I was traveling to West Palm Beach, Florida and brought my Volvo into the dealership in Red Bank ,NJ for something covered under warranty and left with estimates for $1,300 worth of recommended things they found wrong with my car and should to do before my trip... I would "NEVER" do that there anyway and drove straight to Discount Brakes & Muffler and when they checked out my Volvo... all I needed to do at that time was put new windshield wiper blades on...Smooth sailing to Florida and back and months before any service on my Volvo was needed! (2) Last week I brought my leased Mazda CX5 into dealership in Redbank, and was told I needed front and rear brakes and tires... "ALL IN THEIR RED ZONE"...$1444.. plus other things they found... another $490 Monday I brought my Mazda to Discount Brake & Muffler and was told I still have "40%" left on my brakes.. and yes, I would need tires that I need to replace before the bad weather... which I intend to do and will do... I don't drive a foreign car so the fact that I had to pay for some special type of oil I didn't want and wasn't aware was highly unusual to me. There wasn't anyone else there and maybe their prices are keeping business away. They advertise auto & truck sales so maybe that's where the pricing comes in? He was consistent with communication and explained everything that was an issue with my car and what needed to be fixed; and not at a single point did I feel like I was being taken advantage of. The price was also much fairer, and substantially cheaper (over $150 cheaper) than Pep Boys for better parts (metallic tubing rather than rubber) and better service. This is the type of honesty and integrity auto repair businesses should strive for, because this is how you get regular clients and a growing business.
