To start off, I purchased a vehicle through Carvana and noticed that the steering wheel was slightly off-center. Carvana instructed me to bring the vehicle to one of their repair facilities, and Parkertown Auto was the closest location to me.
From the moment I walked in, the experience was a nightmare. The service writer immediately started arguing with me, insisting that Carvana would not cover the alignment, despite the fact that I had ALREADY spoken with a Carvana representative who confirmed that it would be covered. After wasting several minutes arguing with me, I finally told him to contact the number Carvana had provided and figure it out himself.
When I dropped the car off, I specifically explained that the vehicle tracked straight but the steering wheel was slightly off-center. Later that day, I picked up my car, and the service writer told me the alignment was "all messed up" and that they had managed to get it covered. Great, except I already knew it was covered because I had done my homework before ever showing up.
On my drive home, I immediately noticed that the steering wheel was in EXACTLY the same position as it was before they touched the car. So much for fixing the problem.
I called the shop, explained the situation, and was told to bring the vehicle back so the service writer could "do it himself." I brought the car back, they had it for about an hour, and eventually called to tell me it was ready for pickup.
Then things somehow got even worse.
On my way home, I noticed that my car had been switched into Sport mode and, more importantly, MY DASH CAMERA HAD BEEN UNPLUGGED! I immediately called the shop to find out what was going on, and the excuses started flying. Apparently, my dash camera would interfere with their alignment machine.
Seriously?
My vehicle already has TWO factory-installed, hardwired, forward-facing cameras, but somehow my aftermarket dash camera was supposedly the problem? That explanation makes absolutely no sense to me.
I have over EIGHT YEARS of experience in the automotive industry, ranging from working as a mechanic to managing an entire department. I understand how repair facilities operate, what a proper customer experience should look like, and what it means to treat customers with respect. In all those years, I have rarely encountered this level of unprofessionalism, disrespect, and excuse-making.
The complete lack of communication, the unnecessary arguing, the failure to correct a straightforward alignment issue on the first visit, and the fact that I had to deal with excuses after discovering my dash camera had been unplugged made this an absolutely unacceptable experience.
I went in expecting a simple alignment correction and left questioning the professionalism and competence of the people working on my vehicle.
Save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere. Based on my experience, I would NEVER recommend Parkertown Auto to anyone, and I will absolutely never give this shop another dollar of my business.
