Andy and Shirley are the best. I came to ATS through a recommendation from a trusted friend after someone borrowed my car and then ran into another car. The front of my brand new car was pretty damaged. ATS was great. They took care of dealing with my insurance company and got the car fixed back to its beautiful, new state. That was about two years ago. Flash forward to a few weeks ago and someone sideswiped my parked car (without leaving a note) in the same exact place as the last damage. Again, Andy and Shirley were great and dealt with my insurance company's back and forth and got the car fixed super fast and perfectly. They are true professionals and very kind, honest people. I highly recommend them if you need anything on your car fixed. read more

It's never a happy occasion to find yourself in an auto repair shop waiting to hear the verdict on your beloved hoopty. Mine is a 1993 Acura Integra that was sitting idle in my garage for over a week since I was on vacation. It's certainly old enough to have had a bar mitvah and lose its virginity to an aggressive Saab named Miriam. Too bad we didn't throw the party before it was in critical condition since I could have used the Shabbat candlesticks to say a prayer. Circumstances were bleak. I was pumping gas at the Chevron at 6th and Harrison close to 11PM when I found the car wouldn't start. What's worse, I didn't have my cell phone or a pair of socks on. So I had to scamper back to my place, call Larry's Towing Service, and receive the instant diagnosis that it had nothing to do with a dead battery. My dreams of a simple jump were dashed, and the driver took me to ATS just as they were closing for the night (actually several hours after their real closing time). Andy took my car in, and he and his wife Shelly were kind enough to drive me home. After testing everything in the car the next day, he concluded the internal computer needed to be replaced, no small feat considering the car's advanced years. But after several days of relentless searching, he found one and gave my old Acura a second life. Sure, it was expensive due to the nature of the problem, but he gave me a significant discount on his labor and was thoughtful in keeping me abreast on the state of the repair. Kudos to Andy and Shelley for running a tight business and giving medical attention to an Acura with one too many face lifts. read more

All I gotta say is that Andy and Shirley took great care of us. Not once but twice....no wait. Three times. ALL THREE TIMES. The husband found ATS through Yelp...and thank you, Yelp. As their name states, they are totally reliable and trust worthy. I don't even know where to start. Both Shirley and Andy made sure we are taken care of and that we are not left in the dark about what was happening regarding the body work of our poor baby or the uncertainty of insurance coverage/jargon. They kept us informed as things progressed. Communication was great and they are super personable. Tips left and right regarding what to do to make things easier for me to get the car to their shop or at time of pick up when dropping off the rental. I LOVE THEM. Shirley and Andy are the aunty and uncle I never had that know the ins and outs of the collision-auto industry- super cool. Each time we bring the car home, she looks good- clean and unscratched. These are the incidences that bring us to ATS. 1. SOMEONE backed the car into another car, which jacked up the back bumper good. We needed a new back bumper. 2. Our back window was smashed to pieces, which caused scratches to the trunk door so a paint job was needed on top of replacing the rear window. 3. The hubs got rear ended while at a stand still on the freeway. The whole back portion and passenger side-ish (back vendor?) of the mdx had to be fixed/replaced. [All within a year of purchasing the car.] ATS is definitely our go-to place after each accident. *knocks on wood* read more

The thought of my car breaking down more than once is never pleasant, but if I ever had car trouble in this part of the city again, Auto Trust Services is the first place I would go. I ended up here after a spark plug flew out while I was exiting on the Bay Bridge. My insurance has roadside assistance and towed me free of charge to anyplace within a 5 mile radius. ATS was the second place I called, but I went with them because of how friendly they sounded on the phone, even an hour before closing. Andy is super honest and professional, and Shirley, who works behind the counter, just puts you at ease - I literally felt like I could have been visiting with family while I was waiting for my best friend to pick me up. Prices are reasonable and what I appreciate is that they are not the kind of place that will just throw in some repair you didn't ask for and charge you for it - Andy told me exactly what he did to my car, and included some recommendations for repairs since he knew I was from the East Bay and had my own mechanic back home, rather than try to convince me to get the repair done asap. 49 five-star reviews don't lie. Quality work and great customer service are what you pay for here. read more

