We noticed an issue with the a/c so brought it in and they replaced the a/c compressor ($$$!!) the next day, free of charge!!! I can't imagine another used car dealership doing the same thing after the check had cleared. We're going to need to replace my wife's car soon and AutoFocus is where we will be buying that upgrade!! read more

I had a fabulous experience with this dealership and getting my 'new to me' van! The Honda Odyssey is in wonderful condition and just what I needed. They gave us a great deal and were very knowledgeable. Was super nice to be able to take the car for an hour ourselves, it was early on a Tuesday, and get to do a thorough test drive. The staff was super friendly! Had such a great time chatting with the people in the sales area and the others in the service area. Everyone was just so very nice!! When I pointed out a couple things I needed fixed, they jumped right in and did it! Then they wiped it down, topped off the fluids, and filled it up and sent us on the road! Wonderful experience!! I bought a 2010 Prius (Package 4) there a few weeks ago. It was very clean, with few blemishes, no visible rust, and had only about 54,000 miles on it. It has custom, black, aftermarket 17" wheels, and it runs great. The sales staff were pleasant and easy to deal with. They, and their sister company, Foreign Accents (auto repair) love Toyotas, and the Prius is one of the most popular cars they sell and work on. According to the "deal nanny" at my credit union, the car was priced fairly. I will drive it quite a long while. This is our fourth Prius! We still have the other three -- two 2009s and a 2015 Prius v Package 4. They are the most reliable and economical cars we have ever owned! Even if we have a traction battery failure in one of them, we save enough on other repairs and maintenance to more than cover that. The 2010 is mechanically sound. I've put over 2000 miles on it, mostly on I-40 between High Point and Cullowhee, or High Point and Raleigh. First full tank got 48.7 actual, hand-calculated MPG. However, it IS a used car! Not everything is perfect in a used car. That is to be expected when you pay about 1/3 of its original retail price. Since there is no remaining warranty, I can expect to pay for repairs. This car was missing the trunk mat and the cargo cover that are normally found in these cars. I'm sure I can find them online. The satellite radio antenna booster is apparently non-functional. PriusChat.com documents this failure as a VERY common occurrence. Although it can be fixed, I'm not sure I care enough about XM/Sirius to buy a $170 part or pay a dealer $700 to replace it, especially if the part is THAT flaky. I have two many other sources of audio as it is. The rest of the JBL audio system (AM/FM/CD/BT/USB/AUX) seems fine, and sounds great. I learned online, after trying it, that the USB port in the center console of this car was not designed to power modern iPhones (it works fine with iPods). It threw a fault code into the diagnostics screen. The 12-Volt power outlet next to the USB port in the center console didn't work at first. Close inspection revealed it contained a Tylenol tablet and a penny left by the previous owner! Vacuuming them out fixed that. Fortunately, the pill prevented the penny from shorting the circuit and blowing the fuse. (Location of the outlet in the FLOOR of the compartment is an unusual Toyota design blunder!) None of the preceding issues was really a dealer issue. They COULD have replaced the cover and mat and repaired the Sat radio... BUT, that would have added cost to the car, raising the price out of my budget. HOWEVER, the 12-volt battery that runs the computers, radio, lights, etc. was marginal. It may have been original to the car, since it read 11.5 Volts fully charged, and then 10.2 to 10.8 under load. (It should be 12.6 fully charged, and over 12 under load.) The car wouldn't start after sitting for four days, so I topped off the battery with another Prius, and took it back to Auto Focus/Foreign Accents. They replaced it immediately under their 30-Day "judgement call" unofficial warranty. All in all, these are good people to deal with! I am happy with the car, the experience, and the way they responded to the dead battery. They sent me some coupons for a free and reduced price oil change at Foreign Accents, so I'll be back. If you see them for a used car, tell them Bill B. in the red Prius sent you! read more

