I am updating this review for the reason, they called me to discuss my review. They were very professional, after the conversation I had a much better understanding of what the inspection was going to provide verse what I thought it should provide. A traditional regular auto pre purchase inspection and a classic car inspection are different! Dual ownership in mis communication. I could have asked more questions and they could have inquired more on my needs and expectations. They did provide many pictures and information, but some items were simply missed. I do not recommend this company. On Yelp there are dozens of bad reviews. I have never seen such bad criticism over such a simple service... Their initial people who picked up the phone to schedule everything were pretty friendly. The local inspector they used was friendly as well. However there a a lot of open items which I wound up getting essentially getting reprimanded over. I specifically asked for a numbers matching inspection and their initial people researched and assured me that would NOT be a problem. I wanted chassis, engine as well as trans. I was told the inspector could do this and would call me once everything got arranged. I never got called the inspector inspected the car and I found out later that day the inspection occured. I called the auto appraisel company back and they told me most times inspectors don't inform the potential buyer about the inspection. They were friendly about it but it contradicts which I asked for and what they told me when I arranged/paid. I got the same agent. I let that go... I get the report and there is no mention of numbers matching. The inspector says he did not check for numbers matching. He called me to review it. I call the main company and they scheduled the final review with me. The owner of the inspection company calls me and this is where the fun really starts. I explained the fact I wanted the possibly meet the inspector to see the car as I didn;t see it yet (It was an hour away). The owner says to me maybe the inspector called and you didn't pick up. The inspector never called. If he did he never left a VM. I did get his post inspection call so I know he was able to get in touch with me. So now the owner and agent at the same company are not on the same page as I was told numbers matching could be done although the owner tells me on many cars there is not really such a thing as numbers matching then repeatedly kept asking me "what do you want", "what is your question"... "Do you want a refund"... over and over again. He must get asked for a refund a lot. The report contains no details about engine or trans identifieirs i mentioned to the owner. He then says the car is not worth what the buyer was asking which had no relevence as he doesnt know the agreed upon price. But he kept repeating its not worth the agreed upon price, not sure why. Essentially all I really wanted was for the inspector to obtain those numbers but we could never get that far as I kept getting attacked by the owner when then kept telling me I was not allowing his to speak. At least the inspection had enough details for me to make a decision but I will never know if the numbers are matching. I eventually threw in the towel as I felt we were getting nowhere. The owner is well versed in dealing with all of these calls as he instantly goes on the attack mind toying with you and you back down to prevent wasting more time. Be prepared to take your diminished value claim to court. The appraisal you receive will not have any supporting data, just a value. Insurance company will request how you have arrived at your claim amount, and you will not have information to back it up. Only answer you will get is that it's a certified appraisal derived through proprietary program. Honestly at this point I would have been money ahead to just throw out my own estimate of lost value. Very disappointed. Someone hit my car that was only a few years. I had heard of diminished value so I called them. They said I could get as much as $4K so I purchased the diminished value package for $400 (hoping that I recoup at least that much). An agent provided me with a report that I submitted to the insurance company (now I know that's all I bought for $400). Insurance company said it didn't support the claim that there is diminished value. I was going back and forth with the insurance company. Support from AAG was horrible. They didn't respond to my e-mails and when I called they gave me bs advice. Basically they are not able to provide anything you can use as leverage in these cases. Larry, thank you for your feedback. That even you, continue to conflate originality with 'judging and restoration' is, I believe, at the root of the problem. Originality (as verified by subject matter experts at NCRS) IS originality, that the vehicle happens to be clean and show pretty is immaterial. 95% of the components on that Corvette are original/and or correct dated to its build (right down to the original spare tire!) Nor has it ever been off the frame or undergone a professional "restoration." There is no substitute for research. From a business perspective, you need to take a hard look at your assessment process. What you (genuinely) consider "honest" might well be construed as uninformed. Increasing the Corvette's original assessed price value, as AAG did following one of our multiple exchanges, was never the point of the grievance. Documenting the originality and condition of the car was the objective of the operation. A no go at this station. read more

