The family here is very nice, but the work done on my vehicle was Not done properly. I brought my vehicle in to fix a valve cover leak and some other items. The job wasn't done properly at all. The leak continued after a small amount of driving. I hired another mechanic and the two of us decided to investigate and fix the leak. We took the cover off only to discover that there was no Gasket!! This is why it was leaking. I payed all of the money for the hourly rate only to have the problem not fixed. They had my vehicle for over a month, when I picked it up I opened the door only to discover there were parts left on the drivers seat. The parts were missing some bolts and nuts. I had to return to the shop and have one of the employees help me find the missing pieces. I put things back together myself, but what a blunder on their end. They installed a new Fuel Sending Unit as well, but that started to Leak and I had to properly replace and Install another Gasket. One last thing, someone at the shop was taking my vehicle out and about. I know this because when I left it there the first time my vehicle had a full tank. When I picked it up a quarter of a tank was missing. I thought maybe I was imagining it. So I filled it up a second time when I brought it back to them. Sure enough when I picked it up, it was down about a quarter of a tank. My tank holds a lot of fuel so it wasn't just them test driving it. This happed Twice. Businesses like this one have way too many vehicles in their shop. This is why these things happen, they are not able to do jobs properly because they are under pressure and doing too much. Start saying No we are too busy and don't be greedy! Pass on this shop and find yourself a Better automotive shop. I think the family is full of nice people, but the work is Unprofessional. read more

My neighbor asked me if I could help him figure out what was going on with his International box truck (he isn't very mechanically inclined), so I came over and took a look, and it seemed that the clutch wasn't fully engaging. Now I'm not a professional diesel mechanic, but I do know that something wasn't right and that either his clutch was fried, or it needed an adjustment. So I jumped on Yelp and searched "diesel mechanic" and bam, first one, 5 star was Auto & Diesel Services right down the street. I called them and told them what the truck was doing, they said "bring it on in, we'll take a look at it, no charge".... NO CHARGE?!?! You don't hear that too often, so I told my buddy to get down there and take them up on this. He left and came back maybe an hour later and said "Dude, you're the man! They found that it was just the clutch adjustment, and they did it FREE OF CHARGE!!!" This is how you do business guys, way to go! Not only did you take care of my buddy's truck, but you gained a customer, and 3 people who will refer your business your way. There needs to be more businesses that follow this service model, because there are too many dishonest and shady mechanics out there who could have easily said "Yea, it looks like it's your muffler bearings are causing your clutch fluid to boil, we'll need to upgrade the flux capacitor before it flustergates through your bell housing" - ok, that was a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea, these guys are super honest and good people. Been coming here for years however this time was a nightmare, they took apart the steering box and put a new one in guessing this would fix the problem well that part took almost 2 days to complete that, they also change the power steering box had a very bad steering problem, well that didn't fix it because that wasn't the issue show they decided it was better if she wanted me to spend another thousand dollars steering column the shop you need to be rebuilt and I was your only problem with it it's been another day taking the entire box off put the old parts all that again if you want to quality service don't go to this place. I give them my highest recommendation. I took my Ford E-450 El Dorado bus first to Villa Ford, who tried to charge me over $2000 with tax on an AC compressor repair. I was shocked as my brain tried to understand why there might be such a huge price difference. Eventually I caught the Ford Villa guys red handed in their misleading statements and massive price inflation and went to Auto Diesel instead. Upon arrival, Fernando declared the Ford Villa diagnosis was incorrect. I paraphrase: "The AC Compressor doesn't need replacing and the system doesn't need to be flushed like Villa Ford said. The compressor is fine. Instead of the $1100 repair I originally quoted you, we just need to replace the AC Compressor hub assembly, pully and clutch, which should cost around $400...let me show you". Fernando took me to the back of the shop and showed me exactly how the compressor, hub, pully and clutch all interact, as if I were his student. He said he had no need to do an unnecessary repair. He was busy and never needed to do advertising. Treating his customers honestly and fairly with the highest level of service was how he advertised. Now I see why!! By 6pm, only 3 hours later, the job was done, the Air Conditioning worked great, I had a deeper knowledge of my bus, and I was on my way back to SF. All for $400. Incredible!! Again, I give Auto Diesel Service Co. my highest rating. Go there for excellent outstanding service. I live in San Francisco, but wish I could keep taking my bus to Fernando and his team. Two years ago Villa Ford charged us $1700 for a repair on my husbands F350 Diesel that did not fix the problem then 3 weeks later quoted us over $2500 for the "new" problem. That is when I found Fernando here