We lost a car unexpectedly and were forced to get a replacement quickly. We decided to get an economy car due to the long distance drive I had to make. After many long searches, we found a 2013 Prius at AutoFocus. We were very impressed with the staff and the car's condition. The only issue I could find was condensation in a front headlight. I recently visited and bought a used car from Auto Focus and what and easy and pleasant experience it was overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. I was hesitant when going to see the car I had identified on the carfax website due to some of the negative reviews I had read on Yelp. I have to say I was met by several polite and warm salespeople who responded to my questions with sincere responses even searching the internet to find solutions to potential problems/shortcomings I had read about with that type of vehicle. I have bought many used cars over the last 35 years and have never felt so confident that I had purchased a "good" car. I got the distinct impression that the salespeople did everything they could to ensure used cars were "fixed" and in as good working order as they could possibly get them to be, even taking them back for factory recalls. Readers need to remember that with some older cars it is impossible to predict what will stop working next and if they repair a problem when you take it back then what more can one ask for? While most online reviews of this establishment are positive, my personal experience with Autofocus has led to a fairly negative point of view of the place. I bought a 1993 Volvo 940 about 8 months ago. Two weeks into owning it the wipers locked up as I was driving down Wendover in the rain. I brought the car in, had the wipers fixed at no charge and went about my business. Two weeks later the wipers locked up AGAIN in the rain on Wendover. This time the wiper motor was replaced, again with no charge. It's great that I wasn't charged for the bad wipers, however it's quite terrifying to be driving down the road and suddenly be blinded. No one seemed to be bothered that my life had been endangered twice, more or less on their account. In fact when I related the details of my first white-knuckle blind highway deathwish adventure to the receptionist I was met with all the empathy and warmth of Nosferatu in a blank icy stare. I'm lucky I wasn't smashed to pieces by a semi or something. The staff can seem outwardly nice. However as I turned down their offer both times for a ride home and opted instead to sit in their waiting room, I became privy to some unsavory personal interactions. I don't think they're used to having people in that waiting room, with people usually utilizing the drop off service instead. Also it's a little tucked away. So I got to hear employees curse, make inappropriate jokes, and also talk badly about the customers they were dealing with. In fact when my wipers were repaired on the second visit I heard the resident salesman very loudly and sarcastically yell "TELL HIM TO HAVE A NICE DAY!"....the volume and tone he used were mocking and rude. These people may appear friendly to you on the surface but I can assure you they're pricks. So it's been less than a year now and in addition to the wipers going out, the driver's side window has failed and will no longer go up, the gas gauge doesn't work, the car won't hold wiper fluid because of a leak, and the muffler has a giant rusty hole that's grown in it. None of these things were apparent issues when I bought the car. I called about a price on the muffler and wasn't given so much as an "I'm sorry". When I bought the car I asked about Volvo parts being expensive to replace. The salesman responded by saying very sternly "you don't have anything to worry about with this car because everything that would be about to go out on it has already been replaced or fixed". This statement was either rooted in ignorance or dishonesty. I know it's "buyer beware" with used cars, and I understand that people make mistakes and that things go wrong but it's the attitude and character of the people who work at this establishment that I find most troublesome. My car did not have a warranty, so the word of the salesman was what I had to go on and it's what I put my trust in. These people need to learn how to apologize, how to empathize, and how to better serve the public. I hope that my experience has been the exception to the rule. read more

I bought a 2006 Toyota Matrix right before heading out of town to visit my brother in GA, when I got there I noticed the white/gray pinstripes were hanging off the car & I took pictures and sent to the dealer, apparently they just put new pinstripes right over the old faded ones without prep. I also suffer from very bad allergies, especially smoke. Well, the "cover-up" air freshener wore off as got to my brothers & it was obvious that a heavy smoker previously owned this car. The sales manager, James promised me when their ozone generator was repaired, they will take care of it, because he was sure a smoker owned this car. I developed a terrible sinus infection from traveling in this car and was seriously ill for 3 weeks & missed 3 days from work. I checked back every 2-3 weeks and the ozone gen. was still out of repair. I emailed James about 3 weeks ago asking for the 5th time to please contact me to replace the pinstripes, so it looks as it did when I purchased and to please return my email.....nothing, such a typical used car salesman and a coward for not calling me back or making good on promises. I would never buy another vehicle from this place. Too many other reputable dealers out there to put up with this garbage, and by the way, I paid just over dealer book value for this car, so it's not like I got a steal & should just deal with it. read more

Maybe this is a reputable company. I don't know because after several weeks of back and forth phone calls and emails with James Garrison, he decided he didn't want to sell the car to me after all. I guess I asked too many questions. I'm in Florida and he's in NC and I agreed to pay $450 additional over the non-negotiable price of the car to have it transported to me. He said he sells cars to out-of-state people all the time. All James did was send me an email with a bill of sale attached for me to sign snd return to him with a check for the full amount. (This was after a considerable delay because James just realized he didn't even have the title to this car and had to get it from the previous owner. Advertising cars on autotrader that you don't have title to. Interesting.) The bill of sale stated that there was no insurance coverage on the vehicle while in transit and that was my responsibility. I didn't know how the car was being transported and needed that information before my insurance company would add it to my policy. I also wanted to know when the car would arrive and whether James would wait until my check cleared before starting to transport it to me which could be several days. I asked if I could pay by credit card to speed up the process but James refused saying he didn't want to incur the merchant fees. I also wanted to know how the title transfer would be handled. So I called James to discuss all these things before signing the bill of sale and sending him the money He wasn't in so I left a message and I also asked the person I spoke with how things like the transport, insurance and title are usually handled with out-of- state buyers. He wouldn't answer and said I would have to talk to James. When I later spoke to James, he told me he wouldn't sell me the car and went into a speech about how long he's been in business, how reliable and honest he is and has never cheated anyone and how dare I suggest otherwise. I guess he thought I was just going to sign the bill of sale, send him a check for several thousand dollars and not know how the insurance would work, not even be able to get insurance during transit , not know when I would get the car or how and when the title would transfer. He was wrong. I would never do that and neither would most people. If he's a reliable, honest, competent businessman, I shouldn't even have to contact him to get these questions answered- he should have provided me with all the information along with the bill of sale and request for payment. But he didn't. And when he realized I wasn't going to send him the money until I got my questions answered, he got "offended" and decided not to sell it to me. I told him it was his car, he could do whatever he wanted with it and hung up on him. He wasted a lot of my time. But I still have my money and I'll find another, better car somewhere else. read more