So I had an offer on the truck that was a fair offer but needed an appraisal. I used Auto Appraisal Group before so I called them again for the appraisal. The guy who came out was extremely professional and knew what to look for, ask and spent almost 2 hours going over the truck. I was feeling good after he left but that's where it ends. After the appraiser left I called them the following day and said I have a tentative sale pending and I needed this ASAP. The guy was pretty rude and told me if I wanted to pay another $200 they would rush it. It took them a week to get the report to me. When I looked at the report I saw they gave it an outstanding rating but then I saw what they valued it at and I was blown away. At this point, I took it upon myself to look at other sales from auctions and they valued my truck lower than than the other builds and while the other trucks were nice they just weren't to the same level as mine and they were older builds to boot. I typically try to keep a low profile but these guys are a bunch of clowns. I feel bad for the appraiser because he actually knew the industry extremely well. I would tell you to steer very clear of Auto Appraisal Group if you are in need of an appraisal for your car. read more

If you are looking to throw away $300+ for a unfair appraisal of your classic car this is your company! They inspected my 1970 Plymouth Duster and graded it low resulting in a very low value (I asked them to show me where I could buy a car in the same condition at the value they gave mine and they never responded). I contacted the man that did the actual inspection and he agreed that he might have graded it low in some instances. He actually said there was road debris on the undercarriage (this car is a driver). I brought the car home straight out of it's indoor storage facility. He said had it been washed, waxed and detailed it might have scored better. I said that doesn't seem fair, that is something you should tell the car owner before coming out. He said he would call the company and raise some of the grades. Weeks later they never followed back up. I called today and was told sorry, after a detailed review of the facts that they would not budge. I asked for comp sales for cars rated like mine, that's when I was told they don't use comps. I was told they pull the info from Hagerty classic car values based on the score they gave the car. I said that doesn't help me for my insurance company in the event that something happens to the car. I was told we don't give replacement value, only what we believe the car is worth today...WHAT?? How can this company attach a value of a car without even pricing comp sales or what like cars are selling for. Wouldn't it make sense that the actual market prices should determine the value (or at least go into the equation?) This was a big waste of time. Terrible company with no cohesiveness in their ability to grade or inspect a vehicle. This company cost me the sale of my truck (nearly $100k) due to conflicting stories and not using first hand knowledge to provide a report. The gentleman interested in purchasing my truck hired them to do an inspection since he was located outside of the US. The inspector that came to evaluate the truck was great. Very professional and obviously very knowledgeable and had been in the industry over 40 years. The inspector spent nearly two hours going over the truck and documentation and had nothing but good things to say. This included absolutely loving the paint on the truck as it was nearly flawless. He raved about the mechanical condition and the high end components I used in the build. Apparently all of the information he took as well as all of the pictures were sent to someone sitting behind a desk for the offixial report. This person is the one that looked at pictures from what appeared to be a low end Coolpix type camera and wrote his recommendation to provide to the buyer. His report was absolutely scathing of my truck. He ripped apart, of all things, the paint. This is one of the highlights the inspector gave. He said there was rust on the gas tank. I took high definition video with bright lighting to show the buyer the company was lying. Again, basing a report off of pictures after the fact instead of taking their own inspectors word who actually saw the trucknin bright sunlight. Nearly everything the inspector said, this "evaluator" gave the opposite opinion. This was enough to make the buyer leary even though he now sees they are a scam. I even showed the buyer the research I did on this company and found many sites with negative reviews and complaints including the BBB. The buyer even called the actual inspector and got the same positive response I received