THIS.COMPANY.IS.AWESOME. I was in possession of all of my family's cherished home videos for the past few years, which made me very nervous since they are so very invaluable. A few months before Christmas I began thinking about what I wanted to get friends and family. My father is always the most difficult to buy for since he's a simple guy and doesn't want or ask for much. Then I remembered the videos and had the brilliant (if I do say so myself ) idea of converting them to DVDs as his gift! Since the nature of these irreplaceable, precious captured memories provokes anxiety, I knew I had some research to do. So I turned to yelp for help :) After I read all of Ben's wonderful reviews, I decided to give him a call. I was instantly impressed by his level of professionalism and excellent people skills on the phone and decided to meet him in person for a consultation. After a few minutes of discussing the project at hand, I was sold and found myself surprisingly comfortable leaving my family's treasured tapes in his capable hands. He told me it would take about a week and half, which I thought was brilliantly brief for the amount of tapes I had, and that he would be in touch. Sure enough he called about a week and a half later to let me know my order was ready to be picked up. I was overcome with joy when I saw how he and his crew had transformed our 8MMs. Each one was specially labeled according to content. All this on top of an extremely reasonable, best in town, unbeatable price? I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with Austin Video Solutions and I will definitely be back!!!!! It's so refreshing to know that businesses like this one still exist and you can have an experience worth raving about!!! Thanks for making this Christmas an extra special one for me and my dad, I definitely won the gift giving award this year :D read more

I contacted Ben while I was in Austin for week visiting from Chicago. I found him on Google and he just so happened to be conveniently located in South Austin where I was also staying. I also read his amazing reviews on Yelp (see filtered below) and his website was also very informative so I decided to give him a call. I had several VHS-C tapes that I brought with me and I wanted to convert to them to DVD while I was in town. Ben was very responsive. He agreed to convert them all to DVD and have them ready for pick up before I left town. I stopped by to drop them off - we had a nice rapport too - being he was originally from Chicago! I asked to put several tapes on one disc and separate them by chapters. He said it wouldn't be a problem and that they would be ready in 2 days! I couldn't pass up his prices too, so reasonable! And way more affordable than any other company I found in Chicago! After 2 days, we stopped by to pick up the DVDs. It was a fast, seamless and smooth transaction. And we immediately went home to watch the videos. The quality was great - the chapters were laid out exactly like I asked, everything was just as I had hoped. And to top it all off - they were completed before I left. That was my biggest request!! I have several more VHS-C tapes and even some cassette tapes from my College DJ days that I would love to have converted to DVD and CD. I am so confident in Ben's skills and impeccable work - that I will probably just mail him a box of tapes from Chicago so he can convert them - rather than using a local (more expensive) Chicago company that I have never worked with before! Overall - very pleased! read more

For some reason my bad reviews of this business keep getting "filtered" so I will continue to post on here often in hopes that others will not make the same mistake I did. I left a few old VHS videos to be converted to DVD's and was told by Ben 5 days max....That he would call me when they were ready. No money was exchanged. That was Sept 27th. Now, almost a month later, I can not reach Ben by phone (his voicemail says full) by email (his website has disappeared) or by physically going to his residence (he doesnt answer even though you can hear someone moving around inside). When I went to his apartment hoping to catch him at home there was a lady sitting on his porch waiting for her confirmed appointment that was arranged just the day before. I'm still not sure how since he has metaphorically disappeared. We both ended up leaving notes on his door when 30 min later he still was not answering. Shocker, no phone call, no email, no reply. I'm at a complete loss as to what he could possibly want with my stuff. I am a total stranger who has no beef with him and just wants my childhood memories on film back. :-( read more

THANKS TO ADAM'S AND BEN'S COMPANY, AND THEIR PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL SERVICE! The computer I used for both audio, and video production was destroyed. I obtained another unit which had a "small problem" at a low cost. The thing did not function or even boot up the operating system. ADAM was able not only to solve the problem, but provided me with applications and drivers I didn't even know I needed. The new PC operates more smoothly, with fewer problems than the old one ever did, simplifying my audio and video work. I received a call the day before my appointment to confirm, and service took place at the time agreed upon. I was confident in dealing with this professional service, the cost was fairly reasonable, and we will be consulting with AVS again. Thanks AVS! Stanford Blair read more

Great Job from Ben on his editing my wedding videos for my anniversary Glad I was patient though he is a very busy guy even when his website went down for more than a week. His prices were so reasonable do wish he was easier to contact but I was very well pleased so if you have patience this is the guy to go to And now that W--- camera store is closed ALL our needs will be completed by Ben our new Go to Guy.. Don't know about those other reviews but seems like that one guy is jealous Or something this is a video editing company not a music store company at least not that I know of? Again Thank you Ben My friends and I at the circuit court will be sending more work your way because we know you can do the job very professionally in your small studio! Thanks Bry read more

