Excellent food and service....we were there for a special event. The French onion soup was fantastic....all of our food was cooked to perfection and they were very gracious hosts.

We love staying in Keene Valley and walking to this place for dinner after a day of hiking. The soups are killer and always my favorite menu items! I've had split pea, Hungarian mushroom and tomato bisque - all were extremely good. Beer on tap selections are limited but they have some top notch selections including big slide ipa, fiddle head ipa and Ainu brown ale. The specials have all been very good - chicken parm, tenderloin medallions for example. The chefs know what they are doing. I had the pesto penne and roasted butternut squash, both were quite good. I usually wouldn't order these at a restaurant because they tend to be overcooked, but I trust they will be nicely done here. My only complaint is the food can be a bit bland. I'd prefer more salt and spice.

Awesome stop along the route to Lake Placid. Once the historic Spread Eagle Inn, they have good down home cooking, sandwich's and beer and a full bar.

Have visited twice already, so I'm ready now to note down my thoughts. Keep in mind I'm from NYC, so my standards seem to be overall very high. Eating out is nice, and the service is good the lady there is straight but nice. Food is said to be fully fresh and homemade, I find it a bit hit and miss, somethings are amazing and others not so much. The good: wings, pork chop special, chicken parm The bad: fish dishes are bland, chicken in salads is cold, overall everything needs some salt. I would say, if you are like 5 minutes away and need some food, sure thing go there, if you have to drive more than 15 mins to get there, just go somewhere else

So crowded at bar we sat by faux fire place. Fun times in pouring rain!!

Stopped in for lunch on the patio and it was delicious. Homemade chips and pie are a must! Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the ADK!

They took us in on a very snowy Thursday night... blizzard conditions. We had the Jay room a king size bed and queen futon. It was my husband and our two daughters. Nothing was open for dinner as the town had closed because of the weather - the innkeeper made us cheddar scallion scones fresh out of the oven they were delicious. The inn is classic Adirondack wide plank floors fieldstone fire place.. big porch with Adirondack chairs. The room was large and had its own bathroom. Nothing fancy but absolutely perfect. Would definitely come back and recommend !!

Very disappointed. I'm keeping this brief but wanted to warn others because some of the issues we…read morehad staying here. The room: We asked for a room with a view and rustic surroundings when we booked. The room was nothing as expected. We had a view of the parking lot. We also learned as soon as we arrived the room had no lock on it. The owner felt that it was not necessary and assured us we should not be concerned. In this day and age, a lock IS necessary! The bathroom: We had a jacuzzi hoping to enjoy a hot bath after a long day of hiking. Well, when we tried the jacuzzi, the hot water knob kept falling off. Went to the owner and he basically just pushed it back on and said it was not a big issue. The timer on the jacuzzi kept shutting off within a few minutes so we had to keep pushing the jet button for it to work continuously. The bathroom had other problems. The center light had a bulb out. There was no shower curtain (I reported this as well). There was a shelf in the bathroom that was missing completely. Very rustic indeed! The bedroom: The "queen" bed was 2 single beds pushed together so me and my husband could not sleep near each other otherwise we would sink in the middle. After hiking all day, we passed out each night anyway, but this was a pretty pathetic sleeping situation. Breakfast: No breakfast was served at this B&B when we stayed since the cook didn't work on the days we stayed. Okay, I could handle that but not even coffee was available in the morning unless you used the Kuerig in the kitchen that was for the guests. We could have waited until one of the owners got up to make a real pot, but at this point, I opted to go get food at the diner. The last straw: We came back to our room one day after a long day of hiking and the door to our room was wide open. We believe the cleaning lady must have had to leave suddenly (I'm guessing) since there was some cleaning supplies left in the room. This was the final straw, and since we were leaving the next day, I never said anything to the owners about this. By this point, I was pretty much done with this place as you can imagine. Honestly, so much was wrong with this place, I would never go back. Stay here at your own risk.

We were charmed. PROS - Location location location. The cabins are located right in the center of things, never more than 30-45 min from all mayor hikes. - Cozy and comfortable. Each cabins comes equipped with most basic amenities (coffeemaker, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, silverware and glassware) - Parking is very close to each cabin, so you never have to walk more than a few steps. CONS - Wifi, even though it was offered we had mixed feelings on this. My boyfriends phone picked it up right away, mine never did. This was from our cabin, so perhaps if you were closer to main house it would have been better? I think they need a better wifi connection. - No microwave. I wish I had ask more specific questions. - Not that many hooks in the cabin. We did long winter hikes and needed a way to hang our clothes only to realize that there weren't that many hooks. We improvised by hanging in curtain rods and on the doors. This could be quite helpful. Overall, it was a good value for the money. Wayne is a great host. We never made it to the main cabin so perhaps some of the above would have been different.
