Took my 2012 Jeep here for a few things that needed to get fixed (lights, and air vent issue). This place fixed my aggressive blinker even though another shop told me a year ago that it's not fixable/would cost too much money to get fixed. Received several updates during the repair process to make sure I was up to date on everything that was going on and to make decisions on whether I wanted to leave the car there while waiting for a part to arrive. I came here after searching for a place that would be fair for a MD vehicle inspection. They identified one issue with my shocks, which they fixed and then passed my vehicle. The car drove much better after having the shocks replaced. Quality work. I also had my brakes and rotors replaced at the same time since they were worn. After they were both replaced I noticed a squeaking sound when braking, especially while turning at a low speed, 5-10 mph. I didn't think too much of it because I attributed it to the break-in period, but the squeaking continued, even after washing the car. I called and left a message, but didn't get a response for several days. I called a second time, left another message, and they returned the call shortly after. I brought the vehicle in, explained the issue and they took a look. I'm not savvy with the terminology, but I believe they said the caliper was slightly out of alignment, which they realigned, and they de-glazed the brakes. I was charged for the labor of the above maintenance for the brakes/rotors they had originally installed. The brakes still continue to squeak and now make a grinding noise. It feels as though it's a possibly warped rotor as the grinding sound happens at a certain point of each revolution of the wheel during application of the brake. Not sure what the issue is with the brakes/rotors, but will need to have them looked at again. Curios to know if the parts are OEM parts or aftermarket. Overall, this seems to be a quality run business. They have a passion for customer service. The transit service they provide if you are having work done is extremely helpful if you don't have access to a ride. read more

I took my car in because the air stopped working. They didn't take my car immediately but got me in a timely manner since I was from out of town. The price may be a little high but you definitely get what you pay for. They made repairs and explained everything to me. The mechanic suggested a couple of potential repairs that we needed but since they were absolutely necessary the guy in the office didn't mention them. I only learned of them when I picked up the car and spoke to the mechanic. The office guy told me later he didn't want me to think they were looking for extra things to repair since it was my first visit. They send me a mice card with a discount count. When I moved out a few years ago and got married, I wasn't able to provide my parents with my mechanical skills anymore. We have sent their cars to Auto Sense multiple times, and each time the vehicle has been repaired properly and as we expected. I say each time, as they have multiple cars, needing multiple things. Never a repeat repair in our scenario. The last service I had issues getting the vehicle to the shop but they worked with my schedule (we had planned well in advance) and once they had it in they called me about some repairs they recommend. Stated that the idler pulley was bad (something on the engine had a squeak, I knew they from being on the phone with my mother) and needed to be fixed. The serpentine belt looked fine (and it had just been replaced) but I had them do it anyway since it had to come off and go back on for the pulley anyway. They've serviced the cars multiple times, and been honest and responsive throughout the every repair. read more

Don't waste your time. There are better options in the area that actually want to earn your business. I've been coming here with my cars for a while. A while ago I brought mine here for an oil change and a tire rotation. I made an appointment but they couldn't find it when I got there. No big deal, they got me in anyway. The guy working the front desk wasn't partciularly friendly but he was professional enough. I didn't write a review then because I noticed that after I got my car back the steering wheel didn't sit straight when the wheels were going directly forward, it was decently off centered. The car was brand new and I know it wasn't like that before I brought it in. I wanted to give them another chance before passing judgement. Lately I've suspected the AC in my wife's car needed charged but I can't for the life of me find the low pressure service port for the AC. I took it to Auto Sense just to see if someone was willing to take 5 minutes and show me where it is, I was even willing to pay like $20 for their time. The old man working the front desk told me that it would cost his staff time for that and he wasn't interested in showing other people how to fix their car. I told him I'd been coming here for a while, he was a lot more likely to make more money off of me if he'd just helped me out. Instead, he was super rude, talked down to me, and didn't even stop eating his lunch long enough to have a conversation with me. That's fine. I will take my cars elsewhere to get them serviced. Somewhere I'm confident they'll want to help and do a better job, anyway. I fully support local businesses but I won't come here again. ***UPDATE*** "Big Ken," I didn't ask you to fix my car for me. I didn't ask you how to release the coolant from the port or how to add coolant to it. I didn't ask you to get your hands dirty in the slightest. As someone who has spent a fair amount of money there in the past, I just asked that you show me where the port was. None of that, regardless, changed how rude you were when I was there. You were condescending and rude. I did take my car to a local competitor, they did show me where the port was. It took them 3 minutes. I addressed the issue on my own and now they've earned my business going forward. Any money they might have made from me from that one issue will be more than recouped by having my business going forward. Thanks for reaching out but you wasted your time. The $$$ is more important to you than the customer. read more

