Show up for my service appointment on Wednesday and was told the tires hadn't arrived. Rescheduled for Thursday. Got a call Thursday noon still no tires. I am now officially done being jerked around by the dealership. Found Spies in a Google search, called, spoke with Joel and told him what I needed. By Friday at 1:26 (for 1:00 appointment) I had my new tires and the service was top notch. Even if you are a brand new customer they will treat as if you've been one for 20 years. (That's what I expected.) But they are so lovely -- so generous and polite and thrifty (if anything they have only ever undercharged me -- like, "we didn't charge you for the additive because it was Audi's fault it leaked out"). They really go above and beyond and I try to map out my mileage so I'll have my oil changed during the summer, after I've driven from CA. Recently I had to turn in my beloved car ("emissions scandal" etc etc) and I spoke to the sales associate about the possibility about buying my new car in Michigan. I had pulled in on a whim and she kept the dealership open late to help me, printing out everything I did not feel like reading on line, because every dealership in the country has run out of brochures (Audi, print more brochures!). I am not the kind of person who loves to buy a new car. And I have an excellent dealership in LA. I am not totally thrilled with Audi as a company. But between my wonderful service department in LA and this excellent dealership here, I am thinking about forgiving Audi for stealing my beloved, beloved diesel from me.

They don't just do tires and brakes - we've had their help for a variety of car troubles. Eric is the type of owner who still answers the phone and is in the shop almost every day. He'll tell you when something's beyond his scope instead of getting every last cent out of you. They have a very normal policy for a non-franchise, locally owned business, of not installing brand new tires that are purchased elsewhere. They are happy to install used tires, but as one would expect, are not going to enable someone buying tires at a discount place and then using their services. This is posted on a sign on their door and their staff is upfront about it as well. If other reviewers were told this on a phone call, it sounds like Royal was as upfront as they could be. Certainly nothing deserving a one-star review. I trust them with anything, and took the time to update my review because that other review guy ticked me off with his pettiness, lol.

I had to go back a week later because my battery light had come back on. Because the old alternator was over charging, my battery had boiled over and was now bad. He was able to point me in the right direction to get my battery replaced under warranty as well!