Andy is very rude and impatient, and his estimate was shady. First, I had to sign something agreeing to pay a minimum $50 before he'd even look at my muffler, which was hanging on one side. He said he can't fix it because the pipe is bent and that I need a new muffler. I knew this did not require a new muffler, so I left, but not before asking them to shred the document I signed. Andy got very angry and accusatory when I asked the doc be shredded, saying "what do you think we'll charge you anyway" or something like that. Yeah Andy, I kinda do. I took it round the corner to http://www.yelp.com/biz/chris-discount-muffler-and-brake-san-francisco?osq=muffler where they were able to quickly replace a section of the pipe, saving me lots of time and money. read more

Andy and Shirley are the best. They're knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. I've been going here for years for everything from an oil change to mysterious car ailments, and Andy makes it his personal mission to fix the random little things I don't even notice. They have impeccable memory too - when I call and identify my first name and my car, it's like they have a mental imprint of everything they've serviced right on the tip of their tongues. I like this place because it's run by fair and just downright NICE people (even when I'm being difficult). Updated on 2/21/2013 (and probably on other dates) to further gush about how awesome they are, after a totally different negative experience elsewhere. read more

So i'm driving (ok, speeding) towards the Golden Gate Bridge on my 30th birthday... all of a sudden, one of those huge orange cone things with the black base jumped in front of my car. There was a car to my right, so I had no room to swerve around it, so I went over it. *THUNK* Hmm.. is everything ok? Seems ok.. Oh.. wait. As I cross through the toll plaza on to the bridge -- one by one, lights start turning on my dashboard, and I watch in horror as the temperature gauge starts moving to the right. Crap crap crap. I see signs all around.. "NO STOPPING ON THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE" Um.. ok, I turn the heat on full blast, and try not to push the engine too hard.. I finally make it across the bridge, and zip around the first exit -- a 270 degree turn.. I realize as I enter the turn that I have no power steering and no power brakes. Wheeeeee! I roll around the exit and then pull into a spot overlooking the City. Yah, so that was my 30th birthday. Later, my friend Jason made me feel a little better about my car, cuz his car caught on fire later that day, but that's another story. Oh yah... the reason I'm writing this is because I took my crippled car to ATS, and Andy fixed it up as good as new. Thanks Andy! I used to drive all the way down to Millbrae and Sunnyvale for my mechanic, but now, I only go like half a block, cuz I finally found a good mechanic that's nearby. Andy is honest and straightforward -- and Shirley is super friendly. Oh, and they recently repainted the building -- taking it from the garish lime green to a nice slate color now. But, they still haven't changed the typo on their sign, which reads "FORIEGN CAR SERVICE" -- hehe, typos are quaint. So yah, good mechanics are nice to have, so give Andy a visit. read more

The Best Mechanic Ever!!! If he can fix it he does it conservatively and accurately w/ a serious and knowledgeable approach! Shirley is amazing too. The glue that holds it all together!!! During my first auto accident, I urged the tow truck driver to take me to the nearest autobody shop. I had no inkling of where to even begin, but thankfully, I was taken to Andy and Shirley at Auto Trust Services where they helped me figure it all out. The shop is located in SoMa, in the vicinity of AT&T Park and the Embarcadero. If not for the fact that I live in the Peninsula, I would definitely see Andy for routine maintenance and tune-ups. On that fateful night, I was well taken care of here. Shirley immediately offered a glass of water and a space to work out the insurance claim, while Andy took to thoroughly inspecting my car. When all was said and done, the overall damage was to take at least three to four weeks to repair at the soonest. I was having visitors from out of town and planning to leave for a road trip to Sacramento right in that time frame. I told them I was hoping for sooner, and they assured me they would do their best. Fast forward to Monday of the third week. I called to check in with Andy to see how progress was going on my car, and he said he'd at least need until the end of the week if not sooner. Begrudgingly, I conceded, still hoping deep down things would be completed earlier. He said he'd call as soon as he was done, and I waited patiently. Thursday afternoon, and I get the long awaited call - my car is ready, a day earlier than expected! At pick-up time, Andy and Shirley were very informative, explaining the details of all the things that needed to be fixed and/or replaced. They even washed my windows and did some light vacuuming. Overall, my experience here was very pleasant and I appreciate the hard work Andy and Shirley put in to getting my car done ahead of schedule. They were even great about calling in with updates, i.e. when the car insurance adjuster came to assess the damages and/or changes to the repair plan. I would highly recommend this company and come again, next time for routine services rather than post-collision care. read more

