We decided to try Aunty's Kitchen at the recommendation of a friend, so did take out for the weekend. The butter chicken was the best of three dishes that we ordered. It had the right amount of seasoning and texture of sauce. We also tried the Nihari (Beef Curry) because it was advertised as being a 'favourite.' Unfortunately, it was under seasoned, portions were small for the price, and the curry was very oily. The Tandoori Chicken in the Biryani dish was slightly salty, but biryani was fine. The plain naan was not appetizing at all. I gave 3 stars because of the butter chicken and biryani rice. However, the other items fell below expectations. I have been to the Waterloo location years ago multiple times, so when I heard there was an Aunty's Kitchen in Mississauga, I had to check it out! So you first go to the cashier and order what you want, and then pay. The cashier was really nice and answered all our questions regarding the sizing portions of the butter chicken and biryani. We learned that the boneless chicken biryani is actually the same whether it is S,M or L, just that the number of chicken pieces differ. So we ordered the S (4 pieces) of chicken biryani and medium butter chicken with garlic naan (which is an extra $1.25). We ordered it for dine-in, so we got to choose any of the tables available in the restaurant. The food came relatively quick and piping hot. They also gave us a jug of water, which was really nice. Boneless chicken biryani -I loved it. The biryani itself wasn't too spicy but it wasn't bland either. The surprising part was the big pieces of chicken- it was actually pretty spicy! I wasn't expecting but it was a great kick of flavour. The amount of biryani was relatively big. Depending on the person, you could finish it in one meal or you could save it for later and it'll be two meals. Overall, amazing biryani. Butter chicken with garlic naan -Normally I am not the biggest fan of naan but this garlic naan was amazing - was soft and the garlic really helped with the flavour. Butter chicken was pretty smooth and flavourful. Chicken wasn't too chunky and blended well with the sauce. The service was pretty great too. I had servers check up on us to make sure we had everything we needed. One thing I noted was that there was a pretty big group near us, and there was always a server there chatting with them and taking care of their needs. I thought that showed pretty great service, and it was nice to see. The female bathroom was out of order, so I had to use the handicap one. Also, please note that the bathroom door locks by pushing a button - there's no manual lock on the bathroom knob. I highly recommend Aunty's Kitchen. Taste-wise, I'd give them a 3* for their tandoori chicken - the chicken could do with a bit more marination, but at least they were decently juicy and not dry. The rice was a bit too heavily spiced with cardamon for me, but it was well cooked and not soggy. Portion size though was very disappointing. I was charged $18 for 4 small pieces of chicken. That's expensive by biryani standards, for that little meat. I would pay $18 for lamb, but for chicken, I think $14-15 would be a more reasonable charge. Overall, in terms of value, I rate it 2*, because for $18, you can find much more decent fare in Mississauga. read more

Worst chicken biryani in town! Rice is mushy like hell, mouthfeel is like congee. explicitly proven by the photo. 2 big chunk of chicken, c'mon, it is extremely spicy but tasteless. The rice emits a suspicious odor of acidity like being kept overnight then reheated. There is a big board in store saying "10% off for paying cash". I paid cash and the cashier hold onto the original price +tax. I pointed to the board and she asked me " did you pay cash?" while holding the changes supposedly to be given to me. It is hard time now but selling stale food is not wise to keep business running. Hope you could hire a better cook and honest cashier next time. read more

Well soon the order was taken and you pay upfront before being seated so there is no concept on tipping unless you want to-servers bring food to your table and constantly check on you-thus tip must be given in the bowl at the main counter.The service given to us that night was beyond exceptional and I'm actually a bit sad on not asking the servers name-he was quick and kept checking on us.The place has a cool vibe and is clean. But the problem lies in the food.So I ordered The Hyderabadi fish which was fantastic.The kabobs were nice but over spiced.The nihari had a very homely taste but the meat used was so so bad or atleast I got that.The nihari was therefore a complete fail.There was barely any meat