My actuator in my front right side air conditioner stopped working out of the blue the other day. Thankfully I know some people who can get in there and figure it out for me and all I needed to do was bring the broken one down to AutoZone and get a new one. I ordered one to be in the next day. The process was super easy and they were pretty efficient. So I thought. They called me to tell me my part was in. Later, when I got off work I came down to pick it up and they couldn't find it. Ok? Well, now what? So they reordered it. I had to wait another day for them to order another one. When he called me to tell me it was in I made sure that he put my name on it and don't let anyone else touch it. He promised. After two days and some minor complications with the order I had it in my hot little hands. Anytime I go to an automotive store, I leave feeling belittled and feeling like an idiot. I know the basics about cars, but clearly not enough to do a lot of things myself. Today at this specific AutoZone, I left with a smile. I was greeted immediately by Hector. I told Hector I was having some issues and I wasn't a very good mechanic. I was expecting Hector to talk to me like everyone else at other stores have, but instead he did everything he could to help me figure out what was wrong with my car. We ran the diagnostics and he clearly and thoroughly explained everything to me like an equal. He didn't talk to me like I was stupid yet he broke it down for me easily. We figured out the part I needed and I replaced it at home. While I was taking off the clips from the trim and ended up breaking a couple. I went back to buy a couple of clips when I saw Hector helping another man who also didn't seem like he knew what he needed. Again, Hector spoke with him with respect and broke everything down really simply. As the men left, he smiled a very genuine smile and said to him "thank you!" You can tell between a fake thank you and a genuine one. This was definitely a genuine one. Hector once again said hi to me and asked if everything was okay having seeing me again. I told him everything was fine and I was just grabbing a few clips. I ended up speaking to a supervisor to give Hector the recognition he deserves, but before that I was watching the supervisor, Chad acting just like Hector with other customers and being incredibly helpful. There was another person there; a lady and I'm embarrassed I didn't catch her name, but she was as sweet as can be. This store in particular is doing something right. Nice, helpful employees, kind supervisors, and all around a very knowledge staff. If AutoZone corporate wants to make more money, they need to clone this exact store; specifically Hector. It was my first battery change with Autozone. I normally go to the dealer for my maintenance. It was recommended by a body shop and gave it try. I was hesitant at first especially the guy at the counter told me that he is under training. He doesn't know how to navigate yet the counter machine. My only assurance is that I am sure that Autozone will live up to his name and will not let poor service happen. I watched as the same guy installed the battery... he cleaned the corrosion and start suggesting and proactive to services needed to be done. Of course it is not all being nice, they wanted to sell me a battery. Long story short, I bought a battery online at Auto Zone instead because I had gift cards. Unfortunately, I couldn't use the gift cards online. What I did was go to the store, pick up my purchase, return it, and then re-buy the battery. I reallllllllllllly HATE it when ppl lie to me. Especially to cover up something that is so small. You earn my business, money and loyalty when you just admit fault big or small as I always try to understand human error. I had someone drop off my camaro battery bc it was dead. I had a baby so I didn't start up my car for the longest time. These ppl here had my battery for 24 hours. I was in the area trying to multitask so I had someone help me drop it off. We decided to come back for it to make another appointment. I called the next morning and they said it takes 24 hours to charge? And it wasn't done yet. That it was a "slow charge" This is what I don't like- DO NOT LIE TO CUSTOMERS BC NOT ALL OF US ARE F***** DUMB. If the battery is still good- it takes 30 seconds for you to find out- if it's bad it may take up to two hours. Telling me that the "charge is so slow that it's still charging" is and it took almost 24 hours is a backhanded excuse basically calling me stupid. As if I haven't done this before. Piss me the hell off. Battery ended up dead anyway but I had to plan my day around this. My battery was 230 dollars - I bought a new one anyways just in case but I wouldn't put it pass these ppl here to just tell me it's dead bc they assume I'll return the new one or keep it for themselves. I went in there with my daughter to get some windshield wiper fluid. No issues there easy to find as always and decently priced. The issue was when we checked out. The cashier made some rather sexist comments along the line that we were in the wrong store and the mall was down the street. I've been working on my own car since I was 16. I have been going to automotive shops for supplies for just as long and never in 15 years have I been told I was in the wrong store and that I belonged at the mall. And in front of my child! I let the cashier know politely that it's great that women can have more varied interests than the mall now a days. I will never return to this AutoZone.
