Gil is super honest. we had problems with 2 of our ceiling fans that no longer responded to the remotes. Rather than come out and charge us $$$ Gil kindly talked my husband through how to repair the fans ourselves. Rare to find such honestly anymore. Gil will get all our future electrical work for sure. read more

I've been using Amor Electric for years now - through my rental apartment and now as a homeowner - and Gil has never let me down. He's become my go-to for anything electrical, and for good reason. What I love most about Gil is that he's completely no-nonsense. He tells you what actually needs to be done, never tries to upsell you on unnecessary work, and doesn't create problems that don't exist just to pad the bill. That kind of honesty is rare and so valuable. The quality of work is always top-notch. In my rental, he installed smart switches in a way that made them easy to reverse when we moved out - thoughtful and practical. At my condo, he's added outlets in much more convenient locations and upgraded my circuit breaker when an inspector flagged it as not up to code. Everything was done professionally and solved exactly what we needed. As a woman who handles most of the home projects in our house, I also really appreciate that Gil has never once talked down to me or suggested my husband should be doing this work instead. He treats everyone with respect and just gets the job done right. If you need an electrician who's honest, skilled, and respectful, I can't recommend Amor Electric enough. Gil's the kind of contractor you want to find and keep in your contacts forever. read more

GREAT. Easy appointment set up, flexibility, and amazing price. Had two dimmers replaced and they checked to make sure everything was in proper working order. It's a great feeling having a job done and not feeling like you were taken for a ride. Highly recommend these guys. read more

I can highly recommend Amor for your electrical work needs. They replaced two light fixtures for us and installed two GFCI outlets. The technician was fast and efficient. I will definitely call on them for our future electrical needs. read more

Gill from Amor Electric gave us great advice to check the CFI circuit breaker. Gill was bang on the money, we reset the breaker the 2 outlets that were out turned back on and everything was working again. And No Charge. Thank You Amor Electric, Thank you Gill. read more

Fast response and solved the problem on the spot. Really knows what he's doing. A find!

Called Gil to help with an electrical wiring problem a previous electrician said he didn't know how to fix. Gil was very responsive and came to my place and fixed the problem, explaining everything the whole time. Highly recommend. read more

Gil took note that we were having an urgent issue at the house and worked us into his busy schedule. He came by within two hours' time and went through our outlets, fuse box and local wiring to help us assess the issue. As it turns out, the problem was not within the house but one with Edison. Gil let me know how to explain the issue to them. They in turn came out and fixed the problem that day. We honestly had no idea where to begin, and by calling in an expert we were able to get what appeared to be a big problem resolved quickly and inexpensively. read more

Gil and Ramon did a great job. Ramon helped install a new ceiling fan. Gil tackled diagnosing various lights and light switches that were malfunctioning around our house. He and Ramon are trustworthy and knowledgeable. We will gladly hire him. Thank you!!! read more

I called Amor Electric to install an EV charger with city permit. Gil came and gave me a reasonable price and explained what he'll do. That was after 3 electricians went MIA on me because they didn't want to deal with the City and going through the permit process. Gil is very knowledgeable and very nice & reliable. He got the permit and was very responsive throughout the process even after we passed the inspection and I had a question regarding the EV charger. Highly recommend! read more

Update - I just called Gil to help with an electrical issue at my new place. It was a bit outside his service range but he was kind enough to give me some tips for troubleshooting the problem on my own. He really knows his stuff and is a nice guy too. read more

This guy has a degree in electrical Engineering. He knows his stuff! Today was a rainy day, and I decided to replace the exterior outlet, after that, the switch that controlled the exterior light blew several fuses in the house. So after realizing it was above my pay grade I started calling all the local electricians and Gil was the fastest to answer and got here in 30 minutes. It took him maybe 10 minutes to figure out the outlet issue ( was me improperly wiring it) AND he also fixed a 3 way switch that previous electrician could not figure out. All in all he was done in 40 min. Gil is very efficient, professional and pleasant to work with! read more

I had an urgent need to check out the power to an old home in Santa Monica. It was 1:30 in the afternoon. I called Gil and he was very professional, I explained my situation that I was only in town for the day and needed to get the situation checked. He said he could help and arrived about 40 minutes later. He spent the good part of an hour going through the service from the street through the breakers and through out the house. Even into the basement and up into the attic. He was able to locate the issue and we got it solved. I was very impressed and thankful he could address my issues so quickly. His price was very fair. read more

The best! They've done big jobs and small jobs for our family - all great work no problems. Amor electric is our go-to electrician. Thanks Gil! read more

Gill is a terrific electrician. He came quickly, and was masked and gloved when he entered our house. Gill quickly identified the problem and determined it would take some time to repair. Instead, he bypassed the problem area and arranged an other appointment to do the full repair. That went well too. We definitely recommend Gil and Amor Electric. read more

