We had a terrible experience with Auto Care Towing recently. We were told our vehicle was being towed to the( Aptos yard on Estates drive which we agreed to), but instead, (they took it to the Watsonville yard without our knowledge or consent). We were then charged $1,400 and had to pay out of pocket with two days of storage included in that price to get our vehicle back. Illegal and wrongful actions on the part of Auto Care Towing and we will be filing a complaint with California Department of Insurance. California Highway Patrol. The Better Business Bureau and all agencies possible to alert and prevent other local customers to beware of their wrongful, fraudulent misrepresentation of facts and business practices. I was forced to use Auto Care Towing after a one-car accident, and the experience was awful from start to finish. My vehicle was taken to their Watsonville/Royal Oaks yard, and dealing with both the office staff and the tow yard attendant was unnecessarily stressful and hostile. I paid $1,500 to retrieve my vehicle, yet once on site, the yard attendant refused to give me his name, acted aggressively, and attempted to prevent me from leaving with my car after it had already been fully paid for. He became confrontational, behaved in an intimidating manner, and even tried closing the gate while I was inside the yard. I felt genuinely unsafe during this interaction and simply wanted to back my car out while waiting for another tow, but I was still denied access. While dealing with this unprofessional behavior at the yard, I had to call their office again. I needed my car towed to a tire shop and literally had to call their office three times before anyone was finally dispatched. Each time I called, I was told it would "only take about 20 minutes," which was repeatedly not true. It wasn't until that third call, while the situation was actively escalating at the yard, that they finally seemed to take the situation seriously. Once we were finally on the road, the tow truck driver followed behind me. During the drive, I received a call from a random office staff member telling me that I should have paid for the tow before leaving the yard and that my car would not be delivered to the destination until payment was made. This was never communicated beforehand. I pulled over to the side of the road, spoke directly with the tow truck driver, and explained the call I had just received. I asked whether I should pay immediately or upon arrival. He confirmed that paying at the destination was fine and that this was customary. The conflicting information and unnecessary call added yet another layer of stress to an already chaotic experience. The entire interaction was recorded, and I will be sharing the footage with my large local social media following so others are aware of how customers are treated here. Accidents are stressful enough. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I strongly recommend avoiding Auto Care Towing if you have any other option! read more

Do NOT listen to Google maps if you're going to Zmudowski Beach. Do NOT go on Jensen Road, or your car will get stuck in the sand!!! And the gate is CLOSED on the other side, so you won't get to the beach that way anyway. I don't know how many times the car insurance was called, but as a passenger, this is what happened as I perceived: 5:00ish - called car insurance, said they have to call back. 6:30ish - car insurance called, they said they have to call back. 7:30ish - called car insurance, they said they'll call back. They mentioned they might not be able to get a tow truck to help us since we're in a prohibited area, and they don't want to be liable. (Or something like that. Again, I wasn't on the phone with them. I was a passenger so I didn't hear the exact words.) They also said they're or we're going to have to call the cops to open the gate. 8:30 ish - car insurance called back and said we have to call our own tow truck company, and then will be refunded. Why did it take four hours to say that?!?! Why did it take three or maybe four people from the insurance company to solve the problem?!? Well, they didn't really..... Locked myself out. Called my insurance and they sent Auto Care Towing and towed me home. I reached the destination before the insurance paid out. I paid them out of pocket to be done with it and then I got confirmation that my insurance paid them. Had to pick up my car from a tow, and they overcharged by adding an unlawful lien. Liens are not allowed to be applied until the vehicle has been in their storage and possession for 72+ hours. But try explaining that to them. They got dodgy and tried "explaining" the charge with nonsense about it having been three business days (not even that was true). Huge red flags, and their vibe was so shady. But the notice was clear and they gave into a reimbursement of the charge. My boyfriend and I have had many encounters with Auto Care Towing. The first was when the SCPD towed our trailers and the others were for road side service. This company is super down to earth and understanding. They have worked with us to help us keep our trailers and are always super friendly and professional!! It was an impossible job, a crazy idea most would say. Towing a 40 foot, 12,000 lb 5th wheel down a 150 foot drop with insanely tight corners? In less capable hands it would not have happened. Without the unwavering positive attitude of Ross, Jackson, and Matt it would've been far more stressful. With anything less than the triumphs of modern machinery in Auto Care's fleet I am 100% certain it would have been a disaster. But it wasn't. It was, in fact, the opposite. The guys were confident, patient, calm, and I cannot stress this enough: exceptionally professional. They were kind, incredibly friendly and did not let the (extreme!) difficulty of the job get to them, not even once. It honestly felt like I had my brothers helping me move. They took impeccable care with each and every maneuver, around every branch, rock, and obstacle in the way, and got my behemoth of an RV down an absurdly steep slope with ridiculous turns. On top of that, it was the end of a very long day for them, it was dark by the time we finished, and yet they kept their cool through the end and made completely certain we were happy with the job. My B series tractor was stuck pretty good in the mud. What I liked. They responded very quickly. Recommend unloading their recovery equipment off my driveway to not damage it. Pulled my equipment out damage free. Total time from arrival to finish was 25 minutes. They were friendly. What I didn't like so much. One of them washed their hands in my horses drinking water. I was charged for a full hour. I paid cash. I don't trust giving card numbers over the phone and asked for a receipt. I entered my email address on their smart phone and was told "you'll get a receipt in an hour." Days later, still nothing. They will politely come and get you out but, it will cost you. I'm local and called them to get a rough estimate, re their crane services, what it would cost to remove a spa/hot tub from my upstairs deck. They said the way they work is that someone comes out to see if they can do it (the spa obviously was delivered onto the deck and I said there was a parking lot right below it) and the cost for that would be $75! They might be terrific, but the one star is because I am not going to start paying for estimates when what I wanted was a rough idea of their pricing. They did not ask a single question about location of the spa or any particulars that would help them in giving even a ballpark.
