She did a great job focusing on the features I like (eyes, lips), and enhancing my big cheeks and nose. Before my wedding I had my makeup done by another professional makeup artist and someone at Bobbi Brown...Avery's makeup was much better. After I got my trial run the day of my rehearsal dinner, my fiancee kept complimenting me on how great I looked. Little did he know I was sporting expertly-applied fake eyelashes! On my big day, Avery arrived 15 minutes early. She handled my family gracefully, and was so friendly and efficient. She also worked really well with my hair stylist (recommended by AWM). I had such an amazing experience with Shannon of Austin Wedding Makeup! I had never gotten my makeup professionally done before, and really had no idea how to instruct her for the look I was going for, but after a little chatting about the location and aesthetic of the wedding, Shannon nailed it! I did a trial run a couple weeks before the wedding, and deliberately wore the makeup from about 2pm to 2am, and it still looked great at the end of the night! Shannon also came to our hotel room on the day of the wedding and did makeup for my mom and three of my bridesmaids, each who were able to keep their beautiful individuality in the looks and each looked absolutely gorgeous. I worked with Avery Allen (our experienced & talented makeup artist) and Lisa Jauregui (arrange things & payment) at AWM and could not be happier with the result. I did a trial run a month before the wedding, and then had my makeup done for the rehearsal dinner & wedding day. Avery is amazing! I don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis but I wanted a flawless bridal look for the Big Day. Avery worked with me and tweaked it along the way to make me look perfect. She is again, simply amazing. That doesn't even touch her personality! She is so sweet and fun to be with. You are spending time with her on your wedding day and I loved having her there (she did all my bridesmaids' makeup too and my mother in law, 2 of the bridesmaids didn't want makeup until the day of and she squeezed them in for us!) Also we changed locations of our makeup application just a week before and Avery & Lisa were so flexible about it. Avery always showed up 15 minutes early too, which I liked. I cannot recommend her enough and will definitely be using her for any special events in the future that I want to look extra special for. The main thing I was impressed with was my eyes - I never had worn fake eyelashes and she made them look so natural. I have blonde hair & blue eyes and she made my eyes pop so well, it was dramatic without being 'heavy' or 'too much makeup'. I also had the airbrush service added and the Sunday after my Saturday night wedding we flew to Turks & Caicos...we only got a few hours of sleep and my makeup lasted literally 2 days! That shows how good it works! (plus my wedding was in 85 degree Texas heat and I didn't get oily or shiny). If you are looking for your wedding makeup to be done, look no further - Avery is IT. I searched and searched for a make-up artist, and after a not so great trial with someone else, I was lucky enough to find Lisa Jauregui ! I cannot explain how happy I am! I have only had my trial thus far but it was fabulous. Wedding makeup is one aspect that I can cross of my list and rest assured that it will be perfect! The day of my trial, my skin looked awful -- probably one of the worse break-outs I have had in adulthood. I was nervous that I would not like any make-up application because I was so upset with the way my skin looked but I left our appointment feeling beautiful!! We decided to airbrush my foundation and it was light and had great coverage. I loved everything about my makeup! She totally understood my vision and the result was wonderful. After our consultation, I received a comprehensive list of all the make-up shades and brands that were used. Lisa was so easy to talk to and sweet. Her business is ran very professionally and everyone is great. Krista handles all of the scheduling and follow-ups and she is so polite and professional. During all of the wedding planning, unless you are super organized, it's easy to forget things and Krista is really on top of everything! I couldn't believe that Lisa didn't have any reviews. I am the type of person that researches and reads reviews prior to making appointments so Lisa was a leap of faith for me. They have no set "look" that they are trying to go for but can do just about anything you want. I love a subtle look, which very few makeup artists do well, but they did fabulous. Finding Shannon Nicole through AWM was like a dream come true for my wedding this past April! She was the second person I met for a trial run a few months prior to the event, and I knew immediately that she was the MUA for me. Not only is she a killer artist and works with a really steady hand, but she also has a sunny disposition and is just fun to be around. Plus, her own makeup and hair and whole outfit were so flawless that I instantly trusted her artistic judgement. On the actual day of the wedding, she was just as cool and calm as the first time I had met her, and she had even saved the last little bit of blush that I had fallen in love with during our trial run. What a sweet, sweet pro! My bridesmaids loved her and the looks that she gave them, which were very different yet perfectly accentuated each individual's best features. I'm so happy to have come across Austin Wedding Makeup and have been able to work with Avery for my wedding! She did my makeup, my MOH, and my mother, and we all just felt so beautiful yet not too "made-up" that people wouldn't recognize us. I highly recommend the airbrush if you are going to cry--I cried multiple times through the course of the wedding (all tears of joy of course!) and my makeup looked the same at the end as at the beginning. Let me start by saying that I originally had no intention of getting my makeup done for my wedding. I thought the money could be spent better elsewhere and was just planning on doing it myself, but my mother insisted. I'm so glad she did!! I had a trial run, portrait session, and day of makeup done. Again, I thought the trial run wasn't necessary, but my mother insisted. And again she was right. The job Sonia looked amazing, but wasn't quite what I was going for. Because of this, I was able to email Lisa and tell her changes I wanted done. My portrait session actually got pushed back due to weather, and Sonia wasn't available on the day they were changed to. Luckily, Avery stepped in and did just awesome!!! I was so pleased with how the makeup turned out in my portraits. Finally, day of the wedding, Sonia braved the cold and rain, and came out to my venue. She was there 15 minutes early to start set up, and started the session right on time. My sister and mother-in-law and my mom all had their makeup done as well. Everyone looked flawless!!! I was so pleased. Sonia even stuck around and did a few touch ups on me right before the pre-ceremony pictures started.
