This establishment kept my husband's car for 3.5 weeks finding more and more repairs "needed" then finished it and demanded payment immediately even though our agreed upon cap was exceeded by $2600. Have a fat bank account, rental car, and don't be a black woman and try to talk to them because they won't listen to you. I tried to show them the funds would be distributed to pick up our vehicle and not only did they NOT want to see it, the guy walked away and the service representative backed him up saying that I didn't give him a chance to speak? How does showing a cell phone require me prohibiting anyone from speaking at any time? It doesn't. And when he called me ma'am, I said my preferred title is Dr and it was not respected; he rolled his eyes. If my preferred pronouns were they, I suspect that wouldn't be respected either. Both disrespectful and prejudicial. Cherry on top--I called back and they refused my call or blocked my number. Super duper professional. If I were you--take your car to the BMW dealer. You'll be treated more respectfully even if you pay more. It would be worth it rather than feeling like a stupid little black girl who doesn't know anything about cars. Do better. read more

Small shop doing big things. Had a check engine light and rough running engine on my BMW 535 solved that a few different shops over the past few years have not been able to figure out. Always in touch via phone, email, and text. Beth in the office draws up very clearly explained estimates. Bill was able to prioritize what repairs were needed now, and what could be done at a later time. Very much appreciate the honesty.. Also completed scheduled maintenance on my Mercedes and were even able to diagnose a problem with my stereo system. Labor rates are a tad higher than most indy shops, but with these guys you get what you pay for. They really know what they are doing with German cars when most shops have no idea. Will be making the 80 mile trip to work with these guys again next time around.. read more

When friends and family ask me about my vehicle maintenance and repair preference I tell them I use Automotive Perfections. Bill, the owner misdiagnosed my vehicle and then charged me for the part that was not the problem. When contacted and being questioned about it he became angry on the phone and eventually hung up on me. Does not like being questioned about the bill or being questioned about his misdiagnosis. Save yourself and take your vehicle to the dealership where they are professional and will take care of you. This guy is a joke. read more

