Within an hour, which included removing the dishwasher from the built-in cabinets and taking apart the inaccessible drain pump and impeller, he was able to remove what had blocked the flow of water as well as assuring me that the existing parts were not damaged. Strands of Saran/plastic film got behind the filter. I had removed some of the film (according to Bosch's troubleshooting manual) but the real work required disassembly that I wasn't comfortable doing. Dmytro was able to come by quick (the next day) to diagnose and offer to fix the microwave rather than a complete replacement (another repair shop we found on Google suggested to replace - which would be more expensive and perhaps be better in the long run if additional part breaks down the line) and another tech was only available a day after. Plus, I rather not send a microwave into the landfill if I can potentially extend its life. Hope choosing to fix it is worth the gamble. His price is pretty reasonable given we wanted to have it fixed sooner than later. He also promised 90-day warranty on the fix and even sourced more affordable parts (switches) and was able to come back the next day to install it.
