I didn't go in, but the outside is so cute, inviting you to their kitchen! Catfish delicious, breading NOT SALTY, you really taste the cat.. nice flavor of hot sauce, amazing coleslaw w/beautiful mayo/vinegar flavor, hush puppies bomb AF, almost like butter, mac and cheese, exactly like Grandma makes it... The greens are grown by there own hands, and were amazing! Tender w/a little bite, Not Glory greens! It's made to order, so you wait a few minutes, but well worth it! Fair price, large portion. I will be back! Ty for the hospitable service as well!

I'm gonna get some of this for home!

This is a quick-service soul food restaurant. They just opened about 5 weeks ago, and there were a couple bumps in the ordering process, but everything else was amazing! It's a TINY lobby, with one high and 2 low 4-toppers. It's divey but new and clean. Counter service had a hiccup with the PoS system, but it all got sorted quickly. Food was served VERY quickly - I had the "A minor" ribeye sandwich. It was AMAZING! They also have a small selection of hot sauces, and I tried the Tabasco sweet & spicy, which added a great extra dose of flavor. Totally not needed, but just extra zing. The staff was very friendly, asking each customer his things were. I have high hopes for this place, and even though 4 miles is at the edge of my lunch range, I will definitely be back!

The biscuits and Honey butter are a true, Southern style treat and loved the little touches, like a warm syrup bottle. The chicken, bacon Belgian waffle I ordered with cheese and scrambled eggs (minus the gravy) was a huge and tasty portion. I took half of it home. Our server was very helpful and polite and made sure to check on us often and ensure we had everything we needed. Love the ease and speed of paying up front, on the way out, where you can purchase additional items, like jams or pancake mix. My only wish was they had Coke products over Pepsi, but otherwise a great place for a casual business or personal meal.

The frappe was also really good. My friend ordered the avocado toast, which she liked, but her caramel macchiato was off at first it tasted mostly like milk with a little caramel. They did fix it though, so I'll give them credit for that. Only downside was she ended up feeling like she got food poisoning afterward. The egg on her dish had a thin film on it, so we're thinking it might not have been fully cooked, which is concerning. Service itself was good and the staff was nice. Parking was also easy, which is always a plus. Good food overall, but that situation definitely threw things off a bit.

Visited Southern Cafe (SC) for Father's Day. Understood it would be a longer than average wait but…read moregiven our previous positive experience, thought it would be worth it. When we arrived, there was no one else waiting and I'd guess that only 75% of the tables had customers. Couldn't have been more wrong in our decision as we waited for over an hour post ordering before we actually received our meal. This is the longest we have waited for breakfast... EVER. Anyone with kids knows having kids sit still and wait with minimal sources of entertainment is hard enough, then add hunger to the equation and it's a recipe for disaster. What could have made our experience better? 1 - Be transparent about your delays upfront -- Empower your diners to make a decision around whether they'd want to wait or not given how busy you are. Don't continue to seat customers when your kitchen is severely behind and hope diners don't notice. 2 - A small gesture goes a long way -- It would have been nice for SC to offer a couple of biscuits given the excessive wait. 3 - Don't add insult to injury... by bringing butter and ketchup 30+ minutes before the meal arrives. It added to the frustration that even my 7yo remarked "what are we going to do with butter, we have no food". They offered more water even when all our water cups were clearly full. Don't really understand how more water would make us less hungry? Looking at another recent 1-star review, I can see the same pattern as our experience. This restaurant clearly doesn't fail gracefully on busy days... and they don't seem to care either. At the conclusion of our meal, we didn't even get the typical "how was your meal" question from anyone. I guess they already knew.

They also feature an extensive craft beer selection. I went with the seasonal Abita Bad Mother Shucker Stout, which was a fun nod to Mardi Gras and a solid stout choice for the occasion. For my entrée, I ordered the Mardi Gras Platter ($32.99). It included: * Choice of soup (I chose the seafood chowder) * Shrimp Creole * Jambalaya * Chicken Étouffée * Crawfish & Shrimp Monica * Broccoli The restaurant was busy, which is understandable for Fat Tuesday, but our food took quite a while to arrive. The soup was delivered at the same time as the platter. In my opinion, the soup should have come out first. Ironically, the seafood chowder ended up being the highlight of the meal--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, by the time I finished the soup and moved on to the platter, most of it was only room temperature. The items were layered and grouped together in a way that made it unclear what paired with what. The chicken was noticeably overcooked and lacked depth of flavor. It tasted as though Cajun seasoning had simply been sprinkled on top rather than developed into the dish. Overall, the platter lacked the bold, authentic Cajun flavor profile I was expecting. The Crawfish & Shrimp Monica was advertised as coming in a bowl but was served in what amounted to a cup-sized portion. The menu description listed Cajun Alfredo sauce, crawfish, crab, blackened shrimp, pasta, Parmesan cheese, and broccoli. After mixing in the Parmesan, I searched for the seafood components and found none--no visible crab, crawfish, or blackened shrimp in the pasta. I mentioned this to the bartender, who said they would bring some out to add in. A few minutes later, three Cajun shrimp were delivered. There was still no crab or crawfish. While the Alfredo sauce and pasta themselves were very good, the absence of the advertised proteins significantly hurt the dish. Had I ordered the Crawfish & Shrimp Monica on its own for $24.99 and received the same portion and lack of seafood, I would have been extremely disappointed. Overall, while the concept and menu sounded promising for Mardi Gras, the execution--especially at that price point--left a lot to be desired.
