We just happened to find Texan Auto looking for a second opinion to purchase a used car. The Manager, Rush told us what to look for and to stand our grounds to the salesman tactics. He pretty much helped us negotiate the car deal and he just met us. My family have been loyal customers ever since. It's a relief to be able to take your car somewhere and know that they are honest and reliable. The whole staff, Sean, and the old school mechanic have been very friendly. They take time to explain to us about our cars. Once he was short on staff and I needed inspections that day, Rush called his competitor to make sure I got the inspections done that day. Oh, they love doggos. I waited outside with my dogs and Sean told us they are welcomed in the waiting room where everyone came and petted them! Do ever get a hug from your mechanic? Rush hugged us knowing that we are moving to the east coast. There are things that I will miss about Texas and the staff at Texan Auto is one of them.

First issue: I discovered the texture was very rough during the wash. I reached out to him. No response. I would have let the issue go since you can't tell the shoddy work unless you touch it, but there was a second issue. The parking assist sensors going off on the car. I took the car into my usual Lexus repair place who told me Barry painted over the parking assist sensors and I'd have to replace the bumper. I don't believe that is necessary, but regardless I notified Barry. Initially, he said use nail polish remover to remove paint. That did not work and frankly Barry should have offered to come resolve the issue. I notified Barry that the nail polish remover suggestion was a fail and that I hoped he did the right thing and resolve the issue. He admitted that he painted over the sensors but it's never been an issue before. I had to turn off the parking assist to stop the beeping. I sent him the pics he requested and he said he would come remove the paint. That was a month ago. I gave him several opportunities to step up. He didn't.

Their pricing is on the medium-to-high side for the area, though still cheaper than the dealer. I needed an oil leak repaired. There was an $80 inspection fee before repair, and it didn't count toward the total repair cost. I did appreciate how quickly they handled everything and that they offered a ride home. When I picked up my vehicle, I had some questions about my bill. I politely asked about the labor charges because I was confused by how high they seemed. It showed $80 in labor to fill the vehicle with oil, even though it was already in the shop and had been drained after the repair. While my service advisor was reviewing it, another advisor helping someone else made an unsolicited snarky remark: "We have to charge labor--what, you want us to fill it with your used oil?" I had no issue paying for new oil; the labor charge just didn't make sense to me. My advisor found that it had been entered in error and removed most of that labor charge. There was no apology. I'd like to think the mistake would have been caught even if I hadn't said anything. As for the quality of the repair, it's hard to say for now--everything seems fine, and time will tell. I also later learned the repair should have a two-year warranty, which was never mentioned. Overall, I left feeling upset and irritated by the experience.
