I got my hair done for the first time in a salon and it was exactly what I asked for. I chose to go with Moon as my stylist. She was so kind in walking me through the process and each step. It felt so nice to be able to get my hair done professionally and I definitely felt very comfortable in the salon. The salon had such a calming atmosphere, they were playing music that I was able to enjoy. Although I don't know how much the other stylists charge, I felt my stylist is very fair with her pricing which was also a plus. I highly recommend going to this salon! read more

Hair stylists.. I see posts all the time and want to recommend a new one I just found yesterday, Ashley White with Aura Salon and Spa! I started months ago with a basic, at home red. I wanted something different and told the lady I went to I was looking at summer colors. She went way too pink for my liking and I really wasn't happy. Then, when it was time to touch up, I went to Ashley. We discussed my idea and looked at several pics. She said she had a great idea, and I LOVE IT! I'm a blonde naturally and have been red for about 10 years, but I love the subtle pinks and colors! She's amazing! She recently moved here from doing hair for 22 years in Alabama and is building her clientele. I currently have mixed emotions about Aura. I've been getting my hair cut here for over 6 years and I'm now on my 5th stylist. I have an inverted bob, which isn't the easiest to cut. I get that. 3 stylists have gone on to other jobs, 1- fantastic human but can't cut a bob and I'm still with my 5th. I've only really loved 2 of them and I've had 2 very distinct hair cuts that have sent me home crying. BUT in the middle of all of that Brooke was amazing for a long time and LuLu is my current stylist and she is THE BOMB!! The reason I keep going back - their prices are amazing compared to the rest of ATL AND - I know the owners hire great talent. I trust that whoever they hire will be able to cut my hair. ** Please read before using this salon ** I have had my hair colored every 6-7 weeks or so for the past 15 years religiously. I take very good care of my hair utilizing Olaplex every other week and switching shampoo's between Olaplex shampoo and Kerasilk Gold shampoo and conditioner. With that said, I have always had very healthy, yet blonde colored hair. My hair is naturally a medium brown, however I have been a blonde for about 15 years. The reason I preface with this is because I want to share my experience and what happened to me at this salon on THREE separate occasions. I had my hair colored here. I asked for a full highlight and a cut/trim. After the stylist messed up the color the first time and I had to come back it was a brassy blonde and the stylist just said "I don't know ... I guess your hair doesn't take well to color" which is odd that it has always done fantastic with color. Skip to the third and final time I came here. I told the stylist I wanted an icy blonde ... NOT brassy. She colored my hair and when she went to dry is she said, "hmm ... let's redo it and just try again" so back to highlighting she went. Then another girl came to look at it and said, "let's just paint it and see what happens." I thought what in the world is this establishment doing to my hair?! I called the owner who set me up with one of the "best" stylist she had. That was an awful joke. She put 10 (yes only 10) highlights in my hair as a "redo" and said when I schedule a full appointment with her, we can work towards getting it right again. So I paid all that money for nothing and not even a refund issued. If the "best" stylist would have actually fixed it, I wouldn't have been so upset. Poorly ran business. If you're a blonde and want an actual professional to do it for you that knows the difference between brassy and platinum and knows which toners work best ... I recommend Studio 5 Salon in Canton. Look up their reviews. Incredible studio and worth the lower cost. Look at my photos of where they botched my color and it took so long to correct, however thanks to Makayla at Studio 5, it is absolutely perfect now. Oh, yes and I had scalp burns that were diagnosed by the doctor as severe and the owner and the "best" stylist didn't seem to care at all. Just awful. read more

