This place is a winner. We've been here a few times now since they opened in downtown Geneva and have had a great experience each time. During Swedish Days they were packed but we still were able to get a nice seat on the patio. We love this pizza. Our favorite is the basic pepperoni thin crust. The wait staff have shirts that say it's in the sauce and I'd agree. The sauce is what makes this pizza. You gotta try it. Wow, no reviews until mine? Aurelio's is MK's favorite pizza place on Earth. I had never had it until we married. (11/20/08) We ordered up a "Fiesta" Cheese and Sausage (18"). The pizza has that sweet tomato sauce that several Chicago places have become famous for. Just the right cheese, sauce and sausage. It's pick-up/delivery only which is a shame because I'd like to sit down and order sandwiches off the menu at some point. Also they don't deliver to North Aurora which means I need to spend gas money to go get it, but you know what? I do. As I've said many times, "best pizza" could be debated from now until the end of this millenium, so you just need to find what you like and get it. We had a wonderful time at Aurelio's last night. All thanks to our server, Matt. That young man can teach a thing or two about customer service. He was polite, smiled the entire time, did not push us out the door and was just so pleasant. When I didn't care for the wine, he brought me something else. He didn't make a big deal about it. So accommodating. I'm sure the owner will miss this young man when he leaves. I'll miss seeing him when I go back. The pizza was great, as was the antipasto. While we sat inside, they have a lovely outdoor space in the back that doesn't make you feel like your sitting behind a concrete parking lot. Very nicely covered. Great ambiance. The bar area also seemed friendly, and we did not spend any time sitting at the bar, the space looked great. Will definitely go back. Quick note - parking in a Thursday evening could be a bit tricky as the public parking the next block over is taken up by the car show. This is the quintessential family dinner place. It can be pricier for a family of 6 like us, but the food is awesome and we love being downtown Geneva! If you are not a fan of noisier, busy places then you might need to catch them on a slower night, but we love it! read more

We came here with a big group when we were in town for our wedding. The service was fantastic - we were not an easy crowd and our waiter did an excellent job accommodating all our whims, refilling our beers and was just generally great. The food was good. Went here tonight with a group of friends. The food was pretty good. Got the fried mushrooms and jalapeño poppers for our app. The fried mushrooms were great. Not a huge fan of the poppers. We ordered The Works pizza and everyone loved that especially the sauce. Why three stars? The service was just okay. Our waiter would come ask/answer a question and then disappear. I visited Aurelio's yesterday with my family for a dinner. It had been a while since I dined at Aurelio's, so we were looking forward to it. We were waited on by Kaylie and had a busboy named Rylan and both were extremely pleasant and attentive. I can't say enough about them, and they are a credit to their employer. We had a couple of orders of garlic bread and a large, family style dinner salad for beginners and it really hit the spot. I really like their house dressing and their garlic bread is consistently good. The best part is the pizza. We went with a traditional sausage thin crust, and a small pizza with some olives and tomato slices for the wife, who likes to try healthier options. I remembered this time to ask for the pizzas to be "well done", because while Aurelio's has a really nice crust on their pizza, having them cook the pizza just a little longer ensures a truly crisp crust. Neglecting to ask for well done will sometimes result in the center pieces of the pizza having a softer crust. Their sauce is clearly their selling point. There's something about it. It's sweet or something, but it's great and it's almost addictive. Even when I was full from eating too much, I wanted more. No room for dessert after my dinner there. Overall, it was a great experience. Their outdoor patio dining area was really nice with a great atmosphere. The pizza was as good as I've had it there, and the service couldn't have been better. The waitstaff was great - masks on and respectful of the state mandates but the management did NOT require guests to wear masks to their tables or while walking around the restaurant or outside. We walked into Aurelio's tonight, and even though it was a Friday it wasn't that busy. We were seated, and about 10-15 minutes later no server came to our table. We requested a server (at this point we should have left), and a server came by. We placed our entire order at once- including drinks, a salad and 2 pizzas. We got our drinks right away. After another approximately 20 minutes (maybe more) we still didn't even have a salad. At this point we just asked the server to cash out for our drinks so we can leave. I've read plenty of reviews about the service and it's never been great here, but wow. We just walked out with no food. I can't imagine ever returning. read more

It's been a while since I had been here so a few friends and I decided to give a shot. The moral of our story was that we had an enjoyable meal and drinks. We started out with a mixed appetizer plater filled w/ somewhat (not really) spicy boneless wings along w/mushroom poppers and fried ravioli. Throw in a few beers and we were on our way. We then had the deep dish pizza w/sausage that was packed with cheese and sauce. Add a few more drinks and we certainly were no longer in Kansas though Dorothy might have stopped by. Overall a great meal. The only complaint was it did get kind of noisy but maybe that's a good thing. People must like this place. read more

Every time my husband and I visit Geneva we eat at Aurelio's. The pizza is always delicious and on our last visit we ordered the wings which were exceptionally good. Our bartender/server Trish was amazing! She was so friendly and attentive. Our only complaint is that Trish wasn't able to pour draft beers. Not sure why because she was clearly over 21. As a result, we had to wait between rounds which was a bummer because we were on a getaway and weren't driving since our hotel was a block away. read more

