The front end staff is always nice and always greet you with a hello--even if you just make a beeline to the drinks area. Unfortunately some people like to hang out in front and smoke weed and/or play their lottery cards. It doesn't change the price of gas or the quality of service but it's not a great experience for those who don't enjoy the smells. Lucky Tip: They have diet mt dew and a range of quest bars. The lady running the register thought it was the best time to leaf blow the parking lot t 7pm and not allow customers in to make purchases during a busy time when most people get gas. So I decided to just leave and take my business else where. The gas is cheaper than other gas stations in the immediate are but I had enough in my tank to go to another cheap gas station who had better customer service. Hopefully, the management is able to get better help at this location.

It has a mini-mart, no carwash, and I didn't see any window washer buckets. If you need a better variety of food, there's a 7-Eleven right next door. The station is a bit average sized, with just the two islands. The gas prices are average for the area. I didn't visit the mini-mart because there were homeless folks hanging around, and I didn't want to leave my vehicle unattended. Located just east of Hwy 101.

Prices are reasonable compared to some other places in the area, and overall it feels like a reliable spot. Good gas station and one I like to use when I am nearby.

In fact, my 240k-mile Subaru has been run almost exclusively on Costco gas thanks to the proximity of my work to a Costco Gas Station. Their gas is rated Top Tier™, and that isn't a meaningless proclamation, as TT means a higher quality of gas. They intentionally run it at 20-30¢/gal cheaper than the market average because they use it as a loss leader. * One of the few Costco gas locations that carries diesel. * 5% cash back on the Costco Citi card is kind of hot, especially considering our gas prices as of late. The Meh: * No amenities here like paper towels and window washing equipment. Hell, you're lucky they even have garbage cans! * Members Only. But I mean honestly, does anyone in The Bay *not* have a Costco membership??? The Ugly: * The Santa Cruz station is priced 50¢/gal higher than San José gas stations. Price - Reasonable, inexpensive. But I always end up buying stuff I do NOT need..... So for me it was a little wasteful. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 1994. Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. The guy was super rude and was staring at me since I pulled up after I walked into the gas station and asked if I can put 100 he would not let me because he does not take $100 bill bills then I asked if I can do something smaller and he said no then I tried using the pump and it didn't work so whoever's working that night June 1 at 10 PM. Tell them that they did a horrible job and I almost ran out of gas coming on my way home super late at night.

Compared to most gas stations this close (and convenient) to the highway, Sav-On Gas is a steal. Ocean Street also has quite a few restaurants and fast-food places, so if you can turn your quick stop for gas into a full refueling stop if you so choose. My pump was a bit slow, but it wasn't terrible. The man working here when I came was efficient, but he didn't say much.

When I went outside, the pump wasn't working. I went back inside, and the clerk told me she thought I had said pump #11 instead. Unfortunately, the customer at pump #11 had already pumped $32 worth of gas. She then told me that because she didn't know whether it was her mistake or mine, I would have to cover the difference. I know I clearly said pump #9. After I questioned it, she said she would refund $36 to my credit card and have me pay the full $68 again. The whole situation was handled poorly, and she didn't seem confident in how to correct the mistake. Now I'm left hoping my credit card is refunded properly. This was an unnecessary hassle, and I won't be returning.