Today, I visited this salon for my third time. I absolutely love it. I originally found this salon on Groupon. I got a deep conditioning & a cut. The salon is beautiful, spacious & a good vibe. I only see Elaina, as she does amazing curly cuts. I've always had a hard time finding someone that can consistently cut curly hair but, Elaina is definitely highly recommended. I had a wonderful experience at Aura! It was my first time visiting this salon, thanks to a referral from a friend! Upon arrival I was greeted and given a tour of the salon! They made me feel right at home. Their space is beautiful and very clean. My appointment was with Erin. During the consultation part, I appreciated that she didn't rush me along. She listened to everything I had to say about what I wanted, what I didn't want and she looked at the pictures I had. But I really appreciated that she asked me questions to clarify exactly what I said. She made sure that we were on the same page and then she laid out the plan of action! Erin took her time with me. She takes pride in her work and it is evident. She is very busy (because she's awesome) so while my hair was processing she would cut another client. Sometimes this can make you feel neglected but I always felt like she was paying attention to the time on my hair and she never forgot about me or rushed my process along. She manages her clients very well! Another girl, Anna shampooed me and gave a fabulous hand massage! I really liked that they add this little perk on! Hot towel on the face and a hand massage, winning!! I asked for a vibrant pinkish purple color and that's exactly what I got! I asked for a "whispy" cut, not blunt at all and she delivered! I have been a customer of Aura Hair and Makeup for over three years and I have never had service so bad. I had an appointment for both my daughter and I on a Saturday in the morning, I call on Thursday night to check the time and my stylist is no longer there. I was not informed and had to scramble to find someone else. The other stylist I requested, Briana Hebeisen, was able to take me. I get a call Friday night after 7pm (My apt is around 11am the next day) saying that Briana can no longer fit me in (Seemed like she did not want to see me at all due to the fact that I had a gift card I had won). So once again I am scrambling. I get put with someone who I do not know. At 8am the morning of my appointment I get called again to rescheduled with another stylist. I would have loved to know what happen if I showed up for my original appointment. My poor daughter didn't even get her hair cut because I have no idea who would take care of her the way my stylist used to. When I get to the salon the young lady who did my highlights was nice however, she had an assistant she never introduced me to and someone was trying to sell something and was hovering around me. She turned my hair BLUE it was supposed to be blonde and, my highlights are not close to my scalp at all. after a week I need to have them done again. Thank god I did not have to pay for what was probably the worst hair appointment I have had in 5 years. Service at Aura is a JOKE. It seems like they are too busy worrying about opening another location and some school that they can't even keep the clients they do have happy. Even with my stylist leaving I was going to stay with Aura. NOT A CHANCE. Wow I am totally blown away by Aura Hair & Makeup! Everyone is so incredibly knowledgable, accommodating, and friendly here. They have all the latest and greatest hair technology and their facility is absolutely stunning (don't let the outside fool you). I had been box dying my hair for ~5 years until I met Shellie. I started only getting cuts with her. Thankfully she finally convinced me to let her color my hair. It took me some time to commit bc I have had many unfavorable experiences at other salons in the past. It was one of the best decisions that I have made for my hair. Awful spray tan experience. I went there for a spray tan and the previous girl (who was really good) is no longer there. The new girl went ahead and loaded the spray gun with the more expensive rapid tan without asking. She did not give me a Shower cap to cover my hair or the sticky things to protect the bottom of my feet( only a towel to stand on that once you change positions does no good). Most importantly...my tan was uneven. I had lots of streaks. My hands came out two totally different colors. Parts of me looked orange...some white...some tan. During the tan I kept having to remind her to spray areas she forgot. The previous girl had a warm dryer to use this girl had a freezing cold broken fan. It took them over 10 minutes to figure out how to ring up my purchase for me to leave. Little privacy for me to dress to leave. Overall bad experience. About a year ago I stopped by to have my platinum roots touched up and boy, do I regret it!! I walked out with a golden ring around my head and looked completely ridiculous. The second my hair was washed and I could see what was going on, I asked my stylist to please correct it. She complied...sort of. Instead of continuing to lift the color out around my whole head though, she did only the areas I could immediately see - leaving the nape of my neck, and the back of my head with golden splotches. Which is a pretty stupid move, considering the fact that the longer you wait to fix this sort of problem, the harder it is to get your follicles to re-open enough to lift color. Not a single word was spoken to me about the fact that my hair was still golden everywhere else, and she didn't even offer to have me come back in to continue fixing it - a completely unprofessional move. Having been a long-time patron of some of the top salons in Chicago and Minneapolis, I can tell you with all certainty that these stylists are either: 1) Not properly and thoroughly trained, or 2) They simply suck. Save your money, save your hair, and visit another salon with better trained staff. read more

I cheated on my hairdresser of 5 years and I have not regretted it. I came to Aura because my mom was seeing a stylist there. At the time they were running a 1/2 off promotion on Monday's and as an underemployed (at the time) recent graduate...I thought what the hell! I was paired with Noelle, a young hair genius. She is the only stylist i've ever seen that has spent so much time and attention to me and my hair. I don't know what she does but she sees the final product before it ever happens. I have left every single time with the "best hair cut/color ever.." Simply put, she listens, uses her creativity and finds exactly what you want...even if you cannot articulate it. I've had such a good experience with Noelle and the salon that I have sent my sister, fiance, brother and two other friends to go see her and each person has seen her since. In terms of atmosphere...the music is fun, but never too trendy...they offer Parafin wax hand treatments and aromatherapy towels with each session...employ friendly, fun staff and always run fantastic specials. read more