which was even more confusing and concerning to the buyer. He was so frustrated he wants his money back. This company is a scam. If you want a true report from someone with experience and actually see your vehicle, this isn't the place. They will send the right person to do the evaluation then completely disregard what the inspector saw in person and make up a report based on apparently crappy pictures. RESPONSE: The person of interest changed their mind due to the inconsistencies your company provided in the report. How can tha actual Inspector provide an incredibly positive review after actually seeing the vehicle in person and inspecing every inch if it, then you provide a completely opposite report based on pictures? He wasn't confident in your reporting and I don't blame him. Let your inspectors provide evaluations since they actually see the vehicle. read more

I think you can do better elsewhere. I had a motorcycle appraised, a custom job built way back when by a pretty famous guy from the heyday of choppers. I was donating it to a museum, so it's not like I'm butthurt over the value because it affects my wallet -- they could have put the value at zero and I wouldn't really have cared. The most surprising thing about this interaction was that at no point until I was paid up did anyone clue me into the fact that the person looking at your item IS NOT APPRAISING IT. They'll try and give you a song and dance about how this keeps bias out of it, which is bunk: it just allows the company to claim they are a national company. I can see no real benefit to this except lining the company's pockets. Warning flag #1. The self-described "independent agent" sends me an email after I called these folks, and he asked a bunch of questions about the manufacturer, and some pretty basic motorcycle info. Warning flag #2. Guy texts me the night before, and tells me the time he's gonna get to the bike, which his company charged me extra for (as opposed to me bringing the machine to him.) Whatever, well worth it. It was freezing out. I see he lives pretty close, ask him when he wants to come, he choose 9A. I make sure I'm available at that time. Guy texts me at 8:29A that he's not going to make it until 9:20. Warning flag #3. We talk, and I find out that this guy is not appraising this bike. It's clear he has no idea what the hell he's looking at. Guy has ridden one motorcycle, a little entry-level bike. I got no beef with that, but I'm concerned at this point at his ability to evaluate this machine. I show him stacks of historical paperwork and documentation that are being donated with this bike, loads of trinkets and info from the builder's related business, etc. He's placing a lot of emphasis on the condition (very nice survivor), but he's real hung up on that. I had mentioned several times that the value of the bike isn't really in the condition of the motorcycle, but the history of it... that's the only reason a museum wants it in the first place. Otherwise, it's just an old motorcycle. He snaps some pics with his phone and writes some stuff down. Agent then leaves, but before he does, he hits me for additional toll money on their bill. (They already charged me $50, knowing full well where I live.) Warning flag #4. I get a report from these guys later with what I feel is a questionable condition analysis. But whatever, I don't really care what the value is, but had I, I would have taken major issue with their assessment. "Market Personality" score? Are you kidding? "Equipment" scored 3/5. The bike was literally still equipped with every single item on it functioning that it was built with, and as it's a one-off, it wasn't like there was an options package or anything. "Lights" was a 3 out of 5, too. The bike was produced with two lights. Both are still on the bike, functional, and have no appreciable wear. I'm at a total loss. I got a summary 7 days later entitled, "2004 Toyota Camry." There were no comps provided. There's some information in the summary basically repeating some facts gleaned from an online article (that I directed them to!). That story also was missing one critical fact that I communicated to them verbally, and the agent did not pick up on, and that's omitted from the final report. Repeat: NO COMPS. Not one. Zero. Warning flag #3. Here's the funny part. The guy who designed and built the bike is alive and well. I know him. We're friendly. No one from AAG even bothered to get in touch with him. Warning flag #4. A simple phone call sure would be easy to make, wouldn't it? When I indicated that I was surprised at their evaluation, they offered a conference call with the president of the company, which I declined; I don't care what the value is, because I just need something to turn in with the 8283 IRS form. Someone from the company then called me to ask what I was dissatisfied, and when I brought a few things up, they explained that I'd have to talk to the president of the company. I reminded them that I already told them I didn't have time to do that once. Warning flag #5. (This may have been because I indicated that they'd be receiving this review, which they earned.) So long story short, I paid hundreds of dollars to get a little form for the IRS that I needed. In that respect, they were somewhat useful, if you don't care what number goes on the form. As far as having a clue what they're doing when trying to put a value on something? Hell, just put the item up for sale on Craigslist, and when some clueless mouth-breather swings by and lowballs you, you've just gotten effectively the AAG treatment. I can't speak to car valuation, but they're lost when it comes to antique motorcycles. For that stuff, get an AACA/AMCA member(s) to swing by. Your local chapter will help you, probably for free, and probably more accurately. read more

