Avalon Dairy next to Old Farmhouse Kitchen can easily be one of my happy places! I love how I can find something yummy for my tummy whenever I visit. I especially enjoy their savory items for breakfast and lunch. It's a great place to buy Avalon products and it's refreshing to just get a snack such as a big scoop of ice cream or coffee with pastries items like an apple strudel and chocolate brownies while buying milk, eggs or yogurt etc. Their staff are friendly and would offer to warm up the foods so you can enjoy it on site, either at the dining area or outside on the benches. It's a convenient stop to buy dairy products - easy to park and return the Avalon glass bottles each trip. I also like that they carry specialty items like goat milk and mango kefir. The option to sit and dine in at Old Farmhouse Kitchen makes for a welcoming and cozy ambiance. Also, the cows are super cute at the entrance way and always makes me smile! 5 stars for being a happy place to pick up Avalon products and yummy foods :) read more

Been wanting to check out this store for a while and waited until I came here to try Avalon for the first time. The organic standard (with cream cap) and chocolate milk did not disappoint. Both were really rich and tasted very pure. They were also cheaper than retail stores, although you would need to return the bottles to get back the $1.50 deposit. We also tried the ice cream which was so creamy, although a touch expensive. They also had cheeses and a small selection of sandwiches and food to order. Overall, I'd recommended checking out for high quality dairy! read more

This is where you can buy Avalon Dairy from the source omitting the middle man or wholesaler. The prices here ranges from $2 to $4 cheaper than if you were to buy from the groceries. From now on, I will just buy organic milk here. For $3.19 for a 1 litre bottle is not bad. Great products. They do charge a deposit of $1.50 for the glass bottle. One thing to note is that their hours. So on weekdays do come before 5:30 pm. read more

Went there to deposit my milk bottles. Staff were very friendly and approachable. Did not eat food because wasn't hungry but saw someone with a huge cup of ice cream. Looks pretty value! read more

I don't know what it is about milk in glass bottles but I love it. They have a hot food deli with an abundance of options. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and delicious. The staff is absolutely amazing and pleasant, the decor is a bit dated but reminds me of mom's place back in the day. So it has a cozy feel for me, if you like a greasy spoon tube vibe and food stop in and check it out you won't be disappointed. Oh also if you have any Avalon glass bottles you can take them in for a deposit which can be significant depending on size and volume of bottles. read more

Avalon Dairy - Waiting at stable for my order, place reminds me of big momma's house - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

I am so happy to find this place. I just cannot believe it took me so long to realize this place is nearby and along my commute to work. Never too late though. It is a small store shared with the deli kitchen. You can get both organic and regular milk, eggs, sour cream and yoghurt. The prices are definitely cheaper than in grocery stores. There are many types of cheese too. The milk is sold in both glass bottles (with refundable deposit) cartons. The ice cream is so good too. This shall be my place to get my dairy products now. read more

There is something about going to the source that makes the trip fun out here, granted you can buy Avalon milk almost everywhere now, but it's just a happy place to come to, and when you do come, you notice that many others come and bring their empty's for return and load up on more of this moo-moo liquid. Milk is milk... hold up here, no so, Avalon is the best local milk here, hands down, and if you are a lover of milk you probably already are downing a glass right now in the late nights before you go to sleep. The place is hooked up directly to their plant, and the store is one part retail, one part cafeteria, yes.. it's not only milk you buy here, but you can get a lunch or hot snack, or maybe a cold ice cream cone. I come here having a mission, but when you smell the foods coming out of the kitchen you can feel your hand reaching for more money to feed yourself, and for all good reason, the prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. Getting back to the store, whatever milk you are looking for, from homo, 1%, 2%, chocolate, kefir, organic, they have you covered, and in their awesome glass bottles that have a deposit fee. They also have cheese's, yogurt (try the honey triple cream!!!!), chips (Hardbite) eggs and other things and this is part of my grocery run (sorry grocery stores) as I like to come here to buy my milk. Just remember to clean your bottles before bringing them back! read more

Really like their organic milk! The store is not that big but they have a good selection of Avalon products (milk, yogurt, cheese ice cream). The cheese and milk is cheaper than other big name grocery stores. I go here near the end of the day and there's lots of parking. The staff are so helpful too. read more

In the midst of all the industrial buildings on N Fraser Way (just off of Marine Drive) is a little gem for dairy lovers. Avalon Dairy sells regular and organic milk products right from the source so that means you cut out the middle men. What does that mean? Lower prices and fresher merchandise. Grocery stores don't carry their full line of products and usually carry only Avalon's milk, but when you're at the headquarters, you get the works. They sell everything from milk, butter, cheese, sour cream, yogurt, egg and ice cream. I promise you that their ice cream is just as good, if not better than gourmet ice cream parlors and with the added bonus of being organic. Avalon Dairy sells them by pints or scoops so I've always been able to treat myself to a cone every time I replenish the milk supply for my daughter. read more