Hi, I feel compelled to write a review of Andy and Auto Trust Services (ATS). I met Andy on the corner of 9th and Mission. My tire had just flown off at 10:00 PM on a friday night and I skidded through the intersection. I waited 3+ hours drinking with transvestites and 12 year old drug dealers at the corner of 9th and Mission for the tow truck. It never came, and I was sick of hanging out dealing with the car. Andy walked up to me in the middle of the street and told me he had a body shop, and that he would get the car towed for me. He gave me his card. Knowing I had insurance and trusting his face, I took him up on it. SCARY. From there, I got the best auto service of my entire life. At every turn Andy and his wife went above and beyond. Negotiating with the insurance company. Holding out for new parts instead of "refurbished." Getting my car earlier than I needed. Detailing it inside and out for free. Talking my ear off whenever I came in. Checking in regularly. Knowing I had a cross-country move ahead and making sure things were perfect for the trip. I told him that based on his calls, I would give him a good yelp review (even though I have never done one). I moved, the car was great. I was lazy about Yelp. Then, 30 minutes ago, Andy just called me personally to check on the trip, see how we were doing, and asking me to stop by and say hello next time I was back in the city. I ADVISE ANYONE THAT NEEDS AN AUTO SHOP IN SAN FRANCISCO LOOK IN ONLY ONE PLACE: Auto Trust Services. Thanks, Andy! read more

A couple nights ago we drove out of our garage into a rainy night and found our tire was flat... so we figured since we were already driving on it we might as well drive to any auto place we could find nearby. It was also 5 and places were closing fast. Lucky for us we drove into this place which is not even a block from our condo and begged Andy to take a look. He was very nice and got right to filling our tires and checking if there was a hole, etc. He was very quick and prompt and told us there didn't seem to be a hole and that we should watch it but it might have just been a fluke of parking too close to a curb or something like that. Andy and Shirley were very nice and they were very reasonable on a price. I would go back to them. read more

I had my first accident and it was not a great experience at all especially in SF. I called the closest towing company and the driver suggested ATS. I was hesitant as many of these reviewers but I had no real alternatives. It turned out to be a great choice. When I first walked in, Shirley really comforted me and made me feel calmed after getting in my first major accident. Andy and Shirley are really nice and hard-working people (they work late and stay on weekends to get your car fixed). After finding out that insurance would not cover my repairs, Andy gave me a very reasonable price and went above and beyond to try to get my car fixed at that price. I would really suggest ATS to anyone needing body repair or car work because they are really great people to work with and are hard-working and pay attention to the details with all their work. They get busy at times but they do an excellent job and are fast as well. They also go above and beyond what most other shops do to make sure everything is done right. read more

