Within an hour of posting my initial review regarding a delayed referral bonus, the owner…read morepersonally reached out, apologized for the administrative oversight, and sent the $500 immediately. I really appreciate the direct accountability and quick resolution. I'm leaving my original review below for transparency, but their prompt response today restored my confidence in their management. I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

We are so happy and satisfied with our system and our bills have gone from $300 plus a month to less than $40 a month. Also when the power has gone out in our neighborhood the battery backup has saved the day. Stellar value, workmanship, professionalism and service plus a 25 year warranty. Highly recommended

The 4th year production shows improvement over the 3rd year as I kept the panels clean. However,…read moreit's still about 4.8% below the minimum guaranteed production (accounting 0.25% maximum annual panel degradation). It's 4 year in a row now the system failed to produce the minimum guaranteed production. AWS Solar chose to compensate for the shortfall again; we'll see what the 5th year production looks like. I suggested replacing some of the panels with the higher power ones to solve the issue, but I guess they want to see more data.

I hired AWS Solar to install solar panels on my home In May 2026. They completed the job a few…read moreweeks later. They did a very good jod. I am pleased. However, upon completeing the job, the project manager Tim Broughton called me, helped me log on to the Enphase app so that I could monitor the panels. After I confirmed that I was logged in, I was told that I was up and running And they were done. I was happy thinking I was now running on the sun. Wrong. So very wrong. I received my electric bill and astonished to see the electric portion was over $800.00. I called the power company and was told that the $130.00 application fee had not been paid. I notified Mr. Broughton and he immediatley saw that the bill for the application fee was paid and apologized for the error. Now the fun begins. I called the power company and asked when they would be out to install the proper meter for solar panels. I was informed that no application for a meter to be installed was on file and that I had to submit an application for interconnection. Hmm? No one mentioned anything to me about completing and application or that I had to contact the power company. I completed the PTO (Permission to Operate) form and based on the questions being asked and the information I needed to provide leads me to believe the Solar company was responsible for completing this form and sending the required fee. Ok. Lets not look to for someone to blame, lets just get the proper meter installed. I completed the PTO and submitted it. The power company came out a couple of weeks later and installed the a new meter. Onlyit was not a meter for solar panels. They installed the same new meter but it was the same meter as the meter I already had. I asked them why they didn't put on a solar meter and I was told that I needed to submit a PTO for a SOLAR METER, which is different. And by the way, they have a special person that installs solar meters and a special person to install regular meters. This seemed rather stupid to me. I ask the power comapany rep for the contact info for the solar department and he told he didn't know. I won't name the power company. LADwp. The one good thing the DWP rep did upon arriving to his office was to send an email to contact the proper department at the power company. I assumed he would have just gone about his business and let me flounder. I started on the second application which asked for job site photos. This was to me another indication that the solar installer was suppose to complete this form because Joe Citizen would not know what photos they were required. I did observe that periodically, the workers would take photos, but none were ever sent to me. Now I'm in the middle of August 2026 with fingers, legs, arms, eyes and anything else, maybe the dogs and cats, crossed hoping that this time I will get a meter. The bottom line is I would still recommend AWS SOLAR to anyone, but I'd have to caution them to make sure they get you connected and ALL fees are paid. Because I was dealing with the City of LA and being constantly sent to voice mail and waiting for call backs, this experience was horrendous.

In short, Sunko Solar and it's owner Marco Iwabuchi are amazing. I highly recommend you select…read moreSunko Solar for your solar project. They are extremely knowledgeable, hard working, reliable, honest/trustworthy, great to work with, and very timely. Marco delivered our project on budget/in accordance with our contract and on time. From the day we started work, Marco and the crew finished their install and LADWP had us operational (i.e. - generating KWH from the solar panels) in about 2 weeks. Our project was particularly challenging because the largest roof area, where the greatest number of panels could be located, is north facing with a down slope. Nearly all solar companies I spoke to will only install panels on the roof following the slope of the roof. If our panels were installed that way, when the sun is in the southern sky providing max energy, the panels would not capture as much of the energy from the sun and the panels' KWH output would be significantly reduced. But Marco utilized a "reverse tilt" approach whereby the back, down slope edge of the solar panel is lifted 18" off the slope of the roof. This is critical to capture as much of the energy from the sun as possible and maximize the KWH output from those panels. Enclosed is a pic that demonstrates the "reverse tilt" feature we used on the north facing, down slope part of our roof (see middle left, tilt detail pic and lower right, side view of the house pic). Since July 20th through August 14th, we have been generating a daily average of 55 KWH per day. If you hire Sunko Solar/Marco to do your install, you will be extremely happy with the result. I can say that because that is exact how we feel!

Marco was excellent to work with and is a man of his word. Even afterwards when we had complications with the city, Marco made sure to take the lead on the issue and help us make sure that our solar was connected. I appreciate and respect how transparent and genuine Marco is. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for Solar!
