Even though the shop was obviously busy, the owner, John, was able to fit me into the work schedule. I'm traveling from Washington to Arizona and his repair was able to get me back in the road. He was fair and honest, showing me the cost up front. When I arrived to pick up my car after he fixed it, he was obviously still very busy but he took the time to talk with me and did not rush me out of the shop, even though another customer walked in right behind me. This shop has been in business since 1983; no one sticks around that long unless they're doing the right thing. I appreciate a personable customer-oriented mechanic who is honest, up-front, option-oriented, and just plain nice. As a woman, I'm often talked down to when it comes to things like cars and I did not experience that at all at this mechanic's. Even though his price was more than fair, I'd even pay more for a decent shop that does good work. I believe this place qualifies on all counts. I'd get my car serviced or repaired here again in a heartbeat.

However, John at Colby Lemings Automotive Specialties (CLAS) nevertheless said he'd take a look at and see what he could do to allow me to continue my trip so I had it towed to their garage. I found Colby Lemings Automotive Specialties Is a highly professional and conscientious automotive repair facility. John and Jeremy are highly knowledgeable specialists who provided a complete and accurate diagnosis of my problem along with the required action and options available to me. Unfortunately, my situation, a leaking heater core, did not allow for a "quick fix" and parts and scheduling commitments would have delayed me several more days. However, Jeremy consulted with John and together they looked at the option of safely bypassing the affected system to allow me to get home. After completely explaining everything the procedure and its limitations to me, I agreed to the temporary repair which was then completed in a safe and timely manner. As a precaution, I checked for a recurrence of leakage on the trip home, however there was none and the mechanic who completed the repair commented on the quality of the bypass procedure.

I definitely want to vouch for the integrity of these two brothers and their company. While moving…read morefrom WA to CA a year and a half ago, my diesel pickup had a serious problem on I-5. After calling every shop capable of fixing the trouble in the Roseburg area, I chose Southern Oregon Diesel. I didn't choose them for being cheapest (they weren't), I chose them because they were honest, friendly, helpful and showed actual concern for my situation. They also got more recommendations from the locals I spoke to than any other diesel repair shop. David was so helpful, scheduling to do the job quickly as he knew I was in the midst of a move. They even provided me dry storage for my trailer and the truckload full of household items I was moving south. The "cab-off" job took most of a week, but is was done nicely and soon I was back on my way again. Settled in CA for just shy of a year, one day I noticed a trace of oil in my cooling system. I called David at SOD and asked what might be the cause. First thing he did was to put me at ease by telling me not to worry, he would back up his work 100%. That felt really good. He had me personally test a few things and then had me take the truck to a local shop (which he covered). We removed all the oil and waited. Soon it became apparent there was a slow leak in the oil system somewhere. David suspected the new oil cooler had been defective, but the only way to verify that was to open the engine and change it out. I would have expected him to say, "Just bring the truck back to OR and we'll fix it", but instead he drove all the way down here towing a trailer (and loaner car) and retrieved my truck. About 4 days later, my truck was fixed. I was amazed by what he did, his care and the incredible service I received. He offered to come again, but I couldn't stand the idea of him making another 800+ roundtrip drive, so my wife and took a couple days off and drove his loaner north to retrieve my truck. You don't find this kind of honest and friendly service very many places these days. Southern Oregon Diesel is the best of the best as far as I'm concerned. I only wish they were here in my own backyard, where I could use them when needed and send tons of business their way. David and Dennis, Thank You my friends for wonderful care, and for servicing my wife and I way beyond our expectations. You're the Best. Sincerely, Jeff & Lena, Rocklin CA

I noticed that this place took down my review which is pretty shady of them. So here is my review…read moreagain on what happened. First off, this place will create a problem with your vehicle. My vehicle had a starter that went out and what this place did was CUT MY WIRES that would have caused an engine fire or even worse. This happened when I was in the hospital in the ER fighting for my life and my hubby brought our van into the place to get repaired. The place didnt just mess up the replacement of the starter but damaged something in the area that the starter is suppose to go to which ended up having to get ANOTHER starter plus the repair for the damage that they created. COSTLY for something that they did. Once I finally was allowed to leave the hospital I couldnt drive and unfortunately was in and out of the hospital for the next 2 years. During that time my hubby and I noticed that the van was having some weird stuff going on with the functioning of the van. We couldnt afford to outright have the van get a full exam but a professional mechanic offered to take a look to help us out. Once that professional mechanic came and took a look at the van he was not only surprised by what he found but told us that we were very lucky that we didnt have a engine fire or even an accident because the van was actually an accident waiting to happen. The mechanic did the repairs and assured us the car was now safe to drive. He did explain to us that there was absolutely no way that what was cut was an accident but was obviously done on purpose. I called up the repair shop and told them what we found out and honestly was pretty ticked off how they were willing to create a issue to a customer's car just to get more money and how careless they were on someone else's wellbeing on safety. We have children and I would have been devastated if any of my family was injured or worse. Of course, the repair shop tried to downplay what they did and denied what they did. I placed a review shortly after the whole situation was discussed. The place wanted to discuss things again and wanted me to remove my review which I never did. Just didnt want the shady lies that place tried to convince me of and wanted to warn other future possible customers of the dangerous stunt that they did to me about my van. Several years later I noticed that they place removed my review, so I restated what happened and looks like they removed it again. Yep I AM RESTATING WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN IN A REVIEW. This place is dangerous for anyone's safety. Seriously avoid this place. I have a relative that went to this place out of desperation and they got screwed over as well. Their car should have never even been there but after they got their car repaired, they started to have other issues which created a safety problem to their car too. Luckily another mechanic fixed the safety issue and even had to replace the issue from the repair too. I don't know who is ok to allow these very dangerous actions to continue at their business but it can and most likely will end up getting sued if anyone is injured or unalive from the place trying to create problems for money.

Again, today, they went above and beyond for me. Simple…read moreand relatively inexpensive repair done. Then they took my card $ and DELIVERED MY CAR because I needed it for tomorrow (July 4) but couldn't get there.