I have come here twice to get my hair colored and both times I have left mad. I show them pictures of the colors I want and they make it the right color but not the right shade i wanted sky blue and they have me green blue. I don't even like the color green and I'm getting kinda mad because they aren't giving me what I'm paying for. I am not normally the one to complain but this is really frustrating! Today was my first time visiting the salon. I'm new to Atlanta so I was anxious to find a place I could get my hair done. One of my close friends gets her hair done here and it always looks amazing, so I came in on good faith. Kelly colored and restyled my whole head that had basically been shapeless for two months. She was incredible! I brought photos and she was above and beyond. I have always wanted cool hair, but due to my job I can't have any of the awesome hair colors I admire. Kelly listened and asked questions and gave me the haircut of my dreams with all the cool and still in my works allowed guidelines. She is very detailed oriented, friendly, and creative. Tried this salon twice, both times with my sister. The first time was a great experience. The salon is nice & very comfortable. The ladies there are all so sweet & friendly. We loved our stylist & our hair when she was done with it. Went back 12 weeks later, to the same stylist & had a much different experience. First she asked if we wanted a deep conditioner... sure, why not? We didn't ask how much, stupid us assumed a few extra bucks. Nope! $20 extra (each) for 4 minutes of deep conditioning. I think that is something she should've mentioned to us when she asked about it. It cost me $60 for a wash, condition & a trim... just a trim! My sister got hers cut & styled, and while it initially looked good. After she got home & brushed it out she discovered it was cut in a large zig zag in the back. She wore it in a pony tail until she had time to go & pay some one else to fix it. read more

She is the number reason I go to Aura Hair & Makeup as she is not only extremely talented with both cut and color, she is also a stylist who takes the time to listen to her clients and find the best style for the person in her chair. With that said, I have enjoyed my time spent at Aura Hair & Makeup since I started going over a year ago. The salon itself has a great energy when you walk in and all of the attention to detail that one would expect like hand massages and herbal towel wraps while you're in the shampoo chair. I've referred a number of friends over the past year who also have enjoyed their experiences. I always get compliments on both my cut and color. AWFUL. I really don't know how this place got great reviews. I had brown hair with a blonde ombre for years and had decided to dye my hair my natural brown color. I was going to buy a box and do it myself but was scared of turning my hair black or orange. I genuinely liked my stylist but after she was done my hair was black. She told me to wash my hair and call back if I still wanted it lighter. I called that night extremely upset and was expecting to be taken in the next day. She told me the next day was booked and I had to wait another day even after begging to be taken. I came in for the fix and by lightening my hair the stylist made it orange. So very disappointed in the experience I had at Aura. My hair dresser didn't show up for my color and cut appointment-another hairdresser offered to step in. When I checked out, she told me she charged a higher rate than my regular girl-they made the mistake and I get penalized. In addition, my root touch up was wrong color-really dark so I had to go back in to get corrected. They charged me for the correction-so unprofessional-will NOT return. read more

I haven't felt comfortable letting anyone cut the top of my hair in years. I talked to a buddy and told me about Finch. It wasn't just a haircut, but a consultation, a shampoo, scalp massage, always takes near an hour. It is amazing, I work A LOT and it is nice to get pampered for under 40 bucks (plus tip) for almost an hour. I have been coming to this salon for about 4 years now. Always felt it was a good experience with the hand and head massage and good haircuts. The last 3 times I came were quite disappointing and I will be looking for a new salon. The first of the last 3 visits, I waited 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment when my stylist finally started my haircut and she then rushed through it. The second of the 3 visits, I was on time and the same stylist told me she had to leave in 10 minutes so she again rushed through my haircut. The third visit, I decided to have color and highlighting done which I had never done here before. I was put under the dryer and when the time went off, I sat there for another 10 minutes until someone else came over to tell me to go to the wash area. I did not receive a hand or scalp massage as it was my own stylist washing my hair and she skipped that. I will say that I did like the color, but it was preposterously overpriced. My bill was almost $300. Not only that, but I had noticed a sign that was posted that said they were selling gift cards for $100 that you could purchase for $80. I attempted to purchase 3 of those to partially defray the ridiculous bill, but the manager on duty could not manage to figure out how to sell me those after 15 minutes and two phone calls. She said the sign wasn't supposed to have been posted and offered me $15 off my bill. As I said, I have been a repeat customer for 4 years; had liked my first two stylists and then had this experience. Overpriced services, personnel who don't know anything about customer service = one less customer. VERY DISAPPOINTING. read more