It was the day before Thanksgiving and my fridge was chalk full of groceries when half the power in my house went out. Lousy timing. I called Gil and explained my situation to him. He was able to get to me by mid afternoon and discovered the problem immediately. The circuit breaker was fried, literally melted into its casing. It was an unusual type of breaker and he drove all the way to his supply house in the midst of holiday traffic to get the necessary part before the close of day. His price was quite reasonable, especially considering that he spent over an hour and a half in traffic.I would definitely call on Gil again and again! read more

Gil and Fernando are amazing and I would highly recommend them! Very professional and delivered great work. Even though they're based in Santa Monica, they made time to make it over to Westwood to perform a much needed electrical repair to one of my outlets. Gil even took time to help me remotely troubleshoot the issue initially. Fernando arrived and was fast in determining and fixing the issue. I have a more electrical work that I would like them to work on and they're definitely my go to for electrical services moving forward. Highly recommend. read more

The basics: fast, professional, knowledgable. I'd use him again and recommend him to anyone. The details: I called in the morning and he was able to come by afternoon. The job was to install a new circuit breaker at the back of the house for an outlet in the front of the house. He thought it would be a full day job or he'd need a help, or asked if I wanted to assist pulling wire to save both time and money - amazing and fun to be involved. He stayed till 6 on a Friday and finished - even though he had intended to end early. Double amazing. And then he called on Saturday after reflecting on the job - he had an idea to improve his already great work - honest and caring like you'd expect from a friend. read more

Tonight our power went out and it couldn't have come at a worse time. I am extremely ill and have family in town helping out. We have a fully stocked fridge and it's a cold night in a terribly insulated duplex. And it's 11pm. I had no idea who to call, and I knew it would be expensive regardless. Luckily I called Amor. The gentleman that answered easily could have charged me $200 just to come take a look, but INSTEAD, he patiently sat on the phone while mom and I scrambled around with flashlights, and talked us through the whole thing. We eventually found the main breakers outside and fixed the problem (yes, not advanced...but for non-electrically inclined who aren't familiar with the building...). He was so nice and so knowledgeable, and saved us tons of time and money. I can't imagine how nice it would be if more businesses were run this way. I would recommend these guys simply on their business morals and his patience and knowledge and I will 100% be using them for all electrical needs in the future. read more

The lights at my place were going haywire, some didn't get enough power, some too much. And flipping on one switch would turn on something else. Found Gil here and he thought the problem was a loose neutral, and that there could be a lot of damage to appliances if the power surged, so he came right away. After troubleshooting for about 1.5 hrs he found the problem and fixed it, also tightening other wires and checking the circuit breaker. Rates very reasonable, and he walked us through how he solved the issue. Yay! Problem solved, I was afraid I'd have to chop open the walls to find the problem wire, but turns out it wasn't that drastic. Prices reasonable and he was very professional. read more

My ceiling fan/light stopped working, and Gil solved the problem over the phone. Such helpfulness and honesty are all too rare. I will certainly call him again if an electrical issue turns up. Many thanks! read more

This is my second review for Gil and Amor Electric, and I will continue to call Gil for all future electrical issues. I needed an electrician to assist the installation of new motors by the Shade Store. Unfortunately, the electrician would need to wait while the installers mounted the new unit after the electrician powered down the old one. From the moment I called Gil, he was professional and went out of his way to assist with my one-off request. When the work was completed, I was charged $50 less than what I was quoted. This is a no-brainer! Call Amor Electric -- promise you will be so happy with the outcome!! read more

WARNING strong language below: I don't think I've ever encountered a business owner be so rude and harassing to me and my girlfriend before. The employee that he sent to our home for an initial consultation was very nice and patient, but then a few hours after we got a very surprising and rude phone call from the owner where he berated my girlfriend and made her cry on the phone. Safe to say he lost any future business from us or any friends we know, and I will be actively looking for a different company to work with and will follow up with a review and recommendation. I wonder how poorly he treats his own employees if he even treats customers like this. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. read more

This owner of this business was so unbelievably rude to me today. I am disappointed with their business. I called yesterday to ask if they could install a chandelier and I wasn't sure if I could make a new hole in the ceiling for the electric or had to use the one already there, because my neighbors said they couldn't install a new one, because there was something blocking in the ceiling and all of our units are identical. I asked for someone to come to see if I could move the chandelier over to the center of the room. When Fernando came today, he was very nice and patient. I had him look in the ceiling to see if we could make a new hole and he said yes or that we could just keep it where it was. I wasn't sure if I wanted to move it or keep it so I called my boyfriend asking and then took a couple minutes looking at the room and thinking. Then Fernando asked if I would just rather him come back another day when I knew for sure what I wanted to do. So I said yes and asked him if I owe him anything for his visit today and he said no. I told him I would call tomorrow to book. He was very helpful. Then 20 minutes later, I get a call from the owner, yelling at me saying why would he send his guy over here if I didn't want to install a chandelier and that I cost him so much money as a company sending someone out here for 20 minutes.... He kept repeating himself again again demeaning and belittling me saying "it's not complicated; if you want to move the chandelier, then move it. you don't ask for someone to come there and tell them to leave. This is ridiculous." The whole time on the phone I am trying to explain to him what happened and he is just shouting at me. I finally told him he had lost me as a customer. A business owner should never speak to anyone like that. Now hours later I get a call from someone else at the company insisting on the same thing of why would I have someone come if I didn't install a chandelier. I again said that Fernando asked if he should come back another day when I was completely sure. Regardless, she just ignored me and very upset because my boyfriend had posted a bad review, which I am glad he did. The only apology I got was a "sorry for the miscommunication." Nothing at all about "sorry for his behavior. That is unacceptable" or anything like that. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a potential electrician to NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They do not value their customers at all, let alone even treat them with an ounce of respect. Unbelievably disappointed and I cannot stress anymore that you should find another electrician, because the owner of this company is flat out mean to his customers. read more