and was full of fat.The fries are very good and their garlic mayo is a must try.I also found the salad to be limpy and not fresh which was another bummer.The cucumber all tasted stale.Over all I feel they need to up their food game a notch higher since there are so many Pakistani restaurants around and they need to be the best to be able to survive. I had the pleasure of visiting and trying out everything on Aunty's Kitchen's new brunch menu. I have to say that I am so surprised and pleased by the variety of food. The plaza is off Erin Mills - you can't miss it because it's literally the only plaza for half a KM (just fields). The restaurant is not facing Erin Mills, so you will have to drive to the parking lot in the back to get to the entrance. The decor inside is vibrant and inspiring. It features traditional Pakistani art in a modern way. There are bar stools as well as tables so you can come with a small group or a large group. The menu is so affordable that you're going to want to order a few things to try. It ranges from $7 - $15 and this includes traditional Pakistani food as well as north american inspired dishes like pancakes or nutella stuffed flatbread. They have spicy grilled cheese, fried chicken sandwich as well as a poutine. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I didn't have the best experience here. I came here with a friend for a late night eat around 11:30pm or so. She decided to get the MRD Wrap and I bought some ice cream for later. We order take out because we're planning to go home right away. So 30 minutes pass and I feel like it's taking a while. Other people that came after us started getting their food and I thought that was odd we aren't being served on a first come first serve basis. I inquire about the order and the cashier looks back to the kitchen and asks about it. She tells me to wait 5 minutes. I sit back down for another 15 minutes and I go up and ask again. She pulls the order out of the warming drawer and I get the food. So it took almost 50 minutes just for this take out wrap. Not too knock on their food- but this company totally embarrassed me when it came to a corporate event. My first 1 star review in a looong time. I had ordered for 34 people which is a fairly large group and they sent me 1 full tray of biryani 1 full tray of butter chicken 1 half tray of chana masala 1 half tray of veal vindaloo and 34 naans. This was not enough to feed even 20 people. People were left hungry and i had to order in more food which put me over our budget. To make matters even worse- they forgot to bring plates and forks, we had to make a big fuss about it to get them to buy some from close by. The décor was a wonderful indication that this establishment is owned by respectable liberal Pakistanis. The menu was confusing. Didn't even know where to begin. The choices were occluded and guarded by a sassy cashier. Eventually we settled on 2 chicken biryani, but they said they only had one. We settled for nihari. On the side: butter chicken gravy (they did not understand the word shorba???) We picked up a bottled Shezan (a novelty). We sat. Service was quick. But the staff? They had attitude. Thankfully the khana spoke for itself. We said: skinnies never finish. But we weren't that day (Diet starts tomorrow) Aunty and her kitchen said: "Khao." We finished, slightly guilty, licking saalan off our fingers in a depraved state. Is this what Rousseau meant about the primal nature of man?? This is literally my first 1 star review and here is why... Service: we got seated and ordered right away. The service was horrible! It took just under an hour to get our food and around 35 minutes for our drinks. Although staff was apologetic, they had issues with other tables too, especially the large group of around 10-12 people. In the end a manager named Guru come over and apologized, insisting that we stay and they make us new food. Somewhat outrageous as we already spent 1.5 hours on a Saturday AM when they weren't even packed. He then said to come back another day and we would have a complimentary meal but again, after that experience why would we come back?! Food poisoning and wasting my time are not top priorities when I dine out. Food... Gulab Pancakes: BURNT. We waited 45+ minutes for BURNT pancakes. It was soaked in AUNTY JEMIMA SYRUP. Really? They couldn't use a Canadian or real syrup...even something homemade. Then drizzle with chocolate sauce...honestly a mess. Fried Chicken Sandwich: I've seen some pictures online and it is straight up deceiving. The sandwich was decent but not as big as the pics show. They probably put out the best food for food influencers and content creators