Terry is the owner, and he is very nice, very professional, and most importantly an excellent craftsman and artist. He not only worked with me to design my ring, (and it was a pretty complicated design requiring laser cutting on the side, and the acquisition of a pretty unusual gem), he went out of his way to educate me and genuinely listened to my wants and was as excited as I was with the final results. He doesn't just do this for a living, he loves what he does and his work shows it. He was up front about costs and helped work within my budget respectfully and honestly, (other businesses have been condescending when asked about pricing details). I would absolutely recommend coming to take a look at the gold jewelry he has on display, but I would especially recommend him if you are looking to get something custom made. When I hesitated, the employee spent five minutes typing on her computer and suddenly came back with an "official" quote of over $500. It's hard to believe the price quintupled in five minutes, or that she suddenly didn't need to send them out for that quote once I questioned the deposit. Most concerning was the lack of expertise. I asked for an appraisal on a necklace clearly engraved with a "750" hallmark. She told me the stone was likely fake because the chain was white and "wasn't even silver." For a professional jeweler to not recognize the standard hallmark for 18k white gold is a massive red flag. Between the "bait and switch" pricing tactics and the inability to identify basic gold hallmarks, I wouldn't trust this shop with high-end jewelry. I'm glad I didn't leave a deposit and took my business elsewhere.

This information can be verified with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration - Publication# 73. I visited Legacy Jewlers to have my wife's rings resized. Upon the initial visit I met with one of the owners, Kevin who was very friendly and was able to assist us with determining the proper sizing of the ring. He mentioned it would take about a week to complete. The cost to resize (1 size down) a gold ring and platinum ring was $120. When picking up the rings I met with the other owner, Nick. He included sale's tax even though CA sale's tax is only applicable to purchasing materialistic items and not services. I explained that CA sale's tax is not applicable to services and he could verify this information with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) which is the CA State Department that administers the Seller's Permit which is required to operate the business. I even offered to show him exactly where this information could be found on the CDTFA website since he had a computer nearby. He declined and said he wasn't changing how he charges customers even though he refunded me the illegally charged sale's tax. It was interesting to encounter a business owner oblivious to the law while declining to learn and apply the law to prevent an audit, fees, and potential Seller's Permit revocation by the CDTFA.

I haven't seen anyone around me who wears this kind of ring design so I was excited to have a pretty unique ring. The blend between the gold and silver is beautiful, polished incredibly smooth with the weld barely being visible. This shop is pristine on the inside, the two men I interacted with were very straight forward and efficient, and the work is stunning. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured into any options, I was not asked if I wanted to buy a more expensive ring, I told them what I was there for, and they left it at that. The resize took a week, exact time frame they gave me, and was very reasonably priced. Could not recommend more.