I've taken a couple of vehicles here and they have been very friendly and responsive. The work was done well and the pricing seemed reasonable. I had a repair order for a taillight and they provided me with a labeled envelop and stamp and told me where the nearest mailbox was so I could quickly and easily return the repair order. I really appreciated their extra effort. They also call a few days later to make sure you were satisfied, which is a nice touch. This will be my repair and maintenance shop moving forward. read more

Took my car in yesterday to investigate 4-5 items Toyota recommended. Ken and company inspected thoroughly and performed Fuel Injection Cleaning Services. The other items were determined not to be needed at this time. I felt that they truly have the customer in mine and only perform required pepairs and fair and reasonable priced. They got me in and out quickly without an appointment. I even used their shuttle service to and from home when dropping off and picking up the car. At issue was a very bad transmission fluid leak on a new rebuilt transmission I installed myself. I wasn't exactly sure where the leak was coming from or how to fix it. It was determined to be the new transmission's internal driver's side axle seal. Detroit Axle (where I bought the transmission from) used a faulty or incorrect seal on the rebuild and this was the source of the leak. I like that Auto Sense promptly and correctly identified the problem and fixed it. I also like that they didn't find or create problems that didn't exist, or try to upsell or price gouge me. Communication was good. Cost was reasonable. A comparison of the leaking incorrect axle seal with the correct one Auto Sense installed and confirmed with Ford was included on the invoice. I may use this information to try and get reimbursed for the repair cost because the transmission is under warranty. I've had quite a few bad experiences with local repair shops. I've seen high levels of ineptitude as well as folks who'll eagerly take my money, but not find the root cause of a problem, or create problems that didn't exist prior to them touching my car. These experiences helped push me to educate myself as a driveway/shade tree mechanic and take on jobs like installing transmissions myself. Past disappointments made me reluctant to take a chance and try a new shop. I'm very glad I took the chance because I was very impressed by the courtesy, knowledge, professionalism and customer service at Auto Sense. They may have earned my repeat business. read more

For years I brought my 2003 Jetta to Autosense for repairs. I found them soon after moving to Maryland and needing an inspection. They were close to my job and could get my car in quickly. Fast forward a few years later and my car needed some major work done on the tires. I took it to Mr. Tire in Pasadena was was given an outrageous quote and horrible service. They didn't even explain well what was wrong and being quite clueless about cars, it left me wondering what my car really needed and if their quote was high as I'd suspected. I remembered the great service I'd gotten from Autosense before, so I brought my car back. Not only was the issue explained in a way I understood, I was even shown the problem under the car and with the tires. I saved close to $400 by using Autosense and felt so well taken care of. I went back for oil changes and little hiccups here and there, and they always took such good care of me and went above and beyond more than once. After trading my older Jetta in and buying a brand new 2014, I figured I'd use my dealership for any work because I could get free oil changes and some other perks. A little paint chip on the door that needed fixed turned into a week long event. Only TWO days after driving my car off the lot. I was upset that I only drove my car for 2 out of the first 7 days I had it, but I understood. And then I checked the mileage. I was told it was put on a truck to be taken to a body shop, but the extra over 50 miles on it told another story. I let it go, but then a while later I received a notice I'd driven through a toll without paying. Never having even driven through a toll in Maryland, I was obviously confused. Well, the dealership did it. So, I decided I'd go back to Autosense for oil changes and any work it'd ever need. Today I took it in for my first oil change at just under 5k miles. I was once again reminded why I love this shop. The staff is so friendly and the fact that they'll take me to work makes it even better. I trust the staff at Autosense with my car, which is like my baby. I know they'll take good care of it and be honest with me about any issues. I'd much rather take my car here and pay for an oil change than use a dealership I don't trust for free. They're worth every dime! I love knowing I have a shop I can trust, just around the corner from my work. They do an amazing job and I always drive off with a smile on my face. If you need a mechanic that you can trust, look no further. They're brilliant at what they do and I'm so thankful they're here! Wonderful, wonderful shop! Family owned business that does not try to sell stuff to get you to spend money. A little pricey but trust goes a LONG way. I'd rather spend a little more upfront than have it done three times for what would seem cheaper. I always get a call a few days after service to make sure I'm happy. Extremely friendly people, especially Rose! Be warned, I was charged a $135 diagnostic fee. In all fairness, big Ken did warn me of this when I dropped off my car. Other yelpers should know about the upfront fee- code pulls are free, anything beyond that will cost you. That's not the reason for the 3 stars, but it is something to consider. I brought my car in with a check engine light on and oil leaking from the engine. My code reader failed to pull a code, and I was concerned about driving it with an oil leak. In retrospect, I should have taken it to Hondaman-pasadena, who I've had both good and bad experiences with over the years (see my other review). Little Ken called me about a day and a half later with the results. About $2,000 in repairs with no guarantee that any of my issues would be fixed (ie more repairs could be needed). On a car worth maybe 4,000 on a good day, the costs were approaching the "beyond repair" mark for me. Ken wasn't pushy or forceful, he simply listed ALL of the issues he noticed during this inspection. This brings me to the reason for the 3 stars. One of the repairs was a timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket replacement, between $700 and $800. By no means a small sum of money, and close to half the repair bill. He said it needed to be repaired based on the possibility that oil had leaked on the timing belt (a very bad thing). No confirmation of that fact, just a suspicion. Now, I don't expect them to fully disassemble my car for a diagnostic fee, but you would think they would look at least look into the major concerns of the customer. To skip to the end of the story, I brought it to Hondaman a few days later. They confirmed all of the repairs from Auto Sense were needed (not immediately, luckily), except the timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket. In fact, the timing belt and water pump had been replaced relatively recently (I bought it used), so replacing them would be a total waste. When I mentioned the concern of oil on the belt, they gladly looked into it and decided it was a nonissue- for free. I decided to replace the valve cover gasket anyway in an attempt to stop the leaking oil, but I almost had to fight to have them do the repair (they didn't think it was necessary)- an odd thing at a car shop. Maybe at some future point I'll give Autosense another chance- when Hondaman disappoints me again- but Hondaman was the clear winner this round in my book. read more

