Ray Williams at Auto Right was amazing! I went in to buy a replacement car because my beloved car had just died with a fix-it price deeming it unrealistic to fix - or so I thought. When I went to check out the car Ray had for sale, he told me that my old car could in fact be resurrected for much less than I was originally told, creating an option to fix the old car and either keep it or resell it! That was great news!! When Ray said he only wanted to make me happy as a customer, that's exactly how it felt. He was open and honest. Ray was willing to lose a sale on one of his cars by enlightening me to the fact my old car could be fixed. I did still end up purchasing a car from Ray and the process was seamless! I never felt any pressure to buy, and Ray was completely transparent with everything! How often can you say that about a car salesman?! I don't have family that lives in the state, so I really, REALLY appreciated Ray's honesty and his fatherly manner, I felt like he had my best interest in mind, and that is priceless! He was always available and willing to answer any and all questions I had, and share his knowledge with me. What a nightmare, being sold a dangerous and defective vehicle by this business owner. I would enter "zero stars", but I cannot. Mr Williams told my daughter and I, at "AutorightSales", he purchases vehicles at auction, checks them over thoroughly, makes appropriate repairs (makes them "Autoright!), and insures they are safe before adding his fee and selling them to consumers. We talked for over a year, and I paid $5866 in October, 2014 for a 2004 Mazda 6 with a Blue Book value of $4250, happy to pay a premium for Mr Williams expert help in getting a solid vehicle that my daughter would be safe driving to school and work in Greeley, and to Littleton to visit family. Mr Williams quotes on his Yelp entry; "I aim to serve each of my customers in their vehicle needs by living this mantra: Serve God, Serve family, Serve my customers."..."I believe in doing the best that I can for my family and society that it might help them have a better life and thereby serve God. Because of this I don't fit the mold of most Car dealers..."..."I believe that honesty and integrity serve our lifestyle better than pure profit. Because I have had so many experiences with vehicles, my knowledge of the market and vehicles is vast." On November 17, the car was hit while parked curbside in Greeley and towed to Auto Collision Specialists in Greeley. Owner Mike Morris and the employees at ACS are truly "First Class". Ray Williams sold me this car with major suspension and steering damage that existed prior to its' being hit, period. ACS retained parts; State Farm Insurance has pictures, very detailed ones. Protective boots torn, bushings shot, suspension, cradle and steering components compromised, cut with a holesaw, tampered with, damaged, altered and jury-rigged with inadequate and dangerous fixes. What is most offensive is that Mr Williams gushed on and on during closing that he has three daughters himself, and would never put my daughter in an unsafe vehicle. After the car was repaired way beyond our expectations, I drove it to a private mechanic on December 19th, as the air intake resonator box is gone, the intake "duct-taped", causing poor performance and fouled plugs, costing an additional $300 to fix. The plugs will continue to foul with airflow altered the way it has been until fixed properly. I attempted to discuss the ACS findings with Mr Williams on the morning of December 22 by phone. He immediately became very reactive, extremely defensive, accusing me of being combative and of defaming him, in my very calm but direct attempt to 1) inform him what was happening with an automobile that he sold me, and to, 2) to discover why I had been sold such a vehicle. Mr Williams did, however agree to conference call with Mike Morris and me. During that conversation, Mr Williams repeatedly attempted to evade, deflect and ask multitudes of questions to confuse the issue, doing all in his power to attempt to plant other issues of doubt. He disappeared from the conference call in the midst of answering to Mike Morris's specific questions about the unsafe condition of this vehicle. Afterwards, I called Mr Williams to discuss resolution, and he again became very defensive, refusing to discuss the situation with me on the phone. He informed me that he was sending me a lengthy email, and I have had no further conversations with him since. For the rest of that day, I endured pages of convoluted emails, Mr Williams doing everything in his power to evade, deflect, and invent other issues. Sharing that I was a hard-working single dad of three, he questioned my morality, my reasons for being a single dad. I didn't tell this "Christian", that my wife passed away 11 years ago at age 46 due to an undiagnosed heart condition, when my children were 9, 11, and 14 years old. In his final email he admitted to taking my $5866 without ever inspecting the suspension system, and I quote, "I never said to you EVER that I visually checked the suspension or promised you that I would...", "paying a 3rd party...was the right thing to do if you had trust issues". I understand. To admit selling such an unsafe vehicle would be outright negligence by a competent licensed Colorado auto dealer. "Don't look, don't tell", makes more sense. Very clever; building a business on "Autoright" philosophy, promoting this as Gospel, not putting it in writing. I never considered having a third party look at the vehicle; it's what we paid HIM for. Caveat Emptor. I only wanted an apology and an acknowledgment for selling me an unsafe vehicle. He sent me a final email on December 23 apologizing for the way I feel. I paid a premium price for poor value and an unsafe and dangerous vehicle, from a business owner who uses "God", "family", "integrity" and "honesty" as buzzwords. There is such a thing as an honest used car salesman and he owns Auto Right Sales! His name is Ray Williams. This dealership found me the perfect car at the perfect price for me. Mr. Williams got the Car Fax and checked and discussed the vehicle history before even having me test drive. He told me up front how he works. He goes to auction, buys the car his customers want and even tells the customer up front his profit margin! Ive never met a dealer willing to tell you their profit on the car? Ray did, he is THAT honest! He works by appointment only so make sure to call first! He often will come right to you. I was impressed how quickly and easily we completed the sale. There was NO pressure to buy either. If that car was not what I wanted he would find another that is perfect for his customer. I bought a car from autoright sales. I had email and voice correspondence. Flew in from out of state. When we arrived paperwork was not prepared, spent nearly 3 hours in his office (much of this time on the phone with his wife figuring out what forms to print). Then to top it off, the car had a faulty cam tensioner. This was "masked" by resetting the codes. Ray has a test drive route that is pre-planned and is short enough to not trip a code. When I left and drove less than 1 mile and restarted the car there was a check engine light. I checked the codes and it was for a cam tensioner issue. Checked readiness status, and they were all not-ready which means the codes were reset recently and this was the beginning of a drive cycle. This is shady in my opinion. Then when driving home (850 mile trip) I had an oil pressure warning light. Shut off the engine immediately and coasted down a ramp. Oil level is full. I continued to drive cautiously listening for an valve train noise. and the warning didn't reapppear for a few hundred more miles. Again checked the oil and it was full. Long story short, when I got the car home (thankfully made it) I had to replace the cam tensioner, pull the oil pan and replace the clogged pickup tube, and also replace the turbocharger due to oil starvation. To top it off when I informed Ray of these issues, he didn't apologize, he was concerned about the $150 he had shorted himself due to his paperwork not being correct (not my fault) I would have gladly paid the error if I hadn't been mislead and sold a car needing nearly what I paid for it in repairs.
