I was looking for some real poutine and AutoCity definitely did not disappoint. There were several types of poutine on the menu, along with many different burger options. Chicken sandwiches too. Definitely something for everyone, including vegetarian options. The fries are fresh cut and delicious. I ordered the vegetarian-style poutine, which featured a delicious vegetarian gravy. The serving size was huge! Definitely enough to share. My veggie burger was excellent. The server asked about the toppings I wanted, and there were many options. Service was extremely friendly and my food was ready quickly. Prices were very affordable, especially considering the large portion sizes. This location was only a couple of blocks from my hotel. Found this place on Yelp and based on the offerings, I made of point of stopping here before starting a pub crawl. This place certainly no frills and gave off a MI coney island vibe. Judging by the age of the place, Simon's seems like it was ahead of the curve from most places in offering freshly cooked hamburgers, made with fresh (and very good quality) beef, plenty of toppings to choose from, as well as fresh cut fries. It's literally all on display: you see them pressing the fresh ground beef into patties, and putting the potatoes through the slicer. The amount of toppings you can choose from is virtually unlimited: bacon, peameal bacon, smoked meat, fried egg, about 20 sauces, a few cheeses, all the veggies you'd guess and so on. They could just as well be called Simon's Prime Hamburgers AND Poutinery, since the poutine varieties alone take up a huge section of their menu. I was even able to try dill cheese curds which was nice. About the only complaint I had was that the curds were generally too big and as a result didn't melt properly. There's so many ways that you can choose to clog your arteries, but you pay for what you add - so you could probably still come out of here only paying around $10-11 if you keep it simple with the burger and fries. About the only way you could go wrong here is if you didn't actually like burgers and fries since they're doing it by the book. read more

I have not eaten a lot of poutine, however when I did have it I definitely enjoyed it. So, when we were on a recent trip in Canada we figured what better place to get some poutine. Simon's was recommended to us, so off we went. It is a small place. You go up to the counter to order and in a short time your food is ready. Looking at the menu it is obvious, as well as the Yelp reviews, that they specialize in poutine and burgers. Both made with great fries. I got the poutine with beef and my partner got the one with bacon. It was fabulous. The gravy did a great job of slightly melting the cheese curds. The fries were fresh, hot and delicious. The portions were big and I thought the prices were very reasonable. Then I realized that the prices are in Canadian dollars, so when I convert to US dollars this is really a good deal. I like how they serve it in a container. This holds in the gravy and allows the heat of the fries and gravy to meld nicely with the cheese curds. Amazing little place in downtown Windsor. Everything is made fresh, the front display case, you can see the burger meat patties, peameal bacon, chicken breasts. They freshly cut their fries with their cutting machine. I ordered the single patty, upgraded to a combo for extra $3.55. The fries that comes with this order is enough to feed my party of 4. It is huge! The lady was nice enough to put it on a separate tray for us. My party tried the portabello mushroom burger, and peameal bacon melt. My mom loves the portabello mushroom burger, full and packed with flavour. I love that there are many type of toppings, many complementary toppings including grilled onion and grilled mushrooms!! At other restaurants, these are premium toppings with a surcharge! But FREE here!! The burger is juicy, and a little messy, but oh so good! :) The only downside is they only have fries as the side, I wanted to have a salad, but couldn't find one on the menu. read more

Great stop for poutine in downtown Windsor. I ordered the Big Texas which has bacon, cheddar curds, onions, BBQ sauce, pulled pork, and gravy on a HUGE portion of fries. My husband had the Canadian which was with Canadian bacon and cheddar curds. The portions were huge, and honestly even though my husband can eat everything in sight and still ask for seconds, we could have ordered just one of the poutines and shared with no problem. I went to the Tecumseh Rd location but everything was awesome! I got the Montreal poutine which was on point. Dill cheese curds are an amazing addition to this dish. The portions are huge and you get a lot for what you spend. Under $10 USD got me a huge box of poutine that I couldn't finish. We didn't try any burgers but they smelled awesome. Their menu had a very big selection of burgers, specialty burgers and poutine, fries etc to choose from! I chose the Big Greek, which comes with Feta Cheese, Onion, Lettuce, Tomato & Tzaziki sauce. My sister got