These people LIED and conned me out of money! In my 46 years of age and 22 years of teaching and living in Jackson all my life, I have NEVER had such a DEPLORABLE and shocking business experience as I did a few days ago at Perfection Automotive. On Monday, I called to solidify an appointment. I made sure to inquire, "Before I follow through with the appointment, I just wanna make sure you don't charge dealership prices?" The receptionist, Beth, responded verbatim by saying, "Oh, no--we are far far lower than the dealership prices." Once Wednesday arrived, and Beth finally called with the estimate, it was $2,900 (for simple front end work that anothe place since is charging $700 total with a two-year warranty). Perfection Autimotive's $2,900 estimate also happened to be actually ABOVE the dealership's estimate! I was quite shocked hearing the estimate over the phone, and I told Beth I would think it over and be in later. I truly didn't know what to do. My mother drove me and came with me, and when I spoke to Beth in person, I noticed the estimate she provided was EXACTLY that of the dealership (I had pulled up the dealership estimate on on the ride over) down to every screw and bolt. That was a GARGANTUAN RED FLAG because I could easily surmise they they had derived the dealship quote from a database and never even did an actual diagnosis. Nevertheless, I remained cool and cordial, and further inquired if she was "able to get after-market parts"...She told me that even a month later, she would be unable to do so, and she apologized. I found that odd for a popular car five years old. Still, I remained very pleasant and cordial in my tone and told her nicely, " I appreciate you looking into parts for me, but just so you know from a customer perspective, I would never have made the appointment if you hadn't reassured that your prices were 'far far less than the dealership's'"...she again apologized that she would "not be able to offer a better price," at which time I also nicely inquired about the diagnosis fee that caused the estimate to be "above the dealership's estimate"... I also very nicely mentioned that it was atypical for a business to still charge that fee if a customer was going with them to complete the work. The dealership doesn't even charge a diagnostic fee. I also mentioned that it concerned me because of that in addition to the estimate being so high. I suggested that "customers should know when they make the appointment that it's possible they can't get after-market parts and that it may actually be above the dealship's estimates/prices"... At that point, the owner who had walked in, literally began screaming at me with his arms crossed, aggressive tone and body language as he snatched my keys and hung them behind the counter, while he loudly and nastily affirmed, "You are NOT leaving here without paying that money!" During this time, Beth (the receptionist) was amused and literally snickering at which time my mother said, "There is nothing funny." This was RED FLAG #3! I was utterly SHOCKED as I was still intending to go with them because I already had to pay their fee, and my car was already there. And I NEVER ONCE said I wasn't going to pay their nearly $100 diagnosis fee,. In retrospect, it seems like they are very used to fighting folks regarding their diagnosis fee...understandably because it was DEFINAFELY misleading and a complete bate and switch. I paid the crazy fee, and the owner insulted me and moved slowly giving my keys back even after the fee had BEEN PAID. He also smugly mentioned that I would "not be able to fight him in court because you signed the papers." Pretty odd and indicative of people used to projecting and responding defensively because they are used to this type of FOUL business practice! *** The owner will likely respond very cordially and feign good business as he did with several negative reviews...I found Ashley Esselink's review on google to be quite revealing into their reprehensibly BAD business! Original Review of 8/12/2014: I'm new to Jackson and was looking for a good local mechanic to take care of my 2006 Toyota Corolla. Gave these guys a try because they have a Toyota certification logo posted on the walls. I'll keep looking because they are too expensive, took too long, and were under-handed about parts. They charged $135 for a routine 5,000 mile maintenance check and it took all day. At the far-away dealership, it costs $70 and takes 2 hours max. They charged over $25 to change a license plate light bulb. They took off my new-ish high end after-market wipers and charged me for unnecessary wimpy new wipers. The tech write-up reported "wipers failed to clean adequately". NOT. A brand new windshield was installed 3 days earlier and the wipers were installed 6 months ago. Nice clean windows all the time. When questioned, "Oh, they are probably in the trash by now". I said, "Go get them." Guy goes around the corner and takes them off the workbench. As I drive off, my seats and seatbelts are out of adjustment, AND there's an empty bag of dog treats in the glove box. What! You used my car to take care of your personal chores, like taking your girlfriend to walk your dog and then left your trash in my glove box!? WTF. I am way past done with these guys. We have used Automotive Perfection a couple of times in the past and have been satisfied. My only complaint from the past was that they were slow and the work was not completed when they said they would be done. Recently, we took our Mercedes there for an oil change and an estimate on fixing the noise from the rear end of our car. They completed the oil change and told us the rear noise was caused by the rear differential and would cost $2,600 to replace. They have fixed that and the noise is gone. Here is where I have the issue though. When we took the car down for the estimate and oil change, we took the opportunity to clean the garage. No oil stains were noted. After the oil change, we noticed an oil stain developing. So, when we took it back for the rear differential, we asked to have that looked at. They said it would cost another $700 to fix. I would normally trust this business. The facts tend to give me reason not to trust them. First, the timing of when the issue occurred. No leaks before taking to them, then a leak afterwards. Second, when I called in the morning, Bill said he personally had done the work previously and noticed the leak but did not mention it because it was so minor. How many mechanics do you know who would not have mentioned a leak? Third, when we picked up the car, Bill said he talked to the mechanic who did the work originally and said there was no leak noticed. So, which is it? Did Bill personally do the work or not, and was there a leak when the oil change was done or not? Finally, Bill then said, "That is how it works. One day it works fine, and the next day something breaks." Hmm, that next day just happened to be the day after they worked on the car. I'm not accusing them of anything as I do not know enough about cars to have such an opinion. I just know a string of coincidences tells me that I should stay away from them in the future. read more

I was stuck in Jackson with a Mini that couldn't be trusted on the highway and they went above and beyond to get the parts and make the repair so I could keep my schedule and get back to Chicago. My Audi A4, cabriolet had a check engine light that would be on for a few days and then go off on its own. They found my cars problem within an hour of me dropping it off, had the part I needed the next day and I was all set. These people are very polite, efficient and did all work in the time they had predicted and at the cost they quoted. To top things off they have an adorable dog! read more