I was referred by a friend to Sara over 5 years ago, and I have been with her ever since. I often mix up my color, and Sara always gets it right. She saves all of my formulas so that I can always go back to a color I liked. When I came to her, my hair was fried. We cut it off and started over and my hair quickly became healthy again. In an update to my earlier posting, I have no animosity towards this salon other than the fact my hair was ruined and my stylist, Erin, told me that she was "cutting on emotion" when she realized she had not cut it or colored it correctly. Erin immediately had me make an appointment to come back three days later to try and correct the cut/color which I did and it looked worse afterwards. I spoke with the salon and sent them emails letting them know I was unhappy as they had also cut my son's hair the same day and the job was so bad that they didn't charge me. It is highly unprofessional for Tara to have her clients slander me, even though I have never met them. My review stands firm and the salon is very aware that three clients that I referred to them no longer visit the salon due to poor color jobs by the same "Redken trainer" that cut and colored my hair. read more

I love my hair and the condition of it from coming here, as well as the positivity and caring attitudes from the staff. I use Alli for my hair, and Alex for my brows and eyelashes. I leave feeling more knowledgeable about how to style and maintain my hair, and more confident in the way that I look. I've been coming here for over two years and can say I have personally witnessed many amazing transformations walk through that door. Tara, the owner of the salon has always done my hair whenever I am visiting Atlanta. She now has her own salon, and expects only the highest of standards from her staff. I don't know who Kelly is, but the fact that she didn't mention who did her hair or try to see if Aura could fix it, makes me wonder if she just has some anamosity for the salon. Tara has a top Redken color trainer working under her, and tara herself is highly skilled in color.. there is no way they would let anyone leave the salon with bad hair. The best thing is.. that the team offers realistic advice and will work with you if they feel a style you want will not make you look like a million bucks! Trust me.. she has made me change my mind on styles.. and I thank her for it. I even hadher fly to Chicago to do my hair for my wedding! This salon is worth any penny.. oh yeah.. before I forget...the massaging shampoo chairs and head massage are out of this world. I visited Aura about a month ago for a drastic change in my hair color, I wanted to be a blonde! I decided to go to Aura because I couldn't get in at my usual place, I called pretty last minute to get an appointment they were very helpful in that area because I couldn't get an appointment ANYWHERE! I got there and as you walk in, it seems really nice, not top notch fancy but more laid back have gossip at the beauty shop kinda place which I like. I met with my hair dressed she seemed nice, I didn't like the fact she kept calling me babe every five seconds though when we just me. It was strange. I told her I wanted all over color and we looked through some pictures, the normal stuff and figured it out. So I sat down ready to get started, she asked me if I wanted the color packed in, of course I said yes, I don't want it half way done.. I thought that is what we just talked about?? I proceeded to tell her that I tend to wear my hair up a lot so I don't want the top half blonde and the bottom brown. She passively said oh a full set takes a while. I just sat there. It took nearly 4 hours to get my hair done. When we got through washing we went to dry my hair, I could tell the minute I sat down, hair wet and all that I already didn't like it. The more she dried it the more I regretted this decision! The top of my head near my roots was almost bleach blonde I had streaks of almost copper in my hair in 2 certain places, and the color was just all over the place nothing looked right at all. You could even tell she didn't like it, she kept asking me oh do you like it, are you sure? Just over and over again. Needless to say, I went somewhere else the next day and got it redone and it looked way better for a way better price. Overall- It's a nice place I just wouldn't go back. I've been going to Aura for a year now. Sometimes my results are better than others but this past time my hairdresser was juggling between several other customers and I felt that she really wasn't focused on me. This was evident when she finished my hair -- way over highlighted. I specifically requested subtlety. I was asked if I wanted to have a glaze and said no yet it was tacked onto my bill which I didn't realize until a week later when I was reviewing the receipt. Totally my mistake for not catching but I do feel they nickel and dime me. Time to shop around for someone new. read more
