I just purchased a new (to me) vehicle from Carmax this week. I spent the last couple months doing…read moremy own research, then all of December in negotiations with Mike High Acura just to have the WORST experience and they sold the car from under me. The first car I bought was through Carmax and it lasted me 10 years with no problems and I was ready to go back to Carmax and upgrade to something a bit bigger, better in the snow and a more luxe driving experience. Munir helped me with my first couple test drives, made sure to ask me what I was looking for and for why so maybe he could bring some options to me. I had Munir then transfer a vehicle from a neighboring Carmax for a test drive (that I was 90% sure I was going to love and purchase). This transferred vehicle only took two days to ship in and be ready for a test drive. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue working with Munir since he was not scheduled that day and Chris Sioros took over the last half of my shopping experience. Chris was fantastic and super attentive to any questions I had and even helped me arrange a Lyft from work to Carmax so I could finish my purchase and leave in the car. I absolutely love my new car and the helpful experience that Munir and Chris gave me. I'd say that the only small downside to my experience was that, I had come back from the test drive and was approached by a completely new employee (sales or management, I'm not sure) and was a bit aggressively questioning which choice I would make, stressing that I should purchase now and that they wouldn't hold the vehicle for me (3-5 standard holding time) and that the bank took 3-5 days to process so I was urged to finance through Carmax and then come back with a check. I was trying to explain that I had already communicated with my bank and that the funds would be available and I would be bringing a check but it felt like I was just being pressured to purchase the car and finance it so I "wouldn't lose the car". The whole point of me shopping at carmax was to NOT be pressured by an aggressive salesman when I know exactly what I'm looking for and for what price is in my budget. This employee almost ruined a sale for the salesmen that were fantastic in helping me because even though I wanted a new car, I didn't need it and I certainly didn't need to feel pressured into it when I'm spending $40k. All that to say, you catch more flies with honey and I don't need to be approached by anymore employees unless they were working with me directly. Anyways, my pick up last night was very easy. I did most of my paperwork online, final walk through and a few more signatures when I got there and handing the check over and I got the keys! THANK YOU CHRIS AND MUNIR for getting me in my new car!

We have already traveled near and far with our new vehicle and got a follow up call from Mason, our customer service rep. And you would think for a dealership with a service dept on site they would diagnose and correct all of the problems before they sell the vehicles, but they don't. They either patch them up and hope you don't notice for two months or I have the worst luck in the world. The vehicle I bought myself ended up being in the shop for at least a month after I discovered it's issue. Thank God I found it a week before my warranty was up or I would have been on the hook for the $5,000 it cost to fix the problem. But it didn't come without a fight. It took the dealership two attempts to fix the vehicle. The first time they fixed the wrong thing, and when I told them I was still having the same issue they told me they weren't going to fix it. We eventually got on the same page and they took my vehicle for another two weeks and finally repaired it. For that I'm grateful. But now the vehicle I bought my grandmother had the check engine light come on. Mechanic comes out to give it a tune up and finds the spark plugs are covered in oil. Boom! It needs a new valve seals. My mechanic says "it looks like it's been this way for quite some time". I bought the car less than a year ago. Unfortunately the warranty has expired on this vehicle. So I'm on the hook for this one. I'm not saying don't buy a vehicle from this dealership. But I am telling you to take your car to a mechanic as soon as you drive it off of the lot to find any issues before your warranty expires. Because from my experience it doesn't seem to me like their service department has their customers best interests at heart.

I was told it covered cosmetic damage to the paint outside and all of the fabric inside. I verified this with the salesman 3 times. Well, I just submitted a claim for the leather on the dash coming up and a couple scratches on the outside, and it was denied. They're saying these aren't things that the warranty covers. I'm not that concerned about the scratches, but the dash needs to be fixed. I only bought the car two and a half months ago. What exactly is this warranty good for then? Sorry guys. This isn't cool.