I called to schedule a tune-up on my car before leaving for a road trip. Unfortunately they didn't have any availability to work on my car this week, but the service manager was incredibly helpful, despite the fact that they wouldn't be getting my business. He was honest in saying that I probably wouldn't need a full tune-up if there aren't any distressed signs from my car. He then suggested what services I should get completed on my car to ensure a safe trip. While I can't speak to their actual work, I was beyond impressed by their level of customer service, even when they knew that I wouldn't be able to bring my car to them. Good people! read more

This is a family owned business. Ken Jr and Ken III are both great people, they take their time to explain what is wrong with your vehicle and are always very friendly! What I loved about them was their honesty. I took my car in for a Maryland State Inspection and they were transparent with me from the start, on two occasions informing me of what was wrong with the car and saying that it didnt need to be fixed by an expensive repair, but rather by inexpensive home remedy. They even take you to and from your home if they are going to keep the car. This a phenomenal business that I am going to take my car to for any of its needs. read more

I found this shop through repairpal.com. I was fairly certain my drive belt tensioner needed to be replaced but had not had the issue professionally diagnosed yet. They reached out to me within a couple hours through email which I really appreciated since my work schedule makes it difficult to take and return calls. After getting some additional vehicle information from me , they emailed me an invoice with a quote for the work and since I had already done some research on the estimated cost of the repair - part and labor , I knew the amount they proposed was more than fair and actually on the lower side of what I was expecting. The shop was less than a mile from my house and I was able to make an appt for the next day. When I arrived at the shop everyone I encountered was very friendly and I was even greeted by name , they quickly took my car back and called me out to make sure they were pinpointing the correct noise I was hearing. Not long after ,they confirmed what I had assumed was wrong with the car and were able to find the part needed and have it delivered to the shop within the hour. What I really appreciated was maybe 20 minutes after the part was ordered I overheard the gentleman call the company bringing the part to confirm it was on the way! They offered to shuttle me back to my house so I didn't have to sit and wait which I thought was great for a smaller shop ! While I waited the owner was very friendly to not only me but anyone else he dealt with. I had a great experience with this shop and according to all of their positive reviews it seems lots of other people have as well. This will definitely be my go-to auto repair shop going forward. The work was done quickly and my total was the same as I had been quoted so there were no unpleasant surprises. Now my car is as good as new and I'm happy to say that was the least miserable auto repair experience I've ever had. read more

Autosense was the absolute worst auto mechanic experience of my life. Every stereotype of a bad mechanic was in play with my recent visit. I was charged for work that did not need to be done. The work was not done correctly the first time or in a timely manner when I returned the car for the same issue. I was lied to and my life was endangered when I drove off and discovered that four lug nuts were very loose. Most of all, I truly loved having "you have an old car and ANYTHING could go wrong with it" thrown in my face. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Autosense. read more
