I was afraid that my ability to steer might be affected by whatever was causing the noise. I decided to take my car to Aamco in Sarasota. The guy working there was very nice and even offered me a ride home while they looked at the car. A few hours later he called and said that it was the steering rack, and that it would be $980(parts, labor, and an alignment). I didn't have that much to spend. He offered $100 off the price, but it was still too much for me. I decided to call around to get a couple other prices. After calling around, Swift Auto was the lowest. I had been there once before to get my door handle fixed. I was extremely happy with their work, but never thought that their price would be the lowest around for my steering rack issue. I brought the car into Swift. The man working at the desk asked why I was bringing the car in. I told him the truth. I said what Aamco told me, and that I was there because they had the best price. He asked what the symptoms were that I had noticed. After I described the issue, he said that he would call. The next time I spoke to him, he told me they found what the problem was. It wasn't the steering rack. I thought to myself... I hope it's not going to be even worse...... Actually, there was NOTHING wrong with the car! After 2 1/2 hours of work(driving it, looking at it on the lift, ect.) they found that it was a flashlight that I keep in the rear storage compartment. It had been rolling around from one side of the compartment to the other and bumping against the walls. It was only happening at low speeds, when turning. I couldn't believe it! Days have gone by w/out the flashlight back there, and no knocking sound! After this experience with Swift Auto, I will NEVER go to another mechanic as long as I live in the area. They are the first shop I have ever found that I can completely trust. They saved me nearly $1000, when all they had to do was agree with the diagnostic opinion of Aamco, and perform the work. I can not begin to thank them enough. They are the best in town(just like all the other reviews I read). If you are looking for a mechanic, there's no need to look any further. They did a nice job patching my tire for $33 but then decide to try and defraud me. Consumers Beware of Tires Plus. My battery was completely charged when I dropped my car off at the shop. Yet when Tires Plus called me, after my car tire patch was complete, Tires Plus also said my car battery was completely dead. And that I needed a new battery. Tires Plus then tired to sell me a new battery for $248. Remember my battery was completely charged at drop off at Tires Plus. I said no way to a new battery from Tires Plus. When I went to pick my car up, Tires Plus had completely drained my battery and provided a digital print out showing my battery was completely dead from Tires Plus draining my battery. Attached is the scam photo of my battery drained scan. As a drove my car, the battery recharged and I stopped Tires Plus from Defrauding me. I even went to a car battery store to have them check my battery after. The car battery store confirmed my battery was good and that Tires Plus drains customer's batteries in purpose to Defraud customers into having to buy a new battery. Consumers Beware of Tires Plus.
