He's done exceptional work on my cars and those of my friends for many years. I've called on a Friday at quitting time with a bad fuel pump and Marlin called me back just before noon Saturday to say he had it fixed cheaper than originally anticipated. I challenge any other repair service to show up on a day off to drop a full tank of gas and replace the pump faster than the shop manual calls for. I have been an industrial mechanic 20 plus years and admit to having a few tools..somewhere in with the shoes. I can usually even change blinker bearings without asking for Marlins help over the phone. But I'm not an auto mechanic and even tho I can strip a wood screw just like a pro, I have confidence in my friend Marlin "goon" Jones and his team to keep my cars and trucks going and stopping the way they were before I tried kicking the radio to get the wipers going. It takes alor to hand over your keys. It is not often enough these days that you can trust implicitly. Trust Marlins Mechanix. I do, Joe S. Idaho falls 96 bronco and many others..

Without their help I would have been stuck in town, but they were so helpful that after analyzing the situation I was able to continue after getting advice to get me back to where I lived. Very friendly and would recommend them for sure. There are still great people out there. Thank you Marlin's Mechanix !

They called the next day wanting to know if we had spare keys, because they locked mine in the car. Then they went suspiciously radio-silent, so I called them after the weekend. "Oh, we think we know what the problem is," they tell me, "but when we tried to test it, we fried your computer. I'm trying to find one for it now. Might be a day or two." So I gave them three days and called for an update. "Well," she tells me, "the computer is in but we can't program all of it. We are getting ready to take it down to the Dodge dealership and get it programmed. Then we can get it back here and fix it. Should be done this afternoon. I'll call you." So I call them four days later, and some random dude answers the phone and tells me, "Oh, yeah he's out road testing right now. Let me just, let me, oh, he's back and under the hood, but the phone won't reach that far so I can't ask him about it. We will call you back in about 20 minutes." So 2 hours later I text my husband and suggest I'm sick of getting jerked around and maybe HE should call the guy and see if HE can get an answer. He decides to drop in and visit instead. "What's the deal with the car?" he asks. "I dunno. Had some other things come up," answers the mechanic. The conversation went quickly downhill from there, but eventually it was determined my car would be done within 24 hours. So they call me today (who knew? I guess their phone IS capable of dialing out!) and tell me my car is done. Since we both get home late from work, my father-in-law picks it up for me and we go to his house after work. "The key on the ring is your new key," he tells me. "The old key on the other thing only unlocks the door, but won't start it any more." Somewhat skeptical about this greeting, I go check to make sure my fob still works- golden. Which suddenly makes me wonder about the usefulness of the spare keys that came with the car. But I digress. "As long as the friggin AC works all the time," I decide. "That's all I care about." "Meh," he answers. "Didn't seem that great to me." I get in my car, inspect my receipt, start it up and head down the road, squinting into the lukewarm breeze blasting out of my dash, trying to remember how to program my stereo. Home is approaching, and my breeze remains indistinguishable from the air outside my window. I swing wide and add a couple miles to the trip. You know, in case for some reason it takes a little longer to start working. 10 minutes later, I sit in the driveway staring dumbfound but disturbingly not disbelieving at the dash of my car, blowing balmy air at my face like a Florida summer breeze. It no longer even gets cold the first few minutes. Just... just nothin. 12 days they had my car. A new key, a new computer, two new switches, a fresh batch of freon (it was full when I dropped it off) and a bonus fee for "evacuate and recharge AC to change switch" and now I have even LESS air conditioning than I had to begin with. So if ever you're in Blackfoot, Idaho, and you have car problems, don't take it to Danny's Auto. They'll keep it 2 weeks, break shit that ain't broke, never call you back, charge you a couple hundred bucks, and not even road test the fucking thing and make sure it *actually* works before they give it back. UPDATE: They are refunding my money. I'll take it somewhere to get fixed.

Cannot say enough good things about Smith Chevrolet in Idaho Falls. We were traveling through…read moreJackson Hole when the OnStar system flagged an engine and transmission alert on our 2026 Silverado -- a truck that's only two months old. The Chevy dealership in Jackson Hole told us it would be 2.5 weeks just to get it in the door, which wasn't going to work for us. So we made the hour-and-a-half drive to Smith Chevrolet, and I'm so glad we did. Craig, the general manager, and Jason, the repair specialist, were fantastic to work with from start to finish. They took the alerts seriously and looked at the truck right away, and went above and beyond trying to track down exactly why the engine and transmission warnings were going off. The difference in service and urgency compared to what we'd been quoted elsewhere was night and day. If you're anywhere in the area -- or even a good drive away like we were -- these are the people you want handling your vehicle. Highly recommend.

I was told they didn't believe it was covered under warranty and that they couldn't fix it. No alternatives or solutions were offered to me at that time. Wanting a second opinion, I took my vehicle to another Chevy dealership in Rexburg. Within 10 minutes, they confirmed the issue is absolutely covered under warranty and are now taking care of the repair. After that, I called back to Smith Chevy and was then told they don't handle those repairs in-house and send them to Young Auto Body. This was never mentioned during my original visit. If it had been, it would have saved me time and frustration. To make matters worse, the manager I spoke with was dismissive and came across as rude when I tried to clarify the situation. I expect better communication, transparency, and customer service--especially when it comes to something as straightforward as a warranty issue. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location.

They said the battery was dead and they couldn't do any further testing without a new battery. They send me an invoice with several parts that needed to be replaced. I was confused so asked for clarification-- on one hand, they said they haven't done any testing at all, on the other, they wanted to replace several parts - total bill $2300. I ask and they reiterate that they need to replace the battery to do the testing. At the same time, they admit that they aren't sure if all those parts need to be replaced, but still asked for me to approve the work. I authorize the battery change and testing on their online app assuming that they'd replace the battery and we could continue with the testing... I did NOT approve the part replacements because they made it very clear that they weren't sure what needed to be replaced. A week later, I've heard nothing, so I text them back. They closed the ticket because I wasn't a good fit for them -- I guess asking questions about your vehicle is too much for these guys to handle. End result - we've been without a car for a week. They have changed turn-signal lights without charging for labor; they have come to my house for a service call to "haul" my Enclave to the shop and didn't charge and they have shuttled me all over the "IF Valley" w/o charge. My friends, that's what I call "Keeping the Customer Satisfied"! I've read some of the negative reviews and know that I've experienced some of the same issues with other dealerships in IF. A lot of the time it is communications, i.e., between the service coordinate and mechanic, and then between the service coordinator and the customer. I will make Wackerli my first stop for buying a new car, but compare with other dealerships for calibrating their "deal" and keep them honest. My Enclave has been the best car I've owned, and I will always trust Wackerli to keep my "Garage Queen" in top notch condition. We then signed a mutual Purchase Order and went to buy it... only to learn they didn't actually have the title! My bank wouldn't cut the check until they had the title (naturally, what bank would take that risk with no title?) so we waited for them to get the title so we could buy it. Yes it was sitting on their lot, but they chose to sell it without the title in hand. While waiting, with a mutually signed PO (a legal document), we learned they had sold the vehicle to another party. Not only is this potentially illegal, it is downright shady. I would avoid this dealer at all costs since they don't play by the same rules they ask you to play by. Very disappointed in the entire experience.
