I worked with two guys from the Mount Prospect auto zone store on golf in Mount Prospect today. I went there with my daughter's car because a couple of lights in the back were out and, I intented to buy the replacement bulbs To hopefully replace them myself. These two guys helped me, sold me the bulbs and, spent 45 mins. replacing all bulbs in the back For me. They could not have been nicer. Went in to have my car battery tested. I was told their battery tester was not working and was referred to another store. Something about the way the associates looked at each other and responded made me feel the tester was working fine and they just didn't feel like going outside. read more

I needed a new engine filter for my car and as soon as I walked in I got immediate service and attention. I really appreciated that. I don't remember the gentleman's name but he was very helpful in looking to find the right product for my car, and I also need another filter but couldn't get it right then and there, so he printed out the exact product so I could bring it in when I was ready to buy it. I also needed help and he was so gracious to go out in the cold and quickly replace the filter. He deserves recognition because he didn't have to help me to the extent he did, but it wasn't just great customer service, it was just a very kind thing to do. 10/10 highly recommend. read more

AutoZone - Auto Parts & Supplies Near Me - Mount Prospect, Illinois

Customer service at this location is a non-existent. I purchased $200 worth of car parts, $28 of which was paid w/ store credit from a previous transaction. When I returned to this location to return $100 of the parts purchased, I was only refunded $72 and $28 went back onto a store credit card. I insisted all of my $100 return go back onto my personal credit card but was told "The computer only gives me one option, and that's store credit." ... This was "the manager" and apparently there was "nothing she could do" to make the situation right. Instead she waved her arms towards the aisles and said "buy something". WHY SHOULD I BE FORCED TO TAKE STORE CREDIT BACK WHEN MY PURCHASE PRICE STILL EXCEEDS THE $28 STORE CREDIT?! AutoZone will likely never see another penny from me again... definitely not this location. read more

I showed up at the store because I was stranded on my way home from the airport. The male employee didn't look to thrilled to be there as is and told him about my trans light. He told me he had no clue. I asked him if he could atleast look up what type of trans fluid so I could put that in the vehicle atleast. Before I could ask him to help me locate it he stated that he has no clue and couldn't help me or be bothered to try. Bought the fluid he said was correct. Went out in the parking lot to try to locate where to pour the fluid. Both employees stood inside and saw me out there. Then they closed up the shop turned the lights off and left me in the dark. The fluid that he gave was also the wrong fluid. So now I have to pay $300 to go get a flush and put the correct fluid in. Not to mention there could be damage done because I drove home with the wrong fluid in my vehicle. I am so severely disappointed and upset. This is not acceptable by any means. read more

Terrible store, the guy was rude to me, kept lying the brake pads I had been purchasing did not come with a lifetime warranty, where you get a full refund upon returning the old pads, which is not true. he called the store manager, who told him he was wrong and I was right and I should get a full refund upon returning the old pads. I asked him to repeat what his boss told him, he agreed. Later the same day he same guy denied ever talking to me, lied he didn't remember me from earlier and refused to issue the refund. The other two guys, who work there were siding with him, continuing the lie and telling me this program didn't exist. They threatened me with calling the police. I refused to leave and called the Des Plains location, who confirmed if I have the old pads I get a full refund. They guy hears my conversation and now he is more than happy to help me and do the refund. the first person I dealt with used profanity against me, I told the guy I will never do business with them ever again and the Des Plains store will issue me the promised refund. I think these guys, who were in cahoots are running a scam, by lying to customers there is no lifetime warranty with a refund, so hat they can keep the old pads and issue refunds to them selves. I called corporate, who had the regional and store manager cal me. Promises were made but not kept. I thin the store manager is in the scam as well. Stay away from this store or you will fall victim to their scam too. You have been warned! read more