This company basically feels like a scam. I was shopping for a classic car and of course needed a pre purchase inspection. AAG charges you for an inspection but won't give you a documented appraisal of the cars value unless you pay an extra 75 dollars. Want to make sure the car has matching numbers ? That's another 100 dollars. The guy I dealt with on the phone was downright nasty and rude to me as if I was taking up his precious time by trying to give him my business. I thought maybe he was having an off day but when I called again the next day he was just as nasty as before. I asked around in the classic car community and the universal opinion was that these guys ALWAYS give a negative appraisal of the car they inspect and try to convince you not to buy it so that you have to keep looking and pay them for other inspections . I decided to go with a different company So update: someone named Larry B commented on my review trying to basically say my review wasn't accurate .. I understand, it's his business he's going to say nice things about it but... note he did not deny the additional fees I noted , he also can't say truthfully that I did not have a poor experience from the rep I talked to, the guy was rude both times and that's that .. was it my experience and yours may differ? Sure, but.... maybe not. Instead of trashing me Lar, perhaps consider customer service training for your folks ? I sell classic cars and have dealt with numerous appraisers and even refer some to customers with no issues. This group came to my home to appraise a Restored 57 Chevy BelAir, for a customer, and the appraiser was very nice. I bent over backwards for him and even let him use my lift to do a thorough inspection. 2 weeks passed and no word from the customer, so I gave him a call. He was very irritated because this appraisal group, whos fee is $300, ended up charging him $550. The customer was so mad he wouldnt even discuss the appraisal with me and ultimately lost me the customer. I call AAG and asked for the number that the appraisal came in at and they refused it and said if I wanted they could send out another appraiser and charge me. I will never refer another customer to AAG nor will I ever allow a customer to have AAG to inspect my cars, even if loses me a sale. I supplied them a customer, let them use my lift and shop to do the inspection, they overcharged him, lost me a customer and wont even tell me what the appraisal came in at on my own car. The experience with this company went from bad to worse. I was looking to refinance my car so I went to the bank and they said I needed a current appraisal even though I just had one 8 months prior. That appraisal was ($75,000). Anyway I said OK and scheduled an appointment with AAG to come to my house and look at my car. The inspector showed up at my house and went over the car. He did not look under the car or take it for a test drive just told me it was OK he knows the car runs great? I was like OK whatever I guess, rather he didn't drive it anyway. I waited two weeks to get the appraisal back and when I did I couldn't believe it. I didn't think it was for my car? Start with the test drive. He didn't do one and gave it a 3 out of 5? The car has brand new tires on it with under 200 miles on them, 3 out of 5, Lights all work with no marks on the lenses, 3 out of 5, Options it has the Z28 package and not missing any options as far as I know, 3 out of 5 the list goes on.....Of course there was no explanation given for any of the average or poor ratings. The car appraised at $55,000??? I called the main office to complain and they told me I would have to make an appointment to talk to the gentleman that priced out the appraisal. That appointment was set for a week and a half out at 7:00 am which was the first available. I marked my calendar and waited to talk to someone about the appraisal. So Larry calls me at 10 minutes to 7:00 today and asks me to call him back which I do at 5 min to 7:00 only to be told he has moved on to other appointments and I would have to reschedule. I told the reception guy that it wasn't even 7:00 yet and he said that was too bad the next available time would be next week???? what a joke!!! At this point it is useless chasing down some Guy that is putting a dollar value on a half ass inspection. I must say my overall experience with this company has been awful. read more