Our heating thermostat went out and we couldn't turn off the heat. Simple problem but I didn't want to mess with the thermostat because I couldn't identify the circuit breaker to turn off the power. Gil took care of the problem and, more importantly, educated me on my elecrical system so that I will be able to deal with this in the future. He was not super friendly at first, preferring to get right down to business. Once he got into it he was happy to answer all of my questions. His professional rate was well worth it because, thanks to his advice, I'll be able to replace these thermostats and handle this myself in the future. read more

Amazing!!!! I was in a bind having Airbnb-era at my house with the circuit breaker not working and not sure what to do on a Sunday. The man I spoke to was so nice, made himself available to come over despite it being a busy time but more importantly gave me some tips to see if I could fix it myself. (The only one of several I called who was conscious of my time and money.) Turns out he was able to help me via phone and get the problem solved right away without having to come over and he didn't charge me. When does that ever happen?!? I'm so appreciative of them and will DEFINITELY call them first for all my electrical needs going forward. Thank you!!!!!!!!!! read more

What a concept! You call an electrician at 10:30 am and he shows up at 12:30 to do the work! A timer, mounted in a light switch box for controlling some outside lighting, had failed and left the lights on all the time. Gil asked for a photo of the installation, which I took and texted him, along with my address. I told him I had a doctor's appointment at noon, but that my wife would be home. At about 12:30 I got a text that he was at the house. When I got home at 1, he had a new switch mounted and was just testing it. He asked me about on/off times and programmed them in. He left around 1:30 (3 hours after I had initially called him) and the job was complete. His charge was reasonable. I now have a new electrician! read more

Gil came by today and fixed my main panel breaker problems. He was as good and honest as it gets. Gil was straightforward, knew his stuff, and was looking out for my best interest (not to swindle me with padded hours and marked up part prices). I would highly recommend him. read more

Believe in the wisdom of crowds. Gil gets overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp! and I can see why. He did three small jobs at my house within 24 hours of me calling him. He was highly competent, very pleasant to deal with and several times during his visit advised me on the most inexpensive options to fix my electrical issues. The two negative reviews about the infamous chandelier incident detailed below told me a lot more about the entitled attitude of the reviewers than they did about Gil... read more

Awesome, professional work. I hired another electrician for $200 to fix a broken outlet. He said i needed to replace a breaker. Paid $65 at a store for a circuit breaker and it didnt fix the problem. Then he said it was a short in the wall and he'd have to come back and charge more to do it. I called Amor. Cost $125 and the problem was fixed in 20 minutes (short in the light switch) On top of that I could use the old breaker and take the new one back so he saved me $65 on top of that. These are my go to electricians from now on. I wish everyone was this good. read more

We needed some work done, and it wasn't the easiest. Chandelier needed to be installed, and needed its own switch. We wanted to add a pendant light above our kitchen counter, and it needed to get on the same switch as the other 2. We also had a ceiling fan that had been installed wrong (by us, because another electrician hadn't been able to figure out how to install it, so we did it ourselves), and was connected to the wrong switch. Fernando came right on time, was super clean, did everything perfectly, and really exceeded my expectations. First, because we've had bad experiences with people leaving behind a lot of dust and dirt. Second, because he brought a laser that allowed him to make sure the chandelier was being hung exactly in line with the center of the window. Third, because he took the time to talk to me about all of the switches in our bedroom and ask exactly what we wanted each to do (there are a lot, it's a confusing switch situation.) I was kind of jaded by previous electrician work, but Gil was great to work with over the phone (pointed out a lot of things I hadn't thought of), and Fernando was really awesome at doing the work. Thank!! read more

Thanks to the magic that is the Santa Monica Code Compliance Division, we had to upgrade not just the sub-panel in our apartment, but the entire service panel for our building. I called Gil Amor to take a look at our circuit breaker which we believed to be overloaded and thought we would need to overhaul. Gil returned our calls promptly and arrived at the house on time. He took a look at our set up and informedbme that we did not need an overhaul, but that the breakers had merely been mislabeled. He did this all free of charge as tree was no work to be done.
