We got in right before the lunch rush, it seemed. Ordering was easy because their menu is simple. You either get poutine or sliders. You do get to add a bunch of toppings on either poutine or sliders. I wanted to go relatively simple so I just got some jalapeno peppers on both my small poutine and small (order of 4) sliders. What I noticed comparing to a few places on the south side of the border that offer poutine was definitely the differences in the gravy. I don't know enough about how Canadians make their gravy, or maybe it was just the Frenchy's way, but the flavor of their gravy made the difference. In a good way. Fries were obviously nice n crispy since we ate them immediately after ordering, even with tons of gravy and melting cheese. Sliders were decent, too. I liked how the buns were toasted with a nice crunchy bite to them. Not sure I would order them again, only because the poutine was much better, and I'd rather fill up on more poutine in the future. Living near Detroit you can easily look across the Detroit river and see Canada. I have made a couple of trips over to Winsor and in terms of food unique to Canada I always think of poutine! I checked around yelp for a place in Winsor and seemingly through what I saw online, Frenchy's seemed to be one of the favorited picks. One thing to note is that since this is located in the downtown area of Winsor the only options for parking were street parking. We came in and it gave a hole-in-the-wall vibe. Came here last night with a couple of friends after getting our butts kicked at casino Windsor and I have to say that we completely forgot about losings after one bite of frenchys poutine! This was our first time having poutine and I didn't realize the cheese curds are not fried. Everyone liked it. How can you say no to a poutinery? It's good but not great. The ratio of fries to gravy and cheese curds is a little heavy on potato. The styrofoam containers they use have such a depth of fries that the toppings don't get down to the bottom and after you eat the recognizable poutine, you'll have an entire side of fries.