I know nothing about cars. If a mechanic said to me we need to change the belt and it costs a 2000 dollars I would probably say "here is my wallet". I know that was a bad example, but I am very tired now so i cant come up with a better example. But there is some truth to that comment. I am a girl. Plain and simple I can drive and park like a dude but car parts are not my forte. If a mechanic explains it to me in a shoe language then I would get it. If he doesnt, then I am doomed and possibly en route to be broke, because you know I will possibly be lied to. Girls always get lied to by the mechanics. So my battery has been dying on me lately. Lets just clear this out. Its not my battery's fault that I left inside lights on 2 times in 10 days. Anyway, I went to autozone and after a diagnosis with some fancy machine, it was determined that I needed a new battery. The process was painless. 5 minutes. Loved it! Cant say I will return again. Who wants to return again at a car shop? For now I am a happy camper. read more

Ran in the store one hot sweaty day with small kids in tow and a car with a dead battery. All I can say is the sympathetic manager took pity on us and went above and beyond to help me. Perhaps he sensed a potential grown-up melt down about to start. Would he have been as helpful if I didn't look on-edge with small kids? A few months ago, I had some car trouble. I'll put that lightly for the sake of this review, but to paint a better picture, I found myself stranded 3 out of the 5 work days on the return commute; once on the highway, once in the middle of an intersection, and the last time was as I was pulling into the AZ parking lot (no joke). Needless to say I was incredibly frustrated. Note: This review will be relevant to the 3rd time my car died - had to mention it because it was the 2nd Auto Zone I had been to. I heard they did free battery testing and was intrigued because that was what I believed was my issue (I'm not exactly a 'car guy') so I wanted to make my way there when the battery light came on. My car died on the street and had momentum to roll into the lot, so when I went in, I described what happened to the employee and he immediately suggested it could be the alternator. He came out and tested the battery charge, only find that there was 0% because I was using all the reserve power, so he popped out the battery, charged it to 100%, replaced it, tested it again and very quickly confirmed that it was, in fact, the alternator. He told us that they sold rebuilt alternators and suggested that they were relatively easy fixes so we would just need to pick up the new one and follow directions to replace it. I wanted to walk through the experience to hopefully describe the level of care the employees at this Auto Zone demonstrate. They were brainstorming solutions, asking me questions, and most importantly to me, as a customer, they checked the car and determined the issue....and all for $0 (aka: NO money). I was really happy about this because the parts/battery all came with a hefty price tag, but the diagnostic test was really helpful. Also, the suggestion of attempting to do the labor ourselves was encouraging (and ultimately successful) but it also saved me a bunch of money. In retrospect I wish the location I bought the battery from was as knowledgeable as these guys, because I could have avoided further difficulties and extra dollars spent. I explained what happened to me on the road and instead of suggesting a solution, they told me 'good luck with the battery'. I'm not sure if it was carelessness, a ploy to get more money from me, or inexperience on their part, but when I came here I got what I needed and then some. Overall, super-helpful and well informed guys here. I was satisfied with my experience and will make the extra trip to hit this location versus the one closer. Trust in the world of automotives goes a long way in my opinion, and I think this location has earned mine. read more

I know nothing about cars and they are always able to help me with any issue i have or advise me on what part i need to get or which brand to go with. The place is horrible.... If you need oil and windshield washer fluid- by all means, go there. However, if you need to borrow a tool or ask a question about the parts that they're supposed to be selling, go to a place where people know a little more about a car than, that it has wheels and you put gas into it. The people that work there, (including the manager) should realize that they're no longer in the ghetto. read more

I came in with a battery problem for my sons car and Mat was the best. I explains the issue and he had the experience to help me, not sell me things I didn't need, and the car is running again. I trust this store and the staff including the other Matt that charged the battery. Friendly and didn't talk down to me like other places. Go see Mat...great person and knows his stuff. read more

This is not about the Mt.Prospect location. This is about the Autozone.com web site. I have never experienced a worse customer service debacle than this. I ordered 2 matching parts and 1 was great and the other was missing pieces. I called the customer service # and tried to speak to someone whose name was "Dbvoobeded". Thats the best I can pronounce the name he gave. All I asked was for them to send me the pieces that were missing as soon as possible because my car was broke down in a parking lot and had to be moved. I was told they would have to issue a return lab... Bottom line is they never sent me any label or anything. They totally failed. I had to order the missing pieces from someone else. Stay away from Autozone. Horrible. read more
