Frustrating situation with Star One on San Antonio Road. I found two personal checks that were…read moreoverlooked from last year because they had slid under the stand for my computer monitor. They were over six months but under one year old. The app won't deposit a check that's over six months, so I called Star One and spoke with customer service to find out if they would accept the checks in person, since one of them was going to be annoying to try to get replaced. They put me on hold to speak with higher ups, then confirmed that yes, the checks can be deposited in person. I don't live that close to a Star One, and it was pouring rain, but it was worth it to make the drive to deposit the checks. However, I get there and the teller says she won't deposit them. I noticed the Star One contract says they're under no *obligation* to deposit a check over six months, but this doesn't mean they cannot. I've had an account with Star One for over 25 years, but I guess I'm just not important enough. The phone customer service was perfectly nice, and the teller in person was courteous (if a little condescending about the situation), but the inconsistency of information if a problem, and time is money (and they won't give me my money!). Customers need to be able to rely on customer service to give correct information. After all, in banking, I'm sure there could be much worse consequences than just a waste of time. Anyway...thanks for wasting my time, Star One.

this year, i was hunting for a unicorn of a toyota. my wife and i went around the whole bay area,…read morevisiting toyota dealers, trying to get the 2026 rav4 phev xse. because of high demand and low supply, no dealers actually had it on hand. we worked hard, going from dealer to dealer, and at first thought we made a deal with a certain other toyota dealer out in gilroy. it seemed at the time like a good idea to drive further out to try to get a better deal. however, that dealer caused a lot of headaches. after pressuring us into signing papers for a purchase; when the delivery date passed, they told me that they didn't actually have the car for me, which seemed to say that they found a higher bidder. a good friend connected me with ray khandan and ray ansari at stevens creek toyota. wow, this was a much better experience. stevens creek toyota was honest and open throughout the whole deal. they treated my wife and me with complete respect and courtesy the whole time. we got a great deal on the car, and stevens creek toyota really got me the car. we signed papers with lance over there. we did indeed decide to buy a service plan since it made financial sense, but lance didn't pressure us. ray ansari kept in contact with me while the car was getting delivered and prepared, and he met with us to hand over the car. he explained everything well. i'm really happy with our experience at stevens creek toyota.

But, in a market where cars are in high demand, supply is drastically low, and are selling for $10k+ over MSRP... thats as good as it gets. We were referred to Arkady through a friend. Hubby has a long history in retail sales, so the car buying experience has always been... eventful, as everyone knows. But now with 2 toddlers in tow, we weren't able to dedicate the months-long research, wheeling and dealing, and multiple dealership trips all over the Bay Area to get what we wanted. So we decided to give Arkady a try. We told Arkady what we wanted. SPECIFICALLY what we wanted. Down to the T. A brand new Platinum Highlander Hybrid in Pearly White. The dreaded chip shortage. Dealer lots were empty, cars were being bought up like no other, and the market is now flooded with buyers willing to pay top dollar from a supply pool that would disappear with a sneeze. Unfortunately for us, we just couldn't afford to battle with ballers, so we waited, hoping Arkady could find us a deal. Luckily, Arkady was able to place us an order with the Toyota Factory for our specific car, in our specific trim. We waited a few weeks, putting our trust in Arkady, and we finally got the call. The vehicle had landed and was ready for us. Everything we wanted, as we had requested. Even in this market, he was able to get us below the MSRP, which is absolutely mind blowing. He promised, and delivered in spades. His cost of service is worth its weight in gold. The process was painless. He was prompt with his communication and was always straight forward. On delivery day, we met at his office and spent no more than 15 minutes doing paperwork.... to buy a car... that was tailor made to our specification.... at a deal we were more than happy with... We cannot emphasize at how valuable his services were to us, and our family thanks him greatly. Remember the kids? They didn't even have time to even THINK about throwing a tantrum before they were buckled up in the new car and we were on our way. Arkady runs a no-joke, no-frills, get-it-done business. That being said, the way Sal has treated my partner leaves much to be desired. My partner called Sal, and after greetings were exchanged my partner noted Sal sounded off and asked if it was a bad time and Sal replied "well yeah I'm watching the game. Can I call you back" 5 minutes later texted my partner back "Hey bud my apologies I didn't realize you were Jamie's boyfriend I thought you were telemarketer you can give me a call back if you're available" He and my partner play phone tag for about a week as my partner was working crazy hours, but would always call Sal back once he realized he missed a call. January 2nd, Sal called my partner to check in, and left a voicemail. My partner calls him back a couple hours later after he got off work.