We found ATS through a recommendation of a tow truck driver - yes, I know what you're thinking - that there was going to be some kind of kickback or something, but the driver swore by these guys and he was 100% right!! These guys are awesome!! Not only did Andy work with us negotiating a deal with our insurance carrier after an accident, but he did top quality work.... and it didn't stop there... the body work was perfect, the mechanical repairs were top notch, then he did a couple of extra little repairs like touching up some rust spots, replacing a burned out bulb, then to top it off, he changed my windshield wiper blades!! Since this repair, he replaced a windshield on my husband's truck and is now servicing my Jag - absolutely thrilled to find such a trustworthy business with integrity, quality and superior customer service. We are native San Franciscans and have used a variety of different body shops and mechanics over the course of our driving lives, but ATS (specifically, Andy and Shirley) is our go-to shop from now on!! I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this service provider. Try them - you will be writing a review yourself next time!!! A+++ read more

I've had work done at ATS twice now, and not that I want to get into another fender bender but if I do, I would come back to ATS in a heartbeat. Andy and Shirley are the nicest, most welcoming, and honest people ever. They are professional, organized, accommodating, attentive to details, and will keep you in the loop throughout the whole process whether you are dealing with insurance or not. Most importantly they have mastered their craft and they deliver! The quality of they're work is S U P E R B ! Both times I've had work done, the finish and color is a perfect match and I pick up my cars absolutely spotless and perfect like nothing ever touched it. I cannot say enough great things about these guys. read more

LOCATION: Sign is small, so maybe hard to find if you never been there. Just drive slow. Not a lot of traffic around the neighborhood, which put you somewhat at ease while driving a troubled car SERVICE: I drop by because I found a big nail in my tire. They were very accommodating and helped patch up my tire in no time. They were extremely friendly PRICE: The tire patch cost $20, which I find to be reasonable. Before the service, they even asked me if I got my tires at Costco, because Costco will patch them for free. I appreciate their honesty OTHERS: I live in San Jose, but if I ever have car trouble in the city, ATS is the shop I would call read more

Honest, trustworthy, reliable folks at ATS, who provided services beyond my expectations-- such a rare occurrence in the auto repair category. My Acura RDX was due for a maintenance check which I thought would put me back more money than that which ATS charged me, based on my previous experiences with any foreign car repair. Not only did they complete a thorough inspection with the analysis of my car's fluids, belts, brakes etc, they were kind enough to buff out some dings and leave me with touch up paint for future nicks, at a nominal charge if at all. I can't recommend ATS more. S read more

I was referred by a friend and haven't taken my car anywhere else since. Friendly and honest staff, close to my office..what more could I ask for. They are also open on Saturday which incredibly convenient if you really can't make it in on a weekday. read more

I'm really happy I found ATS! After searching through Yelp reviews, it seems like this place was consistent with their work and results. I dropped my Civic off for some new brakes. The front were squealing, consistent with low or nonexistent pads and I knew I had to get this fixed ASAP. The woman took my keys and information and told me they would call me once they were able to look at it. Just as I suspected I needed new front brakes. The city EATS brakes. They had it repaired the same day. I dropped my car off at 11am and it was done by 6pm when I got off work. The repair was more than expected, but I got new rotors and pads for under 400. I'll be going back for a new caliper and a brake fluid flush as soon as possible. Andy and Shirley are fantastic people, we chatted up about the changing city and our love for it along with what they thought was needed for my car. I appreciate their honesty and care for my car. I will be back! read more

These guys are the BEST! I needed some auto service and after reading all the good Yelp reviews I thought I'd try out ATS. I couldn't be any happier with their work and recommend them to everyone! When I had my last oil change 4,000 miles ago the guy at some other shop told me I'd need new front brakes in about 2,000 miles. I took it to Andy at ATS and it turns out they still have 25% left! While he was checking the brakes, though, he also rotated the tires and gave the car a thorough looking-over. He found a couple other minor issues with very reasonable rates for repair. It's hard to find a decent and trustworthy mechanic, so ATS is truly a gem. Andy and Shirley are super nice a they now have one more life-long customer! read more

I've taken both my and my mother's car to this place for almost three years. They have the cheapest oil change I know of, and low rates for most repairs we've encountered. Andy uses only factory parts. More importantly, they're honest and very service-oriented. It's close to transit, but you can also wait at the cafe down the street when here for smaller jobs. This place is run by a nice, pleasant couple, and I'd like to see them go far. You won't be disappointed! read more

