I was part of a bicycle group that rode from Maine to Florida this summer, and we had dinner at Aunny's the night we stayed in Georgetown. I believe that this was the best meal we had on the entire trip. For my meal, I had ribs, collard greens, corn and steamed vegetables. On the plus side, the food was good, and the serving sizes did not leave me feeling like I had a food brick in my stomach. The ribs were so tender that the meat was literally falling off the bone. I loved the flavor of the collard greens cooked with ham. The corn was sweet and cooked just right. The service was slow, but we were a group of 15, so we overwhelmed the small kitchen. The cook did a great job, but the waitress could improve. I don't know who the cook was, but we were told that Auny had already gone home. If I am ever back here again, I will definitely stop in. read more

Must try Soul Food in Georgetown SC. Aunny's is authentic, local, and well made. The ox-tail is amazing, and the fried chicken is absolutely Delicious. Also, the mac 'n cheese is better than most restaurant quality mac. Portions are very good, you won't leave hungry. The staff is friendly, and the menu changes daily. Sadly, the cornbread biscuits are dry and flavorless. Also, don't stop in if speed is essential. read more

Hands down.... best southern food in the area- Including myrtle beach. The fried fish, fried chicken, collards and red rice were NO JOKE. The best ever, for real. I got to meet Mama Jane and she told me all about their history and goodies. Aunny really knows how to throw down. The hummingbird cake and coconut pecan pie were a whole other thing. Excellent find! Down home cooking at its finest. We were driving from Charleston to myrtle beach and stumbled on this little restaurant ! My husband had fried chicken and I had hamburger steak (meatloaf). Visited recently and we order the smothered pork chop and the fried chicken as entrees. The smothered pork chop was one of the best I ever had and the fried chicken was very good. A variety of traditional southern sides were offered. Between us we had mac and cheese, cabbage, fried corn on the cob, and potato salad. All were very good. If I could give zero stars I would. Don't come here if you actually want to eat food. To start with they can't keep track of their inventory and orders so after you order something they will run out of it and they will come to your table to make you choose something else. Secondly they forgot to actually make our food, we sat there for almost an hour and we finally left when the table with four people's food came up before mine and my husbands. This is a good place to come when you want home cooked soul food. It's best just to order off of the dry erase board for the specials of the day. Also lunchtime is the best if you are looking for the most variety as they sometimes run out of certain sides as the day progresses. The only reason I took a star off is because of the service. Great home style cooking. Had a special (meatloaf) that came with three sides (large number of choices for side dishes). Portions were generous. Service was good (and with a smile). Came up from a weekend in Charleston on my way back to NC. Stopped at this little family-owned restaurant. This is some great down-home comfort food. I ordered the turkey wing, mac n cheese and collards. Everything was great! The turkey was tasty and juicy. The collards were excellent! The farmer was actually delivering more collards while I was there. He said he doesn't spray his veggies. That's good! Atmosphere was comfortable and clean. Waitstaff was attentive. Stopped by Aunny's for lunch today. A large party was finishing lunch (celebrating a birthday) so the manager (I assume) started singing Happy Birthday and everyone sang along. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with potato salad and butter beans, at the recommendation of our waiter (a very polite young man), it was delicious. My daughter ordered a Cesar Salad with grilled chicken, which she loved. I mentioned to the manager that my daughter just turned 16 so she asked a few other employees out and they sang to her as well. Drove down from Myrtle Beach to try Aunny's. I was a little disappointed. While the fried chicken was perfectly cooked, the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes and the gravy & cornbread were from store bought mixes. Corn muffin tasted just like Jiffy brand. Just plain lazy cooking. I went to try the collards but they are only available on certain days. I would suggest calling ahead as the menu varies from day to day. read more

I cannot imagine how this place got so many good reviews. The tables were dirty, there were dead flowers in a vase on the table, the waitress got our drinks and didn't come back for our order for 10 minutes despite there being only two other occupied tables in the whole place. The corn muffin that came was hot but extremely dry. When we ordered we heard her say "hot food" followed by, "oh hold on just a minute I wanna throw that back in the microwave a couple seconds." Our food was bland. The macaroni and cheese was just yellow bland noodles. The squash casserole was just squash, melted cheese, and grease (and a lot of it). The pulled pork was tough and they had dumped cold store bought bbq sauce over the top of it. My boyfriends meatloaf had store bought brown gravy over it. This was a huge disappointment. The epitome of a little diner in a small town. Food was OK, your typical grey meat burger and crinkle cut fries. The reason for the low review was the overall cleanliness. The ceiling was extremely dusty, the table cloth under the white paper was dirty, the salt and pepper were both caked shut with gunk. The bathroom was gross.