I had close to 20 old tapes (video8 and VHS) that needed transferring to digital format. Doing it myself was taking hours I really didn't have so I started looking for places around town that could do it for me. Most places wanted an arm and leg for it, but AVS was very reasonably priced (starting at $5.00 a tape) and the customer service was exceptional. Ben drove across town to meet me and pick up the tapes, went over all the options to help me decide the best format to get them in and had them back to me within just a few days. Quality was great, and he even cleaned up a few where the tape quality was not so good. Lucky for them, I have about 40 more DV tapes I need transferred and I wouldn't even consider taking them somewhere else at this point. read more

I used AVS for my Uberjewelrydesigns jewelry pics and also several of my grandmothers very old 8mm tapes and pics from the Ukraine I saw my blurry stained pictures come alive and clarity of restoration was unbelievably clear...I could actually see the eyelashes of my grandmothers eyes. I was so happy I cried. My family was alive again. Ben was so very helpful and i had options to even put all on a hard drive for posterity so all my children and grandchildren and great grandchildren will now be able to see their family and our heritage. This is the absolute perfect editor in Austin he is talented and kind, and also Very reasonably priced for the hours and talent he puts into his projects. I wish there was 10 stars and i would give him. read more

My band needed a demo made to pass out at our shows. After an exhaustive search for audio engineers I found Austin Video Solutions. Man these guys are awesome!!! They came and recorded us at our studio and a week later we had the most unbelievable recording of our band! I can't believe how good they made us sound. Very very reasonable rates and extremely friendly. Ben opened up his home to us and made us feel like part of his family! I am so impressed with how professional these guys are that I just booked a session to have them film our first Music Video! July 21st Sam's Town Point Austin Texas! Highly recommended! I was about to hop in my car and head to Wolf camera (where they charge over $30 per tape!!!!!), but decided to do one last search for a local company to transfer my two VHS tapes to a DVD. Luckily, I came across Austin Video Solutions!! Ben was so awesome and met with me that day. He was able to complete the transfer quickly and return my tapes and DVDs the next afternoon... all for $12! That's a FIFTH of the price I would have paid for two transfers at Wolf! Ben is professional and treats all clients with respect... even if your project is as small as mine! I will definitely be a return customer and wouldn't waste my money anywhere else! read more

When I took in a 27 year old rat's nest of a cassette tape to Austin Video Solutions, I had little hope that my aunt' interview with my late grandmother could be restored. These guys are truly amazing--I can understand every word. It took hours of careful work, diligence and persistence. The price was amazingly low--always good news. My family members and I are so grateful to have the recording...so many good memories. I will definitely use Video Solutions again. Wow! I am certainly impressed with the excellent quality of the dvd's I received from Austin Video Solutions when I had VHS- C home movies transferred over to dvd's. Ben is a wonderful person to work with, his courteous and professional manner is refreshing. I weighed the options of buying a machine and trying to transfer home movies myself, or having the work done. And guess what? It is worth it to get it done at AVS - no stress in a time when days are too short already:-) Thank you AVS - I'll be back soon! Teresa read more

If you need any old tape put on a DVD, these guys are the go-to in Austin. Save your memories on DVD and use Austin Video Solutions. Highly recommend! -Travis read more

DO NOT do business with AVS. Ben flat out stole music from me that I had written, recorded, and produced. He then tried to pass it off as his own. He neither sought out my permission to do so, or offered an apology when I confronted him about it. He is shady and not to be trusted. If you will also notice, AVS does everything in it's power to have the negative reviews (which in reality are far more common than the positive ones) removed from Yelp. Don't trust him. Plain and simple. read more

I've only used AVS once, but will continue to refer all my friends to them, as well as continue to use them in the future. They did a fantastic job on my 20 year old VHS tape, transferring it to DVD as well as an electronic file format I could use to edit it. They scanned over 150 pictures for me, color corrected them, and reduced the "noise" on them at 600 dpi. All of this happened in a matter of 3 days! Great work from a great company! read more

I went to AVS with a problem, and they solved it. The experience left nothing to be desired: their service was affordable and the staff was personal, professional and diligent. I was facing a tight deadline, and they did in a day what their competitors needed a week to do. No questions about it, AVS earned my repeat business. Highly recommended. read more

I recently took a bunch of old family videos to AVS to be transferred to DVD. I was very happy with the final product. One of the tapes, which was very important, wouldn't play in our VCR. Ben took apart the tape and was able to fix it. I was really surprised how affordable everything was. I will definitely use Austin Video Solutions again. read more

Excellent service at a great price. Compared to what other businesses advertise for tape transfers, I thought AVS was too good to be true, but called Ben and decided to give it a go. He converted 8 tapes for me with a one-day turn-around and I couldn't be happier with the results. read more