One of the Worst Experiences My Family Has Ever Had at a Dealership -- AutoNation -5501 S Broadway,…read moreLittleton, CO 80121 My family had an absolutely unacceptable experience with AutoNation. My daughter scheduled a test-drive appointment on October 24 for October 25 at 11:30 AM, and the appointment was confirmed. We drove 1.5 hours to the dealership, arrived on time, test-drove the vehicle, and began the paperwork to purchase it. After nearly two hours in the buying process, another customer arrived and expressed interest in purchasing the same vehicle. Rather than honoring the appointment and the purchase process we had already started, the dealership's General Manager decided to sell the car to that customer instead. The explanation we were given was that the other customer had traveled a long distance to see the vehicle. We had driven 1.5 hours ourselves, yet that apparently did not matter. We later overheard a conversation indicating that the other customer had not even scheduled an appointment. Meanwhile, we spoke with four different AutoNation employees, all of whom gave us excuses for why the dealership would not complete the sale with us. None of those explanations adequately justified the decision. I even offered to pay for the vehicle in full upfront or finance it. It made no difference. We had shown up for our confirmed appointment, test-driven the car, and begun the purchasing process, yet we were pushed aside without a satisfactory explanation. This experience left our family feeling humiliated, disrespected, and discriminated against. Given the circumstances and the way we were treated, we strongly suspect that our Hispanic identity played a role in the dealership's decision. We cannot know the employees' motives with certainty, but the circumstances raised serious concerns about unequal treatment. When the General Manager finally informed us that the car would be sold to the other customer, he could offer no convincing justification beyond the fact that the other customer had traveled a long distance. He also did not appear to have any concern for the time we had invested, the distance we had traveled, or the fact that we were already in the process of purchasing the vehicle. I recorded the conversation. When I informed the General Manager, his response was that I could not record it. However, Colorado is generally a one-party consent state for recording conversations in which the recording party participates, subject to applicable legal exceptions. AutoNation, customers deserve fairness, transparency, and respect. A confirmed appointment and an active purchase process should not be disregarded without a legitimate explanation. No family should have to leave a dealership feeling that their appearance or ethnicity affected how they were treated. DO BETTER, AUTONATION! I expect corporate management to investigate this incident, review the employees' conduct and the decision made by the General Manager, and provide a meaningful explanation. Our time, our business, and our dignity deserved more respect than we received.

It's a no haggle car buying experience and we tend to like that better. The price we paid was reasonable, not dirt cheap but not high. The vehicle we purchased had extra-low miles and was in very good condition. The 3 stars given here are because of the positive nature of that part of our experience. Everything after the sale has been awful. There was one thing that needed to be repaired and they agreed to repair it as part of the sale but said they couldn't do it that day. Turns out they couldn't do for a month! Curious that their service department is that backed up. It was the hazard lights. The switch was either bad or disconnected and we were leaving the state on a road trip, so waiting a month wasn't an option. They decided to get a local Chevy dealership to do it because the vehicle still has full manufacturers warranty. That still had us waiting weeks and having to do it at a time that didn't really work for us. I picked up the phone and called the Chevy dealership a few blocks away from ClearShift and they were able to take us the next day. So we wound up dealing with that ourselves and are still not clear on why we could find next day service and they couldn't. Now it is 5 days until our dealer plate expires and we have not received anything to take to DMV to register and plate. Called the DMV; they have no record of a title application and told us to go back to the dealership, get a new dealer plate, and get a clear picture of why they haven't done this and when they plan to do it. Have called ClearShift more than once, before and after calling the DMV. Can't get a human in that department and nobody returns my calls. Tried texting; so far no response. I would have loved to give them 5 stars. The GM (or owner?) of the dealership was really nice to us, and very accommodating. We were impressed. The salesperson was nice and we didn't have any issues with her. We love the vehicle we purchased. They had good resources for financing. 5 stars was theirs to lose and they're busy losing it. It feels like now that they cannot make any more money off of us, we aren't important. Seems short-sighted. I still (cautiously) recommend them if the right vehicle is there for you. That's the only reason we went there--they had a hard to find truck we really wanted and it was exactly what we'd been seeking and were struggling to find. We truly love it and are not sorry we bought it. We are really frustrated with the very poor after purchase service.
