What a fun place, especially if you live, laugh and love you some Elvis!…read moreI went Labor Day weekend. I can't remember who my waiter was, but he was so sweet! I had originally sat by myself but then this group of ladies I rode over with asked me to sit at their table. Because