I run a small fitness and martial arts studio…read more We were looking to expand, so I contacted my brother, who is a very well to do real estate agent in Seattle. He said he'd find me someone here in Austin that I can trust. This turned out to be Steve Shire. The things that I liked most about Steve are: 1. He is very accessible. That was big for me. From previous experience with another guy, I realized that I wanted someone who would constantly keep me updated on our progress. In fact, when I mentioned this to Steve, he told me that if there was any issue it would be that he would provide me with too many updates. That, to me, was a good sign. 2. He is thorough. He took the time to explain things to me, and he seemed generally interested in actually helping me get the best deal I could. I didn't feel like I was just another transaction. I felt like he enjoys helping people and he offered me suggestions and ideas for ways to save money on any future work that I have done to the place. 3. He is a martial artist and has helped a lot of others find a gym. Obviously this won't apply to many people, but if anybody else is looking to open a gym, it's nice to know that you're working with a guy who understands the ins and outs of what you need in a space. In the end, I got a great deal on a space close to my current location. Everything worked out perfectly.

And when I looked around the shabby "office," everybody looked like they were still in college. Well, that's probably true. HOWEVER, I was very impressed by Team Apartment Locators for their terrific service. Yes, I was apartment hunting just the other day and my agent Thomas showed me some fabulous places. And not only did he find places ideal for me, in terms of cost and location, but he asked the questions I forgot to ask the landlords. And the landlords really do respect him, despite his frat-boy appearance. (This is Austin.) I ended up finding a place through a friend, but I would probably go back to Team Apartment again if I was in a rut.

We set an appointment to look at places Monday at noon. So far so good, but then it began going downhill. Christina called me at about 10:30 on Monday (read: only an hour and half before our appointment) to ask me some more questions about my needs, and turns out none of the places I'd picked actually fit. She agreed to keep looking around and sent me some links to places she found. Every place she sent me was outside the geographical area I wanted to live in, and in really bad parts of town. I kid you not, according to google street view, one place was across the street from "Ideal Fadez & Colorz". I emailed her back and politely reiterated where I wanted to live and asked if there was anything else she could find. Her response (and this is copy/pasted): "I am not seeing any right now. Check out our website and see if there is anything else you are interersted in and I wlll be happy to show it to you." Is this a joke? The whole point of getting a realtor is to cut out the legwork. A few days later she emailed me to see if I had "found anything". No, honey, that is YOUR job, and I am SO done working with you.