on Yelp. (somehow some bolts were loose on the high pressure oil pump, thanks Villa Ford) He fixed the truck and would not take a penny. He said "it was no big deal" but it was a big deal he saved me a lot of money and has earned my business ever since. Several months later, it was raining, I was close to his shop when my Expedition started acting strange. Having owned many, many questionable vehicles and dealt with an even greater number of "mechanics" who "know everything" I can honestly say that I haven't ever met anyone who knows as much about vehicles and service as Fernando, Alex, and the rest of the excellent crew at Auto & Diesel. I have brought in all kinds of issues (see that part about about "questionable" cars...), and Fernando has accurately diagnosed, competently repaired, and fairly quoted me to fix every single problem. I have never once had a repair fail or had to take my car back because of some issue the mechanic did (or didn't) do. His shop is exceedingly busy (word of mouth brings in more and more customers every day), but he can make time for your vehicle almost any time you call. These guys excel at providing excellent service and expert repairs. They stand behind their work as well. I have brought him virtually every mechanical issue you can think of - problems that other mechanics couldn't even diagnose - except for bringing in a car on fire. Given my proclivity for finding rolling tetanus shots on wheels, it's only a matter of time before that happens. I don't live anywhere near the business, but I WILL drive (or, in some cases, tow) my vehicle past every other mechanic shop or dealership to get my smoldering heap to Auto & Diesel EVERY. SINGLE. Fernando is awesome. He looked at my truck and figured out that a sensor went bad that normally doesn't go out when they did the EGR cooler so they don't replace it to save me money. It ended up going bad so he showed me where it is explained everything to me and didn't charge me labor to go back and replace the sensor. Even if you don't need anything fixed it's still worth it to visit Fernando. Bottom line - an honest and competent repair shop that can tackle all the major systems, including A/C. Did a complete overhaul of my '89 Ford van based RV AC, checked-out everything under the hood, repaired issues with brakes, kingpin, various leaks, tuned it up, etc. Increased my mpg by 1.5 mpg. Air blows cold. Even attached a deadbolt strike plate to my decrepit door frame for me (no charge.) Wasn't cheap, but a lot less than I would have paid at the dealer and the OC Ford dealers have terrible service reputations. Done right, the first time, and for less than what was quoted, despite discovering half my compressor was missing and some other crazy stuff with the other parts. As another Diesel owner, ( Ford E350 7.3L IDI / E4OD ), I wanted to put my two cents worth in as to my experience with Fernando. Fernando and his team of super diesel techs have been a "lifesaver" for me and my diesel van. The only thing I wish Fernando had more of is space to work. He's got people coming in from all over the state - which I discovered when I brought my van over for him to bring up to snuff after a craigslist purchase. Somehow, he works everyone in. For me, I am retired and my van was not top priority, and had a lot of persnickety little things to address - so my servicing was stretched over two months or so... I got to see a lot of things and meet a lot of his other customers. Turns out Fernando has a very loyal clientele which do whatever it takes to bring their vehicles here ... from the diesel work trucks to the big haulers. Fernando does have a lot down the street he uses as a staging area, so if you drop by and find his place so packed you can't find a place to park, you may have to park around the corner ( I did and noticed a lot of others did too ). I have not seen him have to turn anyone away yet, but I have seen him and his guys working through the night sometimes to get everyone taken care of. ( I live about five blocks from his shop ). This is the guy you want to see especially if you have one of the older diesels and you need someone who knows exactly how these things work, not just what one is taught at a single-make trade school. Wants it done right. And can't afford to monkey around. And, if truth be known, this is my first Yelp review. After all the extra effort Fernando did to help me with my van, I felt moved to share my experience with the rest of the Yelp community. These are are more than honest and trustworthy. THEY ARGUABLY KNOW THERE STUFF BETTER THAN ANYONE IS SOCAL. I have a very custom 2003 F350 6.0L, with an oil leak and exhaust leak after a complete bare-block engine rebuild from Swamps in TN. Fernando & Jr worked to get my beast of a truck running like it should have from the beginning of the rebuild completion. Fixed the custom exhaust manifold leak and had new oil lines sent out from Bulletproof in AZ. Within 2 weeks the truck was running better than it ever has. Rarely have I been through such a stressful time with my Excursion and the inability of past mechanics to resolve my Service Engine Soon light constantly being on. It mattered because I needed to get my Ex smogged in California and it is an automatic fail if the SES light is on. We had done everything we could to resolve it to no avail. My starter was acting up and would spin but not engage. I found the bolts had come loose on the starter. I was able to hand tighten the bolts and get it working. Took it to Fernando's and in 110 degree heat and they were so busy they had to move two trucks for me to get in there shop. They fixed it in 15 minutes and did not charge me a dime.