I owned a 2014 Honda Civic EX-L and it was loaded with options. When my insurance told me the value of the car following getting hit I hired AAG for an independent appraisal. The report that followed was very disappointing. The rating of the car is on a scale from 1-5 with 5 being excellent. My car was rated all 3's. My car was in pristine condition and the owner of the company defended the ratings. They even rated the spare tire as a 3 yet it had never seen the light of day. The owner used an instrument to gauge the thickness of the paint and told me it was at 2 - 3 mils thick. Now given that the car is only 6 years old and if it came from the factory with 5-7 mil thick paint I can conclude that I only have 3-5 years left until the paint is completely gone and down to the primer. The owner told me he's been doing this for 45 years and is an expert. Well, I've been a Washingtonian for 50 years and a car buff for 40 of those years. I have yet to see cars driving around with just primer. I also took excellent care of the car and to rate it at 3's is a rater who just went out and didn't do their job. In conclusion, I would not recommend AAG to anyone. Very poor quality of service. I'm very disappointed and feel patronized in the whole situation. read more

If I could give a no star to AAG, that is what Dustin Ham, Customer Service deserves. I had my limited edition (1 of 1000) VW 1972 Baja Champion SE inaccurately appraised by an over 73y/o field agent that to begin with - knew nothing about the wolf/castle logo - Not recognizing this logo - he claimed it wasn't original to the car and that I took the stickshift knob off of another vehicle. He claimed he went online and took pictures and info on what a Baja VW should have and mine didn't have the Baja outside stripe! Everything is original on this car except for the rubber replaced tires and hoses - the field agent claimed the bumper was replaced and the bumper guards remounted (wrong). There are so many other inaccuracies on this appraisal that I called AAG and was told Dustin Ham would call me to discuss what I am disputing. When Dustin Ham called - his first words were - "I take offense to your email regarding my appraisal value", already his professionalism was out the door and he was in a bad mood. He compared my car by an email he sent me to another car online selling at $6,000 - Hemmings Find of The Day! - . The pictures the field agent took were out of focus and amatuer. The field agent place his wooden clipboard/metal clips on the roof of my care showing carlessness and disrespect of my car and unprofessionalism. When I mentioned this to Dustin Ham he could of cared less. He said "ok, I hear you"...like so what? Dustin himself did not show professionalism from the beginning of his phone call, which in turn spiked my flare and he stated "I'm not going to change my appraisal value and this conversation is ending right now!"....he then hung up when I told him I was going to give him a bad review online and his company also, that he can keep his 5 and dime appraisal, I'm sorry I wasted my money on it...they can't compare my VW Baja to a basic VW or one selling online for $6,000 - there is NO comparison. Only one small rust spot by the widowwasher fluid spout area. No tears in original headliner, interior outstanding, original rims/caps, running board, I could go on and on. Replaced rubber tires - and a headlight, put in a cigarette lighter to charge my phone. When people who know VW's look at this car, they say it is on the low end of the appraisal of $16,000 - he based his review sight unseen on an over 73 year/old field agents blurred amateur pictures. Just basically...stay away from Auto Appraisal Group. They brag about themselves but could care less about finding a resolution or correcting inaccuracies on their appraisal...even if they would have left the dollar value as is, but change the inaccuracies - I would have been satisfied. He wasn't willing to do that and said "I stand behind my appraisal and that's that". Don't waste your money...go with another company. read more

AAG helped me significantly. They assisted me in a diminished value report on a 2016 Range Rover. Their fee brought me 4400.00 more value than the insurance company wanted to offer. Their appraisals are tough and critical. I would have thought in many areas my car would rate 5 out of 5 for many areas and it only rated 3 or 4. I think about how picky i am and realize that is how thorough they are. I will now even consider them for purchasing vehicles and they will be appraising a couple of collector motorcycles I own.. I can see where their appraisals could upset some, but they are so accomplished and detailed they take the emotion out of car values.. read more

Buying a classic car can be an arduous process and when these cars are scattered across the Unites States, can be expensive to visit them. AAG has expert inspectors of which Matt in Louisville and Jim in L.A. Are friendly and knowledgeable. They gave a detailed report on the cars I hired them to inspect, and after each inspection, the President, Larry called to discuss the condition of the cars, positives and negatives so that I was extremely informed. This has helped me greatly to avoid wasting time and unnecessary travel. Just make sure you communicate Exactly What you are looking for in a Pre-purchase inspection with the inspector before the actual inspection and of course make sure you visit the car prior to purchasing. read more