the poutine, fries were made fresh, and it was delicious! They made everything right to order, and called out your order when it was ready, asked if you wanted everything on the burger and prepped it. The place itself is downtown, and is basically a hole in the wall, the tables were clean, but the floors were a bit sticky, washrooms were clean, but you can tell this used to be a Quiznos. The fries were so burnt and bitter they were inedible. They were oily and flavourless, no ketchup, salt, or added gravy could save them. I've never had fries that bad in my life. The burger itself was decent, but the bacon on it was clumpy and dense, I couldn't chew through it. For the $80 price tag for 3 of us to eat, I was expecting something much better. The buns are soft and nice, and the toppings seemed decent, but the burger just wasn't tasty or memorable. No balance or deliciousness. And the fries, well that's just unacceptable. From the states, enjoyed a burger after a night of drinking, returned for more the next day. A female worker with thick framed glasses (no name tag) was so incredibly rude to the new employee training, it made me so uncomfortable and sad for the poor other woman being treated like an animal while training. So rude, so disrespectful, in front of a store full of customers. When confronted so stated "that's what the owner told me to do". I will NEVER return, as this scum of the earth human should never be in charge of any establishment. This person should be fired immediately. Came here late night after a night of gambling. First thing i notice is that they must go to a late night menu after a certain time (menu looks bigger in pictures posted). For food I went with a bacon double cheeseburger (good, along the lines of five guys actually) and the poutine (pretty good). A good place on a street full of late night options (haven't had them all so I can't properly rank this place among the other, however I can say that there poutine is nowhere near on the level of frenchey's across the street). I just ate at Simon's for the first time. Wow! What an amazing, classic, traditional North American dining experience. The hamburgers are made to order, from 100% ground beef stored fresh, no frozen. The fresh cut fries are piled on if you order a combo (I think I had the equivalent of 3 potatoes) and the condiments/toppings are not only fresh but available in any combination you can dream of. For those looking to eat on the lighter side, expect giant Greek salads piled high with olives and feta. If you still want something different, check out the omnibus of a menu that scrolls over your head and provides remarkably innovative takes on the traditional burger. The decor can only be described as "neo-retro" - lots of black and white checkerboard but with a twist - understated and subtle. It creates just the right 1950's familiarity. The staff are not your happy, smiley, "please to serve you" platitude types. They're nitty, they're gritty. They know their stuff and take pride in their work. It wasn't "hi, how are you today, how's the weather?" it was and unspoken message of "we know are stuff, we know our burgers, serious eaters only please!" Impressive!! The only "odd" thing about this place that I could find was that they had soccer playing on the television. That didn't seem to fit the vibe of the place on the whole. Finally, I do have to mention the size of the fountain pop cups. They only had one size and I wasn't overly impressed with it... perhaps refills are gratis though and I missed that sign... I'm not sure. It's only been open a week or two but I am confident Simon's is here to stay since the owner is a seasoned veteran restaurateur with another location in Chatham, ON that has become a staple of the community. Although you wouldn't expect it from a "burger joint", It is both a welcome and much needed enhancement to the downtown arsenal of culinary choices. It's the only one of it's kind and it compliments other fine establishments in the area. Portion sized are insane and will leave you stuffed with still plenty to box up. They have many different burgers you can pick or customize and also tons of different poutine options. I believe I ordered enough for two. I had the big Greek burger, it was AWSOME just wish I had gone for the double, more meat would have added just the right amount. Stopped in for a couple late night burgers awhile back. I have been watching their commercials and it reminded me of Veras Burgers in Vancouver. Unfortunately once I saw the Windsor location for myself it really falls short of my expectations. The burgers themselves were OK, the buns were soggy after literally two minutes and the restaurant itself seemed like it needs a good cleaning, the whole place felt greasy to me. They have the best burger in town, but they look like they have street bums working there. We just ate at Simons. And we loved it. The people were friendly and knowledgable, and the food was great. The restaurant itself had that classic burger joint feel which was still welcoming to our family.