Andy and Shirley are genuine, sincere and honest people who really just want to fix your car for a reasonable price. I have been bringing my car back to them to get random oil changes and such, and they've told me what will need to be repaired in future, but the repair can wait. They don't tell me it's urgent, they really want to earn your trust. They make time for you don't pressure you unlike any other mechanics. Shirley is just a sweet heart. I would recommend people take their car there - they are honest and reasonable. read more

I absolutely love Andy and Shirley. They've taken care of my struggling Saturn on more than one occassion, from smog test issues to holy-crap-I-think-my-car-is-trying-to-kill-me trouble. They're super friendly and honest, and don't try to bleed their customers for extra cash. (unlike some other places - I may not know much about cars, but I do have the interwebs where I can find out what that job you're trying to sell me on *should* cost...) I was referred by a friend and reassured by their glowing reviews, and I don't regret it one bit. My only complaint (and it's just sort of a fault of living in the city) is it's not the most convenient spot for me to get to and from, especially by bus, to pick up the kid. read more

The name says it all. I've been entrusting the care of my car to Andy and Shirley at Auto Trust Services for 3 - 4 years now, and totally trust their services. I can now say I love my mechanic. Took my 08 MINI to Shirley and Andy for an oil change plus a full-on brake replacement -- they were swift and really pleasant to deal with! Total cost was less than half of what my dealer quoted me. Bonus points! I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet. I've been going to ATS for 6-7 years now, and have become good friends with Andy and Shirley. You really can't find a better run auto shop, where the mechanic is knowledgeable and trustworthy. ATS is an outstanding place for honest and reliable service. I have been servicing my 2004 Acura there since it was new and its still running strong thanks to Andy and Shirley. I have been going to Auto Trust Service for 5+ years-honest and as the name says, trustworthy. I keep returning for the reliable work and the attention to minor details. One time I went in for a new radiator, they replaced the radiator at a reasonable rate, and (at not charge) reinforced my falling off license plate and realigned my drivers door to close correctly. I enjoy spending my money at a true family owned and operated business. I highly recommend Andy and Shirley's Auto Trust Service. read more

I was buying a used car a couple of blocks from ATS and called them to make an appointment for a mechanic to look the car over before I bought it. They provided the service and arranged their scheduling to inspect it the very day I called. I like the car but it needed body work done on it. I asked ATS (Andy) to give me an estimate, which he did right then. The seller knocked off the body work estimate from her asking price, so I bought the car. Andy did a very professional job fixing the dents and scratches on the car. You can't tell they were ever there. Both Andy and Shirley are very friendly and I would do business with them again. read more

Regardless of how well Andy services cars, his rude attitude turned me away to one of many other 5 star auto repair shops in the Bay Area. His disdainful and arrogant attitude are completely inappropriate in a business setting. This is what happened: I brought my 3 series to Andy on Tuesday, 6/24, for an estimate on fixing my bumper because it had pulled loose while backing over a concrete parking stop. He quoted me $2000 to repair my loose front bumper. I was hesitant about the price, and I was considering taking it elsewhere for another opinion. I guess Andy does not like it when people go elsewhere for second opinions. Andy curtly reprimands me in a loud voice so that everyone around us could hear, "You drive this kind of car and you don't want to spend $2,000 to fix it? I have a $100,000 car over here that I could be working on." An expression like this is extremely rude and unprofessional, even if you are the only 5 star body shop around in the Bay Area... oh wait, you're not! I ended up getting some new clips and bracket installed for under $400 the next day. I feel sorry for anyone who gets taken by this business. P.S. Yes, I drive a 3 series, and I balk at dropping $2000 to fix anything. If I could be dropping $2000 on a whim, I WOULDN'T be driving just a 3 series. read more