to help drive traffic Mango Lassi: it was SPOILED. On the glass it looked like someone poured some out because it had a weird rim. We took ONE SIP and could tell it was spoiled. I pre-ordered for a pick-up on my lunch from work. This place is located close to the Erin Mills exit in Mississauga. However if you're travelling down Erin Mills/Mississauga Rd. you'll have to make a U-turn to get to this restaurant which is a bit annoying. It wasn't busy at all during lunch time. It was decorated really nicely with art work depicting Pakistani's who have made their mark including Dr. Abdus Salam, Nobel Prize Winner and Malala, Advocate for Education for females. Unfortunately, when I asked the cashier who some of the faces on the wall were, he simply didn't know. I had to tell the cashier who Dr. Abdus Salam was (his name was written under the painting of his face) as the cashier had no clue. Maybe educate your employees on who these reputable Pakistani's are. If they don't even know, how will they explain it to the customers? This defeats the purpose of having large paintings of these people on the wall in the first place...No? I ordered the Cheese Naan and Masala Fries. These two of the very few vegetarian options on the menu that were vegetarian. I know Pakistani's are die-hard carnivores but this place needs to move with the times and offer some vegetarian dishes. Maybe channa (chick-pea dishes)? The naan was amazing! This is meant to be eaten on it's own (where as naan is usually meant to be eaten with a curry dish). The masala fries were a serious disappointment. They were under baked/undercooked and not crispy at all. I asked for some sauce for them on the side and got a mayo, ketchup and a green chutney sauce. Came here a few weeks ago with friends. The artwork on the walls reminded of Pakistan instantly. I so wished that there was a teleporting machine which could take me back to the streets of Lahore. I came here to enjoy some of their Halwa Puri nastha (breakfast) and I would say it was greasy and good.The meal came with 2 Poori freshly fried, Halwa (Dessert), Aloo curry (Potatos), Channa curry (chickpea), small portion of Achaar (pickle) as well as an omelette. The entire meal was hot and fresh and served nicely. Although, I would like mention that the dish was costlier than other places. For my 1st visit to Aunty's Kitchen, it was not at all what I had expected it to be. Had heard/read good reviews about it but to me, it was a very disappointing experience. When entering in (on a Sun morning) we found the restaurant somewhat dirty, benches/tables were dusty/not cleaned. Even the floor was dirty/sticky. Didn't want to think much about that and was waiting to try out the halwa puri breakfast we had ordered. Were told the wait would be about 15/20 minutes but was probably just over half an hour of a wait. I kept asking the lady serving of why the delay and she said they're plating it and also they have many other orders (though in the restaurant itself, we were probably one of the 1st couple of customers who came earlier at the time - 11 a.m). If the halwa puri is a special of the day, I would assume it would be ready to serve sooner, as the curries would already be ready and puris would be needed to be fried. Was not happy with the way it was served either and the quantity was minimum. For serving halwa puri breakfast, it's best to serve it 'thali' style as this is not a dish to be eaten with a spoon (except for maybe the halwa), in lil bowls. The chana had no taste in it (would prefer it to be a bit spicy or have an option to request it for a certain spice level), and the chana was all smooshed up (over cooked). The potato gravy was also just a over-cooked with no visible potatoes in it. Halwa was ok but I found it quite sweet and oily. My friend had also ordered doodh pati chai and that was very cold right from the time she was served. I am not a tea drinker and would have like to have an option to have ordered coffee served too but there wasn't any unfortunately. Went here for lunch with my friend to make up for here birthday! Its an order at the counter, take a number and seat type of restaurant. I went around 1pm on a Saturday and the crowds were just leaving. I ordered the multani chana with rice and salad. It came with naan. My friend ordered the butter chicken. The chana's flavor wasnt great, a bit bland as was the rice. The salad had a lot of red onions and pepper. The naan was fresh, thin and chewy which i enjoyed. I was disappointed... i had also ordered the nihari, butter chicken, biryani and daal to go when i first ordered. So wasnt super excited about dinner. I was proven wrong luckily, every