I was over 100 miles away from home when my car's power steering went. I was lucky enough to be right next to Bob's Automotive. Dave was very friendly despite being busy. He even checked under the hood to see what the problem was while I waited for AAA. Before even getting it towed to my local shop, Dave had helped me determine that my serpentine belt had gone. I cannot express how grateful I am to Dave and his wife as they offered for me to wait in the warm shop (as opposed to sitting in my car in below freezing weather). I was in a tough spot on August 18th, 2018, as my car's engine malfunction light began flashing on a weekend trip to York (accompanied with heavy engine vibrations). Not the best timing considering I was more than 50 miles from home. I pulled over to the side of the road and opened up the Yelp app. It seemed there was only one reputable mechanic shop within a 5 mile radius, so I gave Bob's a shot. I called up a tow truck to have it delivered to Bob's that Saturday night. The tow truck driver said I made a good choice. I was able to get in touch with Dave the following Monday when his shop opened and again on Tuesday, and I was given a prompt diagnosis. Additionally, since Dave is very accustomed to Honda vehicles, he was privy to a Technical Service Bulletin for an oil consumption issue that meant Honda was responsible for a significant repair (a full engine rebuild in this case). Dave made the car driveable for a very reasonable charge so I get could drive the car over to a Honda dealership on my own time. Sparing the details, Dave saved me thousands of dollars in future repairs! These folks are very knowledgeable, fair, and professional. I would definitely recommend them! read more

Dave and his wife from Bobs Automotive were awesome! We were on our way to a bachelor party in Bethel, Maine when we realized we had a very wobly tire. We searched for auto mechanics in the area and came across Dave's establishment. As soon as we arrived Dave came to diagnose the vehicle. The back wheel of the vehicle was ready to fall off due to the lug nuts breaking off. Despite having several different vehicles to work on Dave took care of our issue within two hours. We've been using Bob's for both of our cars for over 10 years. What you can expect is speedy service, good information and practical advice about your vehicle. You will also pay a lot less than what the dealer charges. Most dealer checkups are a scam of unneeded services at an outrageous price. Take your car to Bob's, get things done right and save a lot. Today my battery died we googled and found Bobs!!! They were incredibly kind! He ordered a new battery instead of selling me a dated one sitting on his shelf....honestly double points!! My daughter was driving home from school in Maine to come home and surprise visit us for Columbus Day weekend. The car was having car trouble, not accelerating and mis-firing. We live in CT and the thought of towing this home wasnot an option. After some research and reading the reviews we took her 2010 Honda Civic to Bob's Automotive and left it there using the key drop off. The very next day I called Bob explaining the situation. Even though he had big jobs lined up he took the time to listen to my story and immediately began to assess the situation. After diagnosing the check engine light, replacing spark plugs and doing some other reviews of the vehicle he took it for two test drives (23 miles) to make sure the engine light would not light up and to make sure that the vehicle was running well. I have never felt more at ease about a stressful car repair. Being out of state and not knowing the area I was worried but fate brought us to Bob and his wife. I cannot be more grateful! He understood our stressful situation, squeezed us in for a repair and made really sure we could take the car safely. He was personable, sincere and authentic. Dave helped us out by doing an analysis of our car's system even though he was booked with cars to repair. We were enjoying a family vacation in the area and Dave was able to diagnose the problem and advise us to continue driving the car without worry once he was able to reset the car's warning system. He did this without charging us and asked us to come back later in week if the warnings reappeared. Bobs auto is great. I drove up to Maine and had to have my car towed to bobs after getting a flat and didn't have the proper tools to change my tire. He even went though the trouble to put my flat tire back up under the car instead of throwing it in the trunk. Not something I expected after having to work with him on such short notice. On the second day of my recent vacation in Ogunquit, Maine , I noticed a problem with the brakes on my van. I checked online and found two reviews for Bob's Automotive that were outstanding. Now I wish to add mine. I called Dave at 9:30 on Tuesday morning and he told me that he would try to get to my problem as soon as he could and that he would indeed diagnose the problem for me that day, but he could not promise that the car would be finished. I resigned myself to leaving the car overnight. Thankfully, we were with other friends who had cars so although it would be inconvenient, we would manage. When I brought the car to Dave, I noticed how many cars he was servicing (all Maine license plates made me think that he is quite revered by the locals) and I waited just a few minutes because he was on the phone making appointments for someone to bring a car in two weeks from that day. I thought to myself, this guy really is busy- everyone wants him! Dave was very cordial to me and gave me an on the spot diagnosis. He showed me that the brakes were metal on metal and told me that he hoped it was not anything more. I explained that I was on vacation and was hoping to get my car back as soon as possible. Dave listened, smiled, and said he would do what he could. I left the car thinking I would not get it back until the next day. At 2:30 on the same day, Dave called me and said the car was finished and ready for pickup. I could not believe my ears! Dave is truly an exceptional mechanic and a wonderful man. He made room in his busy day for me and I wasn't even a local. I told my friends in Maine about him and the wonderful service he had provided me. What could have been a major problem for me on my vacation was handled quickly, compassionately, and with great expertise. And even more- Dave's bill was exactly what my own mechanic would have charged me at home! I still can't believe the way Dave treated my problem. I would recommend his service to anyone- he obviously cares about his clients a great deal- even those he knows he will probably never see again.