I had a classic car for sale under verbal and written contract. The buyer was 1 state away, and made several trips to look at the vehicle. The vehicle came out of a museum. The buyer hired AAG to inspect the car. AAG told the buyer that the car was a piece of crap, and that it would break in half it had so much rust. When questioned about the appraisal report, the owner of the company was a belligerent, foul mouthed bully. I would never recommend this company. It cost me the sale of the most desirable model and color of the car I was selling. The car had surface rust in and unused battery compartment from when it had 2 6 volt batteries instead of the current 12 volt. Who the hell is this guy and why would anyone do business with him. AAG did the inspection and assessment very professionally and in a timely fashion. They provided me with a detailed inspection summary. Tom, the inspector, was very informative and responded quickly to my inquiries. His report was thorough and he submitted a complete set of photos along with his written summary. Larry went over the inspection report on the phone and gave his unbiased opinion of the vehicle. He brought up several factors to consider when buying an older car. Bad experience. 30 min late, acted like not a big deal. Brushed it off no apology. Fine, had them appraise a classic car. Spoke short and like it was an inconvenience for him. Fine. Feedback and written report made no sense whatsoever. Rating 1-5, 5 being excellent, 1 poor. Multiple 2s on new or replaced items. Doesn't make sense. Originality-2 but all original. Wrapped car? Maybe deduction. Fine. Uphostery and interior. 2..ducmented and new. Panels-2 again replaced and new. Car ran great! Fired up and single digit temps. Even after record lows. Only a 3? Nothing above 3. When appraiser asked for documentation he didn't seem to know what stuff was. Or what he was looking at. Overall disappointing experience. Number was low end aswell. One of the most unprofessional services I have ever in my life experienced. These guys need to be shut down, unprofessional in every way imaginable. I paid this company to perform an appraisal on my rare antique truck. When I received the appraisal, it was not even my truck! These guys couldn't even find the vin number on my truck. Had a poor experience. Firstly they couldn't provide me with a blank copy of the report so I could see what sort of data they were going to report on - so I really went in blind. They were responsive once I agreed and paid and the booking a inspection was done quickly - these are minimums that I would expect. The inspector called me and we discussed what I wanted to see - this was for a classic car and I had concerns about the typical issues - rust, originality, legality. The report was several pages, but was poorly hand-written and not professionally presented in my view, but described the car as in good, reasonably tidy but used condition for an older resto. I spoke to the inspector afterwards and he gave me his opinion and I thought it was comprehensive and fair. I bought the car. The car arrived and had significant issues - rust holes in the floor the size of my hand, white plastic gummed over some holes in the trunk floor and easily visible from kneeling down and looking underneath. Holes and leaks in the exhaust. The wheel housings were not connected to the guards as they has rusted away - so clearly and easily checked but not reported on. The rear axle was shot, it groaned and vibrated and had leaked oil all over the inside of the rear tyres. There were wet areas of oil leaks all over the power steering components from fluid leaks, the P/S ram boot was in tatters and the chrome shaft stood out a mile, there was wiring hanging down under the dash and spade connectors plugged into the fuse box to run new accessories and they were clearly visible. In summary, I wouldn't have purchased this vehicle if I had known of these issues and that's what I had paid for. Other than being friendly, I cannot recommend their service. Finally - the rear axle had to be rebuilt, the exhaust had to be replaced and the rust in the floors and wheel arches has to be repaired and repainted. Expensive items. read more

