Based on their advertising, we took our car there for a minor repair. It was for a small crush in the right front corner of the car. We got an estimate, which assured us the full damaged item would be repaired. Upon picking up the car, the car's corner was repaired EXCEPT for the scratch on the lower plastic bumper cover. We were quoted over $800 and told this would repair the damage. Upon picking up the car, was told that to repair that scratch would be over $150 additional. Carsmetics did not complete their work within the timeframe they said it would be completed. I was not kept in the loop, even when I was told someone would reach out to me. When they finally said my car was ready to be picked up, the rear wiper arm was never fixed and the rear bumper had issues with the sensors. I took multiple trips to their shop, and the work still isn't completed. It's been almost three weeks, but they initially said it would only take a few days. We were hit by a person who had Allstate insurance. The Allstate shop could not take us so we went to Carsmetics. Per Allstate policy and procedure, all supplements to the original estimate must be documented and approved before the repair work can begin. The manager was aware of the process and had a printed copy in his possession. We called many times to check on our progress and only got voice mail. Our car was indeed done in 4 days, as promised, but the proper documentation was never done. We had to pay the balance of the repair work out of pocket! When we questioned this, the manager said he does not deal with insurance companies. He does not take photos to send to the insurance company. Of course, he neglected to inform us of this when we dropped off our vehicle. Sarasota shop advertises open until 5PM, went in at 4:45, and found one employee "busy" with a customer. Waited patiently, as he totally ignored us, never looked up, or said he'd be with us when he was finished with other customer. Finally, our turn, a simple dent from me backing into our mailbox........and the employee could NOT have been more rude! Instead of looking at the damage, he angrily stated that they close at 5PM, and we reminded him that we had 10 minutes of time left......nasty attitude and completely RUDE. Estimate of $900 for a little DENT !! Never going back. Glad they have so much business that they don't need mine. read more

I had some (not major) self-inflected damage to my car. Their estimate and final price were totally reasonable, and they had it done when they said they would. More recently I knocked something else off my car (I think they called it a rocker panel, what do I know), my fault again. I brought my car right over with the piece that I had knocked off to get a repair estimate. The manager took a look and told me that they'd fix right then and there for free (but would appreciate it if gave the mechanic a "tip.") I did, and he did, and all was well. I might have expected a slightly more "perfect" job if it had been a more noticeable place on my car AND I had paid for it ... but it looked fine to me and c'mon, where do you get service like that these days! read more

Obtained one of three estimates here for a dented rear hatch door on our Honda Pilot. The other two body shops would not do the repair without replacing the rear door and both bids were over $3200. These were both good body shops with fine reputations. Carsmetics gave a bid of $575 and in four days did an abusolutely beautiful job for less than one fifth of the higher bids. My car was rear ended and sustained minor bumper damage. I found Carsmetics through Google and checking their reviews. I was working with the other driver's insurance company so had to first take it to a shop that they determined in order to get an estimate of cost/payment. Then waited while other insurance waited for their driver's explanation which they never got. When they finally gave me the OK to go and sent the check a month had passed since the incident. Alan, the manager at Carsmetics, had already told me that they would work with what the insurance estimate gave them and if any further damage was found once the bumper cap was removed would work directly with the insurance to get the payment increase. I also got an independent estimate from another body place. Once I had the check my car was taken into Carsmetics. I arranged for 2 day rental with Enterprise. Two days later my car was ready, But, when I went to pick it up I noticed that the bumper color was not very close to my original color which is a custom color. Alan looked at the colors after initially telling me that the colors were not going to match perfectly. He admitted that the colors did need to match more perfectly and arranged for the car to come in for another couple days at my convenience. This time I used Uber to come and go since I didn't need my car for a couple days. This time when I went back the color was near perfect match. No further cost to me and done in the time promised. I would use them again for minor damage/repair. read more

Anytime the price difference is that much, it's easy to be wary, but they did a great job with a quick turnaround. Went in to ask about replacing an outer plastic door panel that had been ripped off when I left the car in a parking lot. There were several clips left in the outside of the door and a bunch left in the plastic panel. I thought that I would have to buy a new panel. Instead, the fellow spent about 15 minutes on his knees pulling the clips out of the door and putting them back in the panel, and then was able to snap the panel back in place. He didn't want any payment at all for his work. A couple of years ago, my wife had gone in there to fix a panel that had come loose in the front of the car and they didn't charge her either. I am amazed that a body repair place would be so honest and nice about this type of thing. Thank you guys. read more

They did not fulfill their end of the contract. When we scheduled the work over a month ago, they stated 2 hours on the work, worst case scenario because they had the paint code and they were supposed to have the replacement part primed, painted and clear coated so it would just be an equipment swap when we arrived. When I got there, I was told 6 hours best case scenario because they said "we don't have the paint code and the part needs to be primed, painted and clear coated first". WTF? I showed them that the paint code was on the quote of which they provided me a copy.I walked away extremely dissatisfied. read more

They got 1 star because I couldn't give zero. This is a rip off shop if you are the payer. I hit my friends car and scratched the paint. At most it needed to repainted the fender. But they padded the bill with install of new fender, paint, clear coat, and apparently the labor was being done a skilled heart surgeon. I assume as much because their rates are ridiculous. I just paid for the biggest snow job! This easily should have been a $300-$400 job, but it was over $1000! Of course it needs a new fender! How else would they pad the bill??? Stating they do quality work and that the estimate was fair. Hmmmm interesting!!! Because when my friend picked up his car and drove it 8 hours out of state, is when he realized they didn't connect the wires properly for his turn signals. So he drove the entire trip with no turn signals! Also the finish on his new fender looks like crap! It just doesn't match the rest of his car! It looks buffed without that glossy finish. This is the second car I brought in for body repair. I had a very positive experience a few years ago when I had to have my bumper replaced. The work was excellent and the price was far below other estimates. I had a lot of scratches and dents in my Avalon and again they replaced the bumper and repaired dents. Carsmetics is an excellent shop! Greg, the Store Manager, goes above and beyond. He takes his time with each customer, going over every detail. His guys in the back also go the extra mile. The second time I went to their shop, I was told honestly that I would be better off at the dealership shop, with my car insurance having issues with parts during covid. (It took me a month waiting for parts to finish it at the dealership shop.) I stopped by Carsmetics after that, and Greg offered to help me even though he knew I had the work done elsewhere. They do good work in 2-3 days usually, by refinishing it, rather than replacing parts, unless necessary. I'm a little embarassed to say I had another small incident since then--but I do try to keep my car in top shape--and it shows! It's a 2011, that people think is right out of the showroom. Carsmetics did the front and rear bumpers on my Hyundai Sonata and it looks showroom new! The front was badly scraped from the high curbs at the Sarasota Square Mall and the rear was brushed in several parking lot incidents. The car was looking shabby and now, it's my new car again.
