Wentz came highly recommended by another contractor who did our upstairs ceilings. The estimate was very reasonable for what we wanted done--all of the hardwood in 3 rooms, an upstairs hall and the steps to the second level. On an early Monday morning Tom showed and we went over the final request, agreeing on some additional work. Since I pulled up the carpet and tack strips and yanked the tacks (took about 7 hours of my time) Tom agreed to do the additional work with no additional charge (he originally was going to deduct my time from his estimate. After our agreement, my wife and I left for a week in the Poconos (too much dust would appear from the sanding; the floor coverings had their associated odor; and we wouldn't have been able to navigate around the home). When we came home we were awe-struck--it was like Ty Pennington's "Extreme Home Makeover"; however, unfortunately for Tom, he wasn't here on the Sunday of our return to experience our excitement and pleasure with the looks of the "new" floors; they are gorgeous and the additional work that Tom completed made them all the better. Tom has photos and, since he seems as proud of his work as we are pleased with the end result, I am certain that he will share them if asked. Clearly after doing the first room, I realized that the work was a bit more involved than my knees would take. I reached out to A & J to get a quote on having them do the second room as I have had work done by them 3 times before and all jobs were a success!! I did not get the telephone. The gentleman that answered was a bit "put off" when I asked his name and got the standard, "well who is this"? I introduced myself and explained that they had done work for us before, and I wanted to see if they could help me out. I was asked where I bought the flooring, and I responded Lowe's. Then I got a "we will not install flooring purchased from Lowe's" No explanation, no nothing. That will be the LAST time I EVER call A & J and if their "m.o. is to be rude, they are successful!! They don't shave/cut bedroom and closet doors to fit once you have new carpeting installed. They had to know this would happen- I replaced cheap carpeting with new 1/4 in plywood, thick padding, and carpet. So my flooring looks great, but my house not so much since 3 closet and 2 bedroom doors are missing. Now it's up to me to find a contractor who will take care of this small problem (a big one for me- not safe to have no bedroom doors in case of fire).

Refused to call me at work to discuss after my wife told them to repeatedly. The next day, They were behind schedule because of this, I got them to tear out the old tile, but they left the floor VERY uneven, you can fell it moving under your feet in some places, The refrigerator was so uneven, the doors did not close properly. They kept asking me to pay the balance, I told them they had to fix the floor under the refrigerator, two more visits later, they got it level, but the rest of the floor, they have refused to address or respond to. I paid the balance, let them know it was under protest. They could not care less. Buyer beware!

I had our first floor renovated in the house my grandparents bought in 1949. Underneath the dining…read moreroom and hallway carpet were the original floors made of Oak and Pine respectively. Floors I had never seen before until the renovation. The hallway floors also had tile on them which was underneath the carpet. Lucky all the floors were still in pretty good shape. My original kitchen contractor had pulled up the carpet and tile and sanded them. However, we parted ways before the job was done and I reached out to AC&T to do the floors because of their great reviews. It was true. Kevin amd his team are great! Kevin initially came out and looked at my floors, talked to me about what I wanted to do, made suggestions. The price for us was good and so we booked with them. We stayed in an airbnb for a few days while they worked on the floors because I was having them stained and we wouldn't be able to walk on them. The team came in and re-sanded all the floors including the steps and made them so much better. They also reinforced the steps and filled in any wood gaps all around. I was quite pleased with their work and would highly recommend to others. Kevin and his team are totally professional and get the job done.
