They are the most unprofessional and uncommunicative SO-CALLED business I have ever dealt with. First of all they did not even talk to me properly about what was going with my vehicle. I sat there for over 2 hours and then they told me that they needed me to leave my car and they would call me between 5:30 and 6 pm. I never received a call, I called them no answer. I called at 9 the next morning no answer, then finally at 9:38, the Secretary answered and after putting me on hold twice told me the mechanic would call me back in a hour, almost 2 hours later I had to call him back. I was then told that they were checking the water pump and would call me back as soon as they figured out exactly what was wrong with my car, this I found out after 5pm and several phone calls later. They also don't even have you fill out anything or sign anything agreeing for them to do work on your car and charge you for it . Instead of initially test driving the car, these idiots did a million other things according to them first and when they finally decided to test drive it found out it was the Fan Control Module. So in total they charged me $339.00 because they included 2 hours of labour for their own stupidity. I am appalled that people run a business like this and I have a mechanic who was servicing my car before I moved to Georgia who told me that there are some mechanics who will just rip you off and this is one of them. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED IT BACK PROMPTLY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR NEEDS JUST THEIR POCKETS.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Decatur Auto Tech, and I feel it's important to share…read more I brought in my 2008 Mazda Miata for a few specific issues, including a non-working cigarette lighter. I was quoted $90 for a basic adapter--far above normal pricing. After I questioned it, they agreed to reduce the charge by $60, but only knocked off $30 in the final bill. More frustratingly, part of the reason I agreed to the repair was their assurance that it would restore connectivity to my stereo. It didn't. When I brought this to their attention, their response was dismissive and unprofessional--essentially telling me "tough luck," with no attempt to stand by their work. They also performed services I never explicitly authorized, and only informed me of a $60 increase in the cooling fan price after the work had begun--leaving me with no meaningful opportunity to make an informed decision. What's worse, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being taken advantage of as a woman. The way I was spoken to, disregarded, and overcharged raised red flags that I believe many women will unfortunately recognize. It was condescending and exploitative. Between the inconsistent pricing, unauthorized work, failed repairs, and dismissive behavior, I left feeling unheard and taken advantage of. I won't be returning--and I urge others, especially women, to proceed with caution.

** 1/5 -- BEWARE!**…read more Decatur Auto Tech is the definition of a **rip-off shop**. I took my daughter's car in for an A/C issue -- an issue they had supposedly "fixed" not long ago. The car should've been under warranty, but they still tried to charge a **$75 diagnostic fee**. When I called them out on it, their **clueless front desk guy** awkwardly agreed to waive it. Spoiler: it was STILL on the final invoice. They kept the car overnight and then **called my daughter LATE at night** -- not even me -- to tell her the cabin filter needed replacing. When I followed up the next day, I was hit with a quote of **$290**. For what? Here's the breakdown: - $75 diagnostic fee (that was supposed to be waived) - $90 for a cabin filter (you can buy a good one for $20!) - $40 for two cans of freon - $160 in labor What makes it worse? **They did this same exact job the first time for $120.** How do you go from $120 to $290 for the SAME issue? This place is shady, dishonest, and clearly **preys on people who don't know much about cars** -- or who send their daughters in hoping for honest service. After reading more reviews, it's obvious I'm not alone. This place **thrives on deception** and **overcharges for basic work**. **Avoid Decatur Auto Tech like the plague.** They're not mechanics -- they're scammers in uniforms.

AVOID! My advice: find a trusted local or family-owned mechanic such as Pure in downtown Decatur,…read moreor the "Atlanta Car Doctor" near the DeKalb Farmers Market on East Ponce. DONT go to a corporate place like True that makes its money on overpriced upsell services after their "free" diagnostics, and likely cuts costs to increase their margins by hiring inexperienced mechanics and technicians. I had taken my car to a local repair shop who honestly told me that they couldn't determine my engine problem after several hours of diagnostics and swapping out parts. Since they couldn't find it, they only charged me for 1/2 hour of labor, or about $80. I then took the car to corporate-owned True, told them everything that had already been checked, and asked them for further diagnostics, thinking it was a larger operation, and they would have more specialized technicians. Wrong.... Instead, they repeated everything my local car repair place already checked, charged me over $900 (yes over $900!), only to tell me "its something in the engine". They also tried to upsell me tire services at prices 25% more than I would find anywhere else. Go local.