The mothership of Avalon Dairy also features a small take-out deli. Milk is way cheaper here than at other retail outlets. Of course, the only reason to drive to this business park is to get the coveted Avalon chocolate milk in a bottle. You've got to taste this nectar! On a side note, make sure you clean your glass bottles out and remove the plastic lids prior to returning them. They are nice folks, but they get a bit "soup nazish" about the bottles. I swear to God I have always returned the suckers in a clean state, but I have broken the rule with regards to the lid still being attached. read more

Avalon Dairy - Avalon Dairy & Deli Burnaby - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

Organic dairy is the ideal choice health-wise, but from a food lover's perspective, nothing beats its flavour, especially when the producer is based right out of Vancouver. That's as fresh as it can get. Retailers that carry Avalon's product are usually limited to milk but the Avalon store carries the full line of standard and organic milk, butter, sour cream, cheeses, yogourt, ice cream, as well as organic eggs. The organic chocolate milk is to die for -- just note that it comes homogenized only. It is quite minimally sweetened, which is my preference, but sugar addicts may beg to differ. Avalon's original farm was located in the middle of a residential area in the heart of East Van, with a storefront selling their renowned organic milk and dairy products. They have since moved their operations and store to Burnaby, which is a more convenient location for me. Now I can buy it more often and at much lower prices compared to the retailers. If you happen to be hungry while doing your milk run, there is also an eat-in deli serving up hot sandwiches, soups, pizza and their organic ice cream. Makes perfect sense for a dairy operation located in an industrial complex. Love!!!!! read more

You might come here for Vancouver's best organic milk. Maybe you come here for the excellent and friendly service. I'm here for the ice cream! It's so fresh and delicious, you can tell it was made like a few minutes ago. Ok maybe not that fresh, but try any flavor and you won't be disappointed. You might just bump into me sitting in the car having a double scooper. read more

**Most delicious Chocolate Milk Evar!!** The hubby swears by Avalon Dairy's chocolate milk. He drinks it so much that he basically uses the 1 litre glass bottle as his personal reusable cup. This dairy location is a place where we can get Avalon dairy milk for cheaper than at the supermarket, plus they have other things like ice cream, yogurt, eggs, and cheeses. You can also return bottles at this location, although they really want you to have the bottles cleaned and lids off. If you buy 6 bottles of milk, then there is also a discount. Periodically they will have discounts on various items like ice cream, or milk, just to clear them out I suppose. All in all, a great way to save money on delicious organic milk. :) Plus there is an awesome lunchtime place called Sean's Good Eats attached to the dairy where you can have a good soup and sandwich before hauling your dairy products home. read more

This review is regarding their tiny cafe. I wasn't really sure about the ordering process at first. But after going twice, I got it down pat. Walk in door, line up behind the glass, order, turn left grab your chocolate milk, go to cashier, pay for it, grab a table and then wait to pick up your order. The food is great. I usually have what ever is on special so I can try something different. They taste like it was made fresh. read more

This is the only place I know of to purchase organic NON-homogenized milk. Homogenization was invented to extend milk shelf life and so that consumer would not have to deal with floating butterfat. BUT homogenization of milk changes the fat molecules so that the fat in homogenized milk goes almost directly to our bloodstreams instead of the old-fashioned way to our stomachs to be digested and then to our livers to be removed by our bodies. My discovery of this outlet will surely improve my next blood test results! Further to Alexander M's June 6 2017 comment: I bought a mouthwatering cookie last week and had no issues with sanitary handling of the food...tongs, straight into a parchment bag. read more

Made the trek over the toll bridge to see what was here. I was happy to see a wide variety of milk, cream, butter, eggs and ice cream. . .all things I like to buy organically, and some even on sale. It was also cheaper than in stores (although with the toll it came out to about the same). However, the choices were nice to have. We made an outing of it and had brunch there in the little cafe. It was good and reasonably priced. The best part was the delicious milkshake that two of us shared because it was so huge. I will be back for my dairy/egg basics! read more

Really good organic milk. Their chocolate milk is really tasty. I usually come here to get organic butter also-it's one of the best butter I ever tasted. A little bit pricier than other dairy products, howev, u get $1 back when I return their glass Containers!! read more

The chocolate milk here is delicious. To appreciate how delicious it actually is, drink it after drinking normal chocolate milk, so amazing. This dairy also has a nice deli which serves things like melts and beef dips as well as milkshakes! It's a bit off the beaten path but that makes it a special hidden gem. read more

