coffee meringues
Rebecca M.

I know that macarons are all the rage in Paris, but meringues are *really* where it's at. And who is the #1 master meringue-maker here? Aux Merveilleux. Each one of their meringues is light and delightfully airy, but what really sets these meringues apart from the rest is the rich cream-filling inside! My favorites are the "Incroyable" (white chocolate & Speculos--which is similar to gingerbread!) and the "Impensable" (dark chocolate & espresso.) But to be honest--you won't go wrong with anything you order from here. It's all simply marvelous.

Oh my god! Amazing! No line the day I went, in a cute neighborhood w/a lot of artisnal grocers and little boho shops. Took one of each home along with a baguette and a croissant for the next day.

As we had been traveling all day just to get to Paris for a quick trip, we were famished for something Parisian, ideally bread! In no way did this disappoint. The two women behind the counter, pleasant and accommodating, even smiling! Financier Chocolat - 2.50 EUROS Cute square shaped moist brown butter tea cake with rich milk chocolate creamy filling. Perfection. Pain au Chocolat Flaky with perfect crumb (holes from the gas between flaky laminated dough layers) and a smidge of chocolate inside. European buttery at its finest. You can't get this in the states. Baguette There is something about getting baguette in France! Warm and thin crispy outside with tender and fluffy crumb inside, and the flavor has the right amount of fermentation and texture is proofed perfectly. Excellente. They serve it in a partial piece of square liner so you can just bite the head off and enjoy while walking down the street.

The almond filling was intense, and the dark chocolate even more so. Loved this!

The craftsmen ship on these are outstanding. Taste - They are DELICOUS! The Coquelicot had a bottom layer of cake, a fruit center, more cake as the outer dome, and finally, the beautiful glaze on the outside. It's phenomenal. The Feuille d'Or is a chocolate goodness with a rich chocolate but light touches that I can barely describe between cake and filling and crunchy bits. Omg, it's so tasty! Cost - At 5 Euros, they are very reasonable. They didn't charge extra to sit down, unlike Paul Bakery two stores over which charged 2 Euros more to sit down. I bought additional pastries for breakfast and a matcha bar. All are excellent!

I am an elderly, frail man with little time left on earth. All I wanted was to enjoy a nice cake and coffee at an outside table in the late autumn Paris sunshine. Then, as I waited in vain for more than 15 minutes for someone to come and take my order, the Japanese manager, whom I expected would at least have shown me some understanding given Japanese social norms and respect for the elderly, appeared and brutally ordered me to leave in front of others as if I had committed an evil crime. I was shocked (and still am numbed by the experience). My only error was not knowing - I did not deserve to be treated so cruelly. I ended up eating my cake and coffee in the bus shelter. In spite of this vile human behavior, the cake at least was good! I hope this man will find goodness and decency in his heart one day, and opt to become an ambassador for his wonderful country, rather than an embarrassment.

Ambience, food and coffee…read more I'd like to start by giving a thank you to Richard our server. He shared information with my daughter and I about pastries, their origin and shelf life. You can tell that he takes his work seriously and enjoys what he does. My daughter and I shared a time time order. This is specific and consists of: a pastry, macaroons, a hot drink, sandwiches, and macaroons to go. It's a pampering experience. The only thing that kept me from giving this business five stars is the presentation. I love the pretty blue boxes and small plates. However, when you think of tea or teatime you think of a bit more elaborate displays.

It was a pretty young lady working there and I politely asked if she spoke a bit of English. She spoke enough to tell me what was in the most beautiful dessert that caught my eye from the start. It was called the St. Honore and made with lots of cream and some puffy dough with a little crunch on it and also had sprinkles of a hard candy on top. I think it was a smidgen overpriced but considering the ultra cute packaging, I can understand and am willing to pay. She put my dessert in a beautiful box which was then placed in a little, similarly decorated bag with handles. The shop is really cute, colorful and borderline majorly girly looking. Don't worry boys, you'll enjoy the decor as well. I just wish I could have tried more i.e. the macarons but I was in there less than 8 minutes and was not trying to overdo it though everything looked divine! I ate goodie this while resting my poor feet for s few minutes while walking around the Louvre. idk if you can eat in there but I felt gangster doing so lol. And let me tell you, the dessert was just as heavenly as the artwork! Worth the wait instead of gobbling down in a hurry waiting on our car. The area is busy but if you're already there taking in the shopping and want to get a sugar rush, do it!
