I don't remember when I had a more perfect chocolate cupcake, each time I've come here, the quality and service are perfect! Consistency and good service is what I look for. The attention to detail, hospitality, and kindness from Christian, the young man who works there, is exceptional. As I wrote before, the bakery shares the parking lot with the Yemeni coffee shop Shibam next door. The Yemeni coffee is just perfect with Sweet Elevation's treats, so don't miss this spot if you visit next door. I hope they can work out on doing something together. I've gotten hooked on Sweet Elevation's chocolate cupcakes. I'm having one as I write this review (these really are the freshest and best chocolate cupcakes) with some Yemeni coffee from next door - who knew how perfectly they go together. I'm very picky when it comes to cupcakes, and these are so soft, fresh, moist, fluffy, with perfect frosting with the sprinkles! Each time! It's really cute inside the cafe. What I'm most picky about is service, and I'm impressed with Christian, he's a respectful gentleman, knowledgeable, and really helpful with recommendations. Responsible, helpful, paying attention, intelligent. People my age often complain about the younger generation, they should meet Christian, our world's future is bright with young people like this. These freshly made shortbread cookies "melted" in your mouth. The butter flavor was subtle yet easy to pick out. The texture was firm yet crumbly, and they were moist! Many people wanted to know where they were purchased. I attended a Yelp Elite Event at Sweet Elevation Bakery in Latham recently, so I knew it was an outstanding bakery. I knew that they employ FT decorators/bakers for the cakes and cookies. I also learned that their Custom Cookies are a big seller. Businesses and families order them for special occasions.

Perhaps you are familiar with it. TC Paris has a production facility around the corner, and Chef Paul sells his precious hand made macarons to Whole Foods throughout the northeast. Recently, I returned to this spot to have found that the space had changed out. Now instead of Paul's handmade croissants filled with all types of delicious things, there's a sandwich shop that's slinging Boars Head meats. Le sigh. At least the TC Paris macarons are still present. That meant I was able to treat myself and my daughter to two decadent cookies made from truly fine ingredients. The salted caramel steals my heart every time. Five stars for the macarons. But beyond those, the cafe as a whole left me feeling entirely uninspired. I'm sure hotel guests will find it convenient if they find themselves in a pinch. But I can't see myself getting anything there beyond the occasional macaron.

Seriously, there is someone here to blame. What is their name? I want to know. Sure, it's not a civil or criminal offense. But it's a crime against food. It's a crime against the people of Saratoga Springs. And it's just plane offensive. I regret if anyone was driven to try Mrs. London's based on my previous glowing reviews. I am so sorry. I had no idea. But I was just there this morning. I gazed into the pastry case at the croissants, and my heart sank. I felt sick. The croissants looked like something you would see in an airport. I think the croissants at Costco might be better. These were flat, flabby, and pale things. Far from the perfect, golden, flaky, structured, glistening beauties of the past. And this isn't about fond recollections. I have receipts. Photos from the past and pictures of the present. It's night and day. If the new owners aren't going to preserve Mrs. London's food, they should have the decency to put someone else's name on the joint. I too asked about the breads, and was told "their baker retired". Fortunately, Michael London taught other people to bake amazing artisan bread, and his legacy lives on elsewhere. Unfortunately, nobody at the shop bearing his name bothered to pick up the torch. What a shame. It is so sad. I am literally heart broken. This was one of my favorite bakeries in the country. I went out of my way to make a special stop in my limited time passing through the region. But I suppose nothing lasts forever, and this is a valuable reminder of that unfortunate fact. My days visiting Mrs. London's are over. I can no longer recommend it in good conscience. Perhaps the hot chocolate is still good, and the decor is still lovely. However, if you look closely at the glowing reviews, they all point back to a time that has now sadly passed.