dish was flavorful and delicious. Especially the Nihari, thw bf loved the butter chicken. Maybe it was just the chana that wasnt my cup of tea that day. Food: I had quite a lot of variety of food including naan (which is unlimited), poutine, butter chicken, chana (chickpeas), a BBQ platter and a Nutella naan dessert. The naan was really good. I thought they were soft, fluffy and unlike other traditional naans. They had a pizza dough consistency to them. This restaurant takes a lot of pride in their naans so it's featured in various ways. Another highlight was the naan with cheese on top. That was absolutely delicious. I would come back just for that. One of my two favourite dishes included the beef nahari poutine. The beef melted in my mouth and the fries were crispy and the perfect size. I found it to be on the slightly spicier side but really flavourful. My other standout was the chana. It was seasoned well and the chickpeas weren't mushy. The butter chicken was ok although I was slightly surprised that they used white meat. I prefer dark meat with curries/gravies. I thought the BBQ platter was also good but personally, I'm more of a fan of dishes with gravies. By nature, the chicken breast cubes were kinda dry but very well seasoned and great when eaten with the cilantro sauce. I brought my husband a mango lassi and he said it was really good. Service: Great! They were very attentive and made sure we were doing well. I really appreciated them asking us if we wanted more naan instead of us waiting to ask. Overall experience: I think it's a great addition here in the Streetsville/Churchill Meadows area. I would love to come back to have the cheesy naan and the poutine again. We have ordered butter chicken platter and chana masala platter, both are faar better than any other expensive indian restaurants. Their best thing is NAAN(baked bread) which is free or unlimited. Their platters comes with options of salad or fries. The best thing i liked about AUNTYS KITCHEN people is they care about all the customers very well. This is what happens when you hand the kitchen over to bunch of part time cheap labour (international students) rather than having proper chefs/trained staff. The highs: unlimited buttery naan. The service from the one male brown server. Maybe just maybe the nihari. The lows: I just hate seeing red in my meat. Felt the meat in the kebabs and nihari was uncooked but the one server explained it's because their meat is fresh so even when they cook their food well done we'll always see the red. I'm not a professional chef (not yet at least) so I don't know how true this is. But I appreciated his efforts in explaining and he was really the only server who kept asking us how we were doing, and was proactive in making sure we were well taken care of. The mediums: nice casual atmosphere for families. My little niece was hyper after having chocolate for breakfast and no one was giving us strange looks because the place is bustling with its own noise. Service is very fast. This is my second trip to Aunty's Kitchen. I was not disappointed on either trip. Aunty's Kitchen serves Pakistani cuisine with their own twist. The staff is very friendly and very attentive to my needs. The prices were very good and the serving sizes were good as well. I must eat gluten free, and the staff was able to help me get the right food, and to make sure that the food was safe for me to eat. I had the Karachi kebabs, tandoori chicken, and the Chana. The flavours were very good. The meats were very juicy and the coriander chutney they served was out of this world. So after pondering over the idea of whether to go or not, we decided on going to this place. And what a pleasant surprise it was. Starting from the ambience, to the courteous service, to reasonable prices, we had a wonderful experience. Their cheese and spicy chicken naans were great. Safe to say i wont ever return the chicken was extremely dry (it was dark meat, how does that happen?!) the nihari's sauce tasted diluted, rice tasted stale and old, and the naan tasted like it was made days ago, not fresh. I was taken to this place by my boss who eats there on a regular basis. The lunch menu was difficult to figure out. What it boiled down to was chicken, beef or fish. I chose beef. The dish that I got had rice, veggies and butter chicken. The naan was served on the side. The food was fantastic, really, really good. The beef was spicier than I am used to, but I got through it. I think having less spice would have taken away from the dish. Butter chicken was pretty good, but could be spicier. Service was great. They provided water at the table when the heat kicked in.