While I have purchased the milk at save on, I had never been here personally. Not sure what to expect, I was very pleasantly surprised. We decided to sit and have some americanos (which were great btw) and they didnt even expect us to pay until we were done and had picked what we were buying! The owner of the restaurant part surprised us with two fruit salads, he said they were closed tomorrow and he didn't want them to go to waste :) so friendly. We bought some milk and frozen soup, the frozen chicken potato soup was amazing. The one we bought had expanded and cracked so the owner through in another little one for free! He was so nice, we couldn't believe it actually. We will defnitely be back (with our many returns as the bottles always sit around our house haha) read more

I adore the organic products here, they clear out products close to expiry at a crazy discounted price. Highly recommend. read more

Come here for the farm fresh milk, ice cream, cheese and homemade soup. In the summers they also make milkshakes!!!!

I recently purchased Avalon Dairy's organic cottage cheese, cream cheese and yogurt. I enjoyed every bit and they were all amazingly delicious; different than other non organic in texture and taste and I preferred Avalon's products over other organic dairy products. I am happy to have this product available on the grocery shelves on Vancouver Island. I love organic foods and the sustainable healthy planet farming practices that go along with producing organic foods. The beautiful cows have an exceptional quality of life too! Thank you for all the care, attention, extra time and energy that is required in ensuring your dairy products are nutritious, organic, and awesomely tasty! Carolyn B. Victoria, BC read more

Found this place by accident while driving in the industrial park area. I saw an unusual amount of people in the business complex and decided to check it out and discovered it was a dairy store. Non stop people going into the store to buy $$$ milk and eggs. I decided to try the organic eggs, organic homo milk and chocolate milk. The chocolate milk is less sweet than what you find at Costco and superstore. The organic eggs taste the same as Costco organic eggs. I have gone 3x in the past month to buy 1.89 LTR of conventional chocolate milk for $5.31 + $2 glass bottle deposit. It's a novelty that will probably wear out for me in a few months. But this place looks like it will always be busy even without me buying my one bottle of milk per week. My friend is semi-lactose intolerant but can drink Avalon milk products and not have stomach issues. read more

I like cheese, dairies, and all things farm, and Avalon make good dairy products generally, who doesn't love those bottles or their eggnog right?. Nothing too daring, no crazy blue cheeses , ice creams or anything, just safe products. and good safe flavors (unlike Island Farms and some others eg Raspberry Cheesecake, etc). So I'm here to comment on my crappy impression of the kitchen which I tried yesterday. I had a ham/swiss heated in a panini press, it was ok, but unremarkable and hard to screw up. The 'Cream of Mushroom' soup for $4.95 a cup was pricey for a cup of soup, and boy was it lousy. More like cream of corn starch and MSG (semi clear gluey hospital-type soup, absolutely awful). I wanted a single scoop of ice cream to try to chase the bad taste away but at $3.95....at the dairy, I just couldn't pay $4 for a scoop. Aside from milk, yoghurt and very basic med white cheddar, I really didn't see anything to make me want to return. I think they need to step it up a notch on creativity, flavor, quality and kitchen value to make this a flagship destination. In the N Fraser Way area, you are far better off getting a nice meal at Conte Foods a couple blocks East, try the Godfather Sandwich, some great soup or a real coffee. And while you're there fill your bag with great value Italian Groceries, pastas and cheeses. Kinda like a small scale Bosa Foods. Just my 2 bits from a soup snob. read more

I live in Victoria and always try to buy local products. For some time now I have been buying all organic dairy products. Avalon cartons are so difficult to get in to - over Christmas we had to cut open a carton of whipping cream. This is the second time I have commented on this subject and, if Island Farms can make cartons easy to get into, why can't Avalon I buy my products at Peppers which is in Cadboro Bay Village read more

I just tried the whipping cream in the 500ml bottle. It makes amazing whipped cream. I also used it to make butter. Great product, it is now the only heavy cream that I will buy in the future. Thank you. Jane P. read more

Good place for milk and such and deals on expiring dairy products, but the deli counter lacks basic hygiene. I was going to order the Prime Rib sand, which they make daily inhouse, but when the young man makes deli food without gloves or a hairnet I won't order, then makes an ice cream cone with nothing more than a wipe on his shirt. I know this happens all the time in back kitchens, but if I see it I walk and so should others. I told the manager during the week and she said that's not proper procedure, I didn't get whether gloves are policy. Perhaps the food inspector can enlighten them on food handling procedures, though I won't call as it's not that bad and I still buy milk there. I'll check it out next time, as I want to try the prime rib sand. I love how some cooks and servers get all bent out of shape when you object to the way they are handling your food or drink, like a server putting there fingers over the rim of the glass and expect me to drink it with the prints and perhaps gunk at lip level. I don't care I get it changed, nicely as possible and not giving them shit. read more