Auto Trust Services is a very fitting name for this repair shop as they present themselves as humble, benevolent people who have earned the trust of myself and my companions while we trekked across California from the Orange Hills to the Golden Gate. Our story begins in Orange County, Friday July 26th, 11:30pm. I had just arrived home from a Weezer concert at the Pacific Amphitheater to the surprise visit of my two colleagues, John-Paul and Carlos, who had been seeking an excursion to quench their Mid-Summer adventuring thirsts. We had all been working long hours at the Ice Cream and Soda Fountain and as fate would have it, all had Saturday off. By 12:00am we had left on our one day mission; to explore the golden state; to seek out new life and a different civilization; and to boldly go, where many had gone before us yet we had not yet had to pleasure to do ourselves. We made the drive overnight in just 7 hours and had found ourselves parking which cost $10 for the whole day. We explored the vast city by foot, soaking in every last minute of the freedom presented before us. When we arrived back at our car towards the end of our escapade, it seemed our alternator was not properly working. I dialed the number for Triple A and was put on hold for almost 30 minutes before they had told us that they could not provide any service at all because they were having troubles in the Bay Area. Well I was having my share of troubles too, with a slowly dying phone, a job I had to be at the next morning at 10, being 400 miles away from home, and when hope seemed dim and bleak, a shining light pierced through the darkness of despair in the form of Auto Trust Services. We had called Auto Trust Services for the Tow Truck services at 4:30pm. The Tow Truck driver had been on another call but showed up at 4:55pm. I checked yelp and saw that Auto Trust Services closed at 5:00pm on Saturdays which made me feel as if I had no hope of getting to work the next day. We arrived at Auto Trust at 5:10pm and talked to Andy who told us he would diagnose the problem and have our car ready by Monday, and then asked where we were staying. We told him our anecdote and he empathized with us at first offering a motel to stay at, and then changing his mind and saying that he would diagnose the problem with our vehicle and then if he could fix it that night he would. We patiently waited for a response and within 10 minutes he found that our mechanic down in Brea (PS Fuck you Community Tires) had put the wrong transmission fluid in our car which had fried a lot of the internal circuitry. Andy said that his part supplier had the parts needed to fix the car and he could do it within 2 hours for a more than fair price. By 7:30 we had left the city. This small example of heroism in the form of a Car Service Shop has been a great tale for myself and my friends to tell to many. It's a tale of adventure, suspense, and proof that there are people in this world who are naturally good and genuine people. They stayed open 2 and a half hours after they had already closed just to help some dumb kids in need of a repair and didn't even charge overtime. If I lived in the Bay Area, all of my auto services would definitely be handled at Auto Trust Services. Thank you for being true to your namesake and earning my trust. read more

I just want to take the time to say thank you for everything you guys have done and want wish you guys happy holidays! The shop is clean! unlike any other bodyshop i have seen on the "main" autobody street. Almost feels like a upper class and they really made it feel like a home. They are on a quiet street which i like, because it feels so much more comfortable. I could not thank you guys enough. read more

Let's just say I've been meaning to start a Yelp account to review local businesses and now I finally have. The reason: Andy and Shirley at ATS. As we all know, finding a trustworthy mechanic is difficult. Especially with limited car knowledge it can be a daunting task to find a reliable shop. Since finding ATS I rely on them for everything from routine maintenance to major repairs. The assurance of knowing you'll never be taken advantage of is invaluable. My car was vandalized while parked at the parking lot at work. Four kids threw rocks into our parking lot and my car took the brunt of the damage. I was super distraught and had it towed since the back windshield was completely shattered. I had no idea where to tow it to, so the tow truck driver recommended ATS. It was towed around 6:30pm on a Friday and Andy called me the next day to talk about the car. I ended up using ATS to fix my car and it looks like new! They even took out the pen stainsd in the upholstery of my backseat and fixed a small scratch on the only side of the car that was not damaged free of charge just to be nice. Owners very friendly and sympathetic. Would highly recommend. read more
