and would do a follow up once we were finished. Great place to 10/16 The carpets were installed efficiently by two friendly guys and those rooms look so much nicer. I was very please with Rob Meredith ... he approached me shortly after I entered the store. He was very knowledgeable and thorough with his help on rugs. He listened to what I was looking for and was diligent in finding what I was looking for. The woman (sorry, I don't recall her name) who did the measurements was very pleasant and her measurements were spot on! Rob even made a follow-up call to me after the measurement! I had my rugs installed on August 3rd...I could tell that the installers were doing an excellent job and I sure was right...outstanding job! I had been to the showroom a few weeks ago and was overwhelmed with the variety of tiles. My contactor told me to return and talk to one of the consultants. Today, weighted down with my contractors 'must have ' list, I walked into the showroom and asked for help. James said he would be happy to assist with whatever I needed. He spent 2 hours with me while I chose all the products I would need to completely revamp two bathrooms in my home. Customer service staff is very nasty to customers that follow up with problems after the floor is installed. Following installation, my new vinyl floor tore in spots and I was asked what I was doing to it. Apparently just walking on it is a problem. It lasted less than 1 year. I contacted a different company for ongoing repairs so I didn't have to be berated by the Warrington, PA staff for walking on my new floor. read more
