The time it took us to get there and the gas was just wasted. Very disappointed! I purchased a new car battery and it was going dead in a few months. Took it to a mechanic and the battery wasn't charging, so I went back to Auto Zone on highway 111 to get a new battery. The owner argued with me for quite a while until he finally caved and gave me "a new battery", or so he said. Chris, the manager, took time out to help me use the wheel pulley kit to remove the pulley from the PS pump. We couldn't figure it out. Turns out the loaner kit had a stripped thread. It's been about 20 minutes helping me out and we pulled off the pulley. Most managers and people don't give a damn nowadays but he helps us out. That's saved us a ton of time, trips, and money. Fast service here too. The only complaint I have is that they don't have things in stock on the retail shelves, and in stock, and the La Quinta store nearly always does. read more

Ok Cheryl, you totally ROCK!! I had a horrible sound coming from my front tire. It didn't feel like a flat but it was loud enough that it made me pull over and it made me nervous. Something in the wheel well that is black was hanging down and shredded because my tire was hitting it and it was hitting the road when I drove. I called my friend and she said go to the closest AutoZone. So I came to this one, like a damsel in distress I had no idea what they could do for me. I bought a 4L semi synthetic oil, filter, air filter to do the oil change on my car. Instead giving me a good oil was a burned recycle black oil. I was treated from a Hispanic employee with racist comments that he was from Texas. Now I'm trying to reach the Regional Manager. Came here after a stressful day dealing with my car battery. Drove from LA down here the day before woke up to my car battery being dead. Not only was my car battery dead but the connector broke. Had to take my car to the shop to get repaired and then came to this autozone and the nicest young lady helped me change my battery. She was quick and efficient she also gave me some tips for next time. So thankful for her help. I was visiting Palm Desert from out of town and had a major battery emergency at 4pm on a Tuesday. Basically, mine died. While I love all these electronics in new cars, they sure drain a battery faster! I called them on the phone, they had the battery I needed in stock, in fact had a couple options for me. I went with the best one they had. I asked if they could install it for me and they said as long as they weren't busy. I was there until 10 minutes (because my car was running in the driveway of our rental after AAA gave me a jump) and within 15 minutes, had a new battery installed. They suggested some foam washers and a sealant for the connectors which was like $4 so I had that added. I left with a nice new battery for my trip home the next day. Thank you! read more

All 20 reviews of this store to date had been five stars, but my encounter was imperfect. I sought a 26-inch wiper blade during the rainy first week of December, and noticed that the premium, aerodynamic Duralast blade was only a few bucks more than a conventional, so that was my pick. However, the rack was empty, and Bosch's comparable blade was also sold out. The highest-priced and entry-level styles were in stock, and priced far apart. So I bought the $13.99 "cheap" one (what ever happened to refills?), but it made me think: The store carries a wide range of wiper sizes. I understand not stocking-up on the slow-movers, but the popular sizes need to be waiting in the wings, especially during winter, even in a rain-deprived, low-desert playground. As other reviews indicate, the staff will cheerfully install new wipers. Everything else about the store appears top-notch. All I had to do was pull up in the parking lot and I had two separate employees stop and ask me if I needed help after I put my hood up on my 2008 Subaru. One was Cheryl who was completely off work but offered to help anyway, the other one was Hector the store manager who was on his way off work. The two helped get my burnt passenger side headlight bulb out, then Hector installed a new bulb all the while trusting me to go to the store and pay for it after installation. What great customer service! who wouldn't want to just keep walking to the car to get off work versus asking a potential customer if they need help? This store rocks! Amazing, helping me in the dark and even taping my behind the headlight cover on since another mechanic from another shop broke the bolt off the back. I let the local dingbat clean my car, and he left a light on, so a VERY DEAD battery the next day. charged it with my Jackery 500. It started right up. But I drove it to Auto Zone to see if I had to buy a new battery. $260!!! I remember when batteries were $60. I had such a difficult time earlier in the evening,elsewhere, trying to get my battery taken care of. These two guys were such a big help to me that night, and couldn't have been nicer! My battery died, I called to see what they had in stock within a decent price range. I spoke with Gabriel he was extremely knowledgeable very polite and with a great attitude. I went in a few minutes later I was greeted by Cheryl who asked a few questions, Gabriel gave her the run down and boom she grabbed her kit and a dolly and came right out to my car, she started unscrewing things and saw I had more damage than I hoped for. She worked her knowledge of batteries like a boss, at some point she asked her manager for some assistance Hector came out and assisted.
