This garage is knowledgable, honest, and conscientious and I'm delighted to have found them. When I bought my '08 MINI (a year and a half ago) I discovered that the repair shop in Alfred that I had trusted for over 20 years to work on all of our other cars would not work on a MINI Cooper. There are no MINI Dealerships in Maine and most auto mechanics near my home have no experience with the brand. I searched online and found a few foreign auto garages to choose from, but chose Autoworks because I was impressed with their website. It was obvious that they cared about their customers and their community and the website provided lots of information about the building and the staff. I have had a couple of repairs done here (new bushings and a thermostat replaced) as well as several oil changes, and new tires. Not only was all of their work done well, but both Stephen and Jeremy have always gone the extra mile to make sure I was in the loop every step of the way, always respected my opinion and have never made me feel rushed. Whether researching the best parts to use, or dealing with insurance representatives, the staff here will take the time to make their customers happy. The last time I was in the shop it was because there was a "check engine" light lit up on the dash. I was worried it was something major, but Stephen assured me it was nothing serious. Autoworks uses OEM parts only, so that is an investment that might not be worth it for a very old car, but otherwise you will get the best service you could hope for. They are honest and very competent. They "go by the (manufacturer's) book". They have loaner cars available, too. Basically, Autoworks is like a dealer service center, but cheaper and trustworthy. I noticed a one star review by Andrew J. because Autoworks went ahead and replaced what were probably some dangerous tires that were worn because of a bad alignment. I'm not sure what the writer means by "Summers", but I can acknowledge that Autoworks will sometimes go ahead and fix something proactively. Autoworks installed something on my old car that I had not asked for. I think it was simply in-cabin air filters that you can only get from the dealer and are overpriced. The car has since gone to the junkyard and, at the time, it was not worth putting money into. They didn't charge me for the air filters. As a mechanic starts working on a car and notices things that have to be replaced, how many times should they contact the owner during the process? Most people do not want to be bothered. They just want it fixed. If you are that sort of customer, this is the place for you. If you are a nitpicker like me, tell them that when you bring in the car. read more

Best service on the Seacoast. Period. My family has used Autoworks for many years, and they have greatly extended the lives of our vehicles. Working with the same, highly experienced technicians time and time again has a much more "personal" feel than using a dealership. These guys use vehicle-specific diagnostic equipment (we have four different makes) so it never feels like a costly "guess-and-check" experiment. Work is always thorough and complete. Car comes back hand washed and vacuumed. That's how service should be. I'm actually writing this review because I work in Portsmouth and I recently tried Autoworks' new "@Work Auto Repair Concierge" service. They come get your car while you're at work in Portsmouth, Pease Tradeport or commuting from C&J, fix it during the day and return it before you get out of work (or they give you a loaner if it is going to take longer). Really cool system. I had a full brake job done, and my car was right back in its parking spot by 5pm. The only downside was that I didn't get to catch up with everyone at the shop! I cannot do justice in words the exceptional experience I had at Autoworks! As a female, the last thing I want to do is spend time or money on car 'things'. Lets face it...it cuts into the shoe budget... One evening after learning my 'run-flat' tire went flat because I had run over an object on my way to work, I had exhausted all options--other auto places were unable to help, or worse, said they could and then did not deliver. After googling and calling in haste, a nice gentleman answered my call. I was able to get a loaner car in order to get back & forth to work. They were able to fix this in a day. The communication was always prompt and pleasant. The expectations they set, they met without incident. When I picked up my car I was met again with such a pleasant team of people at the front desk. My car was soooo clean and is running fantastic. Again, I would recommend this business any day. Not only because of the great work they did, but because the customer service is stellar! Recently while traveling in Maine my 1997 Mercedes Benz stalled out and I was stranded. I found Autoworks on line and was able to get the car to AutoWorks for repair. I own several older Mercedes so I am familiar with repair shops and I must say that the staff at Autoworks was outstanding, Paul Wein was very knowledgable and explained the various options I would have once the diagnosis was complete. I was only going to be in Maine for three days so the repair needed to be made quickly. They diagnosed the problem and the repair was made, my car returned in two days. I also understand that Andrew the Mercedes Technician stayed late to work on the car because he knew that I was from out of town without a car while I was vacationing in Maine. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Autoworks and I am a frequent customer, as is my family. I've dealt most with Jeremy, who is so helpful, but everyone at Autoworks is so knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming and always willing to answer questions and even give me tips about how to enjoy my car and introduce me to settings and features I wasn't even aware of! All of my questions are always answered patiently and I never feel patronized as I have at many other car repair places. There have been many times where I have asked them whether one thing or another needs to be repaired urgently or whether it can wait, and I am always answered honestly and given a rationale for the answer. Yesterday while driving, we had a problem with the AC and had to get it checked out after the engine started smoking a few miles from Kittery. The AAA people said the best place to have our 1993 Toyota towed to was Autoworks and they were absolutely right! Even though they were very busy at the garage, they squeezed us in, inspected the car and determined that we needed a new compressor. Since they knew we were driving to New York that day, they let us know that as long as we did not use the AC, we would be safe to drive it to NY and get it fixed in the near future. They could not have been kinder, did not even charge us, and sent us off with peace of mind after a stressful situation on the road. I recommend them highly. read more

Autoworks is the best! I live in Biddeford but would gladly travel 30 miles to have them service my car again. When my car was in their care for a few days while they acquired the right parts and did extensive brake repair, they gave me a loaner at no cost, which made my life much easier! Brought my new to me 2008 Smart Fortwo to them to have some repairs done before I could get my State inspection. They were great Brett kept me informed of the progress as I had to leave for a few days while they got parts, which worked out as I had to go on business trip for a few days. Autoworks was the ONLY shop that gave us a time to bring in the first car, texted us when that one was done then inspected the other car. I was two hours into 5 hour drive when my tire went flat or practically flat I just made it to them in time! We called from the road and they told us to come in right away and they were waiting for me when I got there. Autoworks is a great place to bring your vehicle for preventive maintenance and repair. They are always lower than what they quote and Jeremy works around my schedule which is awesome.