It is unfortunately that the response from Larry B. came out like that. I really did not expect anything different after reading other reviews. Never the less; let's get some facts straight: - I set up an appointment for the 15th; Larry B called a week earlier and left a message. This was the only message and time he called. He definitely did not call at the appointment. Please do not accuse me of not keeping appointments. - I did not mention anything about the estimated vehicle value to your staff or in my above complaint. My complaint goes directly into value for my money! I consider this whole experience as already way too much money and time spend, lesson learned for the next time, and hopefully others prevented from making the same mistake as I. These guys are worthless, they are unprofessional in every way. I called them and told them about my car, and they said they are very familiar with it and they do million dollar cars. Well they might do million dollar cars, but they don't know jack. I strongly suggest you think about using someone else. Also, the certification they claim to have has no governing agency oversight. So, anyone can get one. They claim they have all these years of experience. They sent a guy out to look at my exotic car, that literally said "I have never seen one of these" What kind of expert is that. HORRIBLE! read more

Thorough inspection by someone with no experience with the vehicle being inspected. After consulting another experienced technician locally we discovered the inspector had missed a major mechanical issue that could be plainly seen from the pictures taken. Inspector was nice enough...he just didn't know what he was looking at. For $300+ this was NOT worth the money. Someone crashed into my brand new car (only 12k miles on it), no structural damage. I decided to file for devaluation and get an assessment to give my claim the best chance. Upon visiting their office, they explain they must measure the paint thickness, take pics etc. 1hr later they 'prove' what I told them, consistently with the shop records which I procured (repairs, damage cost etc). Days pass and no report. I email them: 'the master appraiser' (the owner) likes to take his sweet time to produce it, requiring 7 business days. When I get the report, I see the 'before accident' value is a bit lower than NADA guides for this particular car, model with options. 'After' value is the same range as what they gave me on the phone before the inspection ($275, demanded upfront btw). In the report there's a list of criteria supposedly documenting the condition of the specific vehicle. Exterior: body, tires, lights, paint, wheels, undercarriage, glass, trim/chrome, top Interior: upholstery, panels, dash/instruments, trunk/cargo, carpet/mats, spare/jack Mechanical: engine, equipment, test ride General: options, originality, market personality Their condition code is 5-excellent, 4-very good, 3-good, 2-fair, 1-poor, 0-no rating Now, get this. I'm anal about this car. It's been garaged both at home and at work. I park it in distant locations to avoid dings. I wrap it in a sealed envelope when I travel. It just did its second ever service, at the dealer. Not a scratch or ding, or glass flaw, or undercarriage issue, chrome fade, interior problem; car super, super clean and meticulously maintained. Electronic bells & whistles, engine in tip top condition. They gave an understandable 3 for body and paint (since it has undergone repairs, now long fixed). But also less then excellent ratings for things not affected by the accident, like glass, lights, wheels, undercarriage, trunk, jack/spare, equipment, options (3), trim/chrome, top, carpet, panels, dash, upholstery, engine (4). When I called to ask why they reported flaws/or even ordinary tear and wear in these areas they said, laughably, that 'the car had endured molecular damage in this areas due to the accident' and that their appraisal was 'conservative' to 'help me negotiate with the insurance company'. The big boss, upon a phone conversation, admitted that he entered data from average market condition, rather than the specifics of my vehicle. Then he proceeded to bs me about how the lowballing was good for my negotiation. So if you think you are paying for an actual service, THINK AGAIN. 1. All the data logging, photo theatrics, pointless: they give you stuff you could have already gotten for free by looking at KBB and NADA. 2. They drag the 'writing process' out to give a false impression they actually provide value. Having visited that office in person I can tell you time stops STILL in there. They're not in a rush one bit. 3. They couldn't care less if you have what you need to negotiate successfully. In what parallel universe is a conservative appraisal a good negotiation starting point? It makes me wonder if they're not in cahoots with insurance companies. If you knew you can work for big companies regularly, and some people like me come and go, whose interests would you care for? They gave my vehicle an overall rating of 'Sound', which in NAAA terms is a vehicle with normal tear and wear (scale 3, instead of a 4, after the accident, which would be much more appropriate). https://www.naaa.com/standards/vehicle_gradingscale.pdf To conclude: SAVE your money. I would absolutely not recommend them because they failed to do what they advertised: a report specifically tailored to the condition of my vehicle and because of their overall unprofessionalism. Incidentally, I gave them a chance to address the issue before I shared experiences and they couldn't give a damn. Apparently they've heard it all before and refused to fix the issue. I wish I could have seen the other reviews that state similar problems. What they did about those? DENIAL, DENIAL, DENIAL, blame/discredit the customer, doctor the reviews.