My family tried this place for the first time and had a poor experience. Our server was nice but nearly non existent, my chicken for my Caesar salad was very over cooked and was difficult to chew, the pizza was more like a pizza bread, and my father's sausage was raw which he didn't realize until eating a good part of it. Placed an order for delivery of gluten free pizza and fries. The fries were in a paper bag. Once I opened the bag I saw the fries were in a clear plastic container that was melted. This container did not appear to be suitable for hot items. Because of the toxins in plastic and potential for leaching in the food or just plain eating melted plastic, I tossed the fries. I love the pizza best around town. When eating at restaurant staff has always been accommodating. Very tasty and we order almost weekly. Because we live on the west end of Geneva, we have it delivered and drivers are very nice. One area where there is need for improvement is the telephone staff. Realize it is busy and dealing with people can be difficult but a little more courtesy would be nice. I cannot help it that you can't type in the correct card numbers or you are distracted by talking so patience on your part would be welcome. Poor service. Our waitress only came to the table to take our order, give us our food, and give us our check. We had to go and find someone to let them know they gave us the wrong pizza. They finally gave us what they thought was the right pizza but it turned out our waitress misheard our order. It is an extremely noisy restaurant so we were not surprised. We had been there a long time so we just ate whatever pizza they had for us. To top it off, they made us wait a long time to give us our check so we could leave. The pizza quality was ok but should have been a lot better for the price. There are so many places to get good pizza in this area....you shouldn't have to pay a lot and put up with lousy service. The only reason this location gets 2 stars is because I LOVE the pizza. Grew up eating Aurelio's (in Homewood - the original location) and still crave it! However, after my family of 4 excitedly went to the new sit-down location in Geneva, IL we left so disappointed. While the pizza was as good as ever the service was awful. Also, we couldn't get over the fact that the prices were so high! I swear they must have raised their prices 20% compared to when they were just takeout across the street. It cost my family almost $80 for 2 pizzas, 4 sodas, and a small salad. I am still having sticker shock! Hate to say it, but even with gas prices so high, I would rather make the drive to the Addison location for fresh eat-in Aurelio's! Have to say I was a little disappointed after our first visit. We ordered the stuffed pizza which was loaded with sauce that tasted like Ragu, very bland. The pizza in my opinion was the worst I have ever had. I'll have to try their thin pizza next time. My son ordered a sandwich and wanted mustard. Can you believe they don't have mustard? We thought it was very odd that a restaurant wouldn't have mustard. Even though I had a bad experience I will try them one more time. Hopefully the thin pizza will be a hit. read more

We ordered an appetizer to start, they came out fast however they tasted like they were microwaved yet the insides of the poppers and cheese sticks were COLD. Halfway through our app we ordered 2 - 6 inch pizzas, 50 minutes later we finally received them, thankfully they were still warm! However during that 50 minutes we had absolutely zero communication from our waitress, and other people had already gotten their food, after being sat after us! The pizza was decent but not worth a 50 minute wait for a small 6 inch thin crust pizza. Will never return. Not worth the price either. First, the best part: our server, Lora, was one of those rare servers that makes you want to come back to a place, just because of the service. The second best thing was the dessert: a chocolate chip cookie, served warm in a pan, topped with vanilla ice cream, a mountain of whipped cream, and topped with some mini chocolate chips. Nothing else was worthwhile. We had previously eaten at the Aurelios at 83rd St. and Rt. 59 in Aurora, and it was not bad. So, when we found ourselves in Geneva, at about 8 p.m. on a Thursday evening, without having eaten dinner, we saw Aurelios, and stopped for a bite. The Italian Submarine Sandwich was probably the worst I have ever had, anywhere. The large, wad of ham, at the base of the ingredients, so overwhelmed all of the other flavors, that it was like grabbing a 1/4 pound of sliced ham, rolling it up, and biting into it. There were no discernible condiments on sandwich. No mayo, no mustard, no italian dressing, no oil & vinegar. Just a smattering of some other meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato on a large wad of ham, on a toasted bun. The chopped salad and the Antipasto salad were very large, but mundane, the key to both being the dressing. The house dressing (Italian) did not make these salads. (The BEST chopped salad dressing, anywhere, is at Portillos.) The Antipasto salad looked good, until it became clear that the bowl was mostly lettuce, TOPPED with some antipasto ingredients. The worst thing: just before we left, our daughter went to use the restroom. While she was in there, someone started mopping the floor outside the door to the restroom. She came out, slipped on the wet floor, and slammed her knee into the floor. The swabby, said, "Oh, I didn't know anyone was in there. I should have put out a 'slippery when wet' sign," which he, then, did. Lora, our server, empathized, but no one offered to document the incident. This morning, our daughter's knee is badly bruised and very swollen. Bottom line: if this was the first Aurelios we had ever been to, it would have been the last. read more
