Jerry's Auto Center

I have driven past Jerry's many times when driving through Bellmore. I always see so many n ice…read moreused vehicles for sale in front of the building. I have heard nice things from friends about the shop. Today, my van decided to die while I was on the Southern State westbound approaching Newbridge Road. I called Jerry's to see if they could assist me. Jerry dropped what he was doing and immediately arranged for a tow. I was picked up within a very short period of time by the tow truck. I was gone so fast that not even the NY State Police or the Emergency Van that patrols the parkway stopped to help. The tow driver took excellent care of my van, even though it's a 1991 Ford. It was immediately put on a lift and Jerry arranged for a ride home. The expert technicians did a phenomenal job diagnosing the issue, replacing the alternator and changing the serpentine belt because it was also worn. They found another part (I don't know what it's called) but I think it might be the belt tensioner, that was in need of replacement. They replaced my eight year old battery (I can't believe I was so negligent in not maintaining my vehicle better) and the negative terminal cable. They didn't just cut and replace the cable end like most shops do, they used a factory part that is like one that would come from a vehicle manufacturer. They checked every fluid level and topped things off and also replaced the windshield wipers, which was something that was on my "to do" list but I completely forgot to ask for because of the stress of breaking down on the parkway. I felt like I was treated like family. My father always used to say that you always need a good family physician, a great Cardiologist, and an Auto Shop you can trust. I now have one. If I could give them an additional star I would.

We're fairly new to the neighborhood. We asked our neighbor who to use and he recommended Jerry's…read more Jerry was a complete class act, very helpful and explained everything to us in regards to the repairs we needed on my wife's car. Never once did I feel like he was trying to talk us into anything we didn't need. The work was done the same day we dropped it off, we needed a new calliper, rotors and pads. Jerry also threw in a free oil change and cleaned the car. Excellent service, very nice guy. Glad to have found him and his team. A+ all around!

don't know about some of the other viewer experiences , especially…read more those from SFO, I never had a service problem, always honored coupons, work done on time. My only "beef" is parts are sold at MSRP prices, plus then a credit card surcharge added on, much cheaper on internet or other dealers, did not used to be that way, otherwise I'd add another star. Also my extended Subaru of America warrantee price kept changing, it was cheaper to buy , at initial purchase time. When I came back to buy later, I got the buy now run around, fortunately I knew the fair market price offered elsewhere ( $500 difference),the salesman finally matched it, don't understand why give a loyal customer the high ball, to see what you can get away with.

I agree with Nicole Rs post, their sales team is great, service is another story (see below). I too…read morewas a former Empire customer. Go see Vinny for your next car, he's the best!!! Their service department is AWFUL! If you purchased any kind of warranty for your car via Subaru of America, they will find any way NOT to work on your car because they won't be making money off of you. They will tell you that appointments are full, that it will be at least two weeks if you want to drop off and six if you'd like to wait. What?!! The latest rendition stems from a tire issue, regarding a slow leak. Called in and got a response closest to "ghostbustas, whaddya want?" They wanted me to do the following: -call Roadside assistance - have them put on a spare - drop tire off at dealership (myself, as in haul it in and out of the car and then just leave it there) -wait until they inspect it (which can be however long and you're stuck with a spare, no time frame provided even after asking, the question went ignored) - when it's "ready" you then come and "pick it up" - wait there to put it back on Now if I have to wait there for it to be put on, and there isn't a scheduled appointment, it's at their discretion as to when it's ready, I should hop to it and be ready when they are? To check a tire?! Absolutely atrocious attitudes. I was told "people do this all the time" OK- let's see then! I have never heard of this practice ever, so I had to investigate a little, because maybe it's just me. I asked other Subaru drivers if this is something that happens with their dealerships. I was met with a resounding no. So if you're asked to "call roadside and drop off your tire", don't do it You'll be waiting a week at least!! I don't like being this person, but I hope it helps others. I also asked Subaru of America if this is a standard practice(just in case it is normal and it's my misunderstanding) And they are absolutely NOT supposed to be doing this, as it's a liability. Find another dealership if you have the Tire Package, I went to South Shore instead- met with same day service, which I had no expectation of. Also the first thing they asked me at South Shore when they answered was if I was OK and if I needed immediate help on the road. That's the way to do it. Not "call roadside idgaf bye." I don't mind waiting if I am being accommodated whatsoever- I was looking for a little compassion, and helpful service, and was instead met with warranty= not worth my time. Skip it, and save yourself the aggravation, try South Shore if you're a customer here. Significantly better experience.
