Pickup was quick at the rear of the building and the guys who loaded up my vehicle were very careful and professional. Their showroom was clean and organized. They kept asking me to pay the balance, I told them they had to fix the floor under the refrigerator, two more visits later, they got it level, but the rest of the floor, they have refused to address or respond to. Floors I had never seen before until the renovation. The hallway floors also had tile on them which was underneath the carpet. Lucky all the floors were still in pretty good shape. My original kitchen contractor had pulled up the carpet and tile and sanded them. However, we parted ways before the job was done and I reached out to AC&T to do the floors because of their great reviews. It was true. Kevin amd his team are great! Kevin initially came out and looked at my floors, talked to me about what I wanted to do, made suggestions. The price for us was good and so we booked with them. We stayed in an airbnb for a few days while they worked on the floors because I was having them stained and we wouldn't be able to walk on them. The team came in and re-sanded all the floors including the steps and made them so much better. They also reinforced the steps and filled in any wood gaps all around. Maurice came out very promptly after I contacted him and he straight-up told me that a patch-job wouldn't work inside my house. He explained the list of mistakes that were made during the original installation, which occurred before we moved in. He pointed out that not only did the builders choose the cheapest material possible, but they did not prepare the sub-floor adequately and now my flooring is cracking, disconnecting, and the surface is bumpy/rolling. Maurice gave me quotes for the porch project and to redo all of my main-level flooring. Both quotes were completely reasonable, but my husband and I opted to deal with the main floor issue when it's time for us to sell this house and move out. For now we just bought a super-large area rug! I did retain Maurice for the porch project, and since it was so small he was able to send Dale over on a day when someone else had cancelled. Dale arrived right when Maurice said he would, and the project took 3.5 hours total. I am impressed with the finished project and very pleased with Maurice's consistent communication and honesty. Anyone who's been through this kind of thing before knows that some folks just disappear (like someone who never followed-through and sent me the quote they promised) or others just tell you what you want to hear (like the guy who said he COULD patch my living room floor). When the time comes to replace our main floors, I would not hesitate to use Maurice again. He's a small-business owner, a man of color, and a veteran. The gentleman that answered was a bit "put off" when I asked his name and got the standard, "well who is this"? I introduced myself and explained that they had done work for us before, and I wanted to see if they could help me out. I was asked where I bought the flooring, and I responded Lowe's. Then I got a "we will not install flooring purchased from Lowe's" No explanation, no nothing. That will be the LAST time I EVER call A & J and if their "m.o. is to be rude, they are successful!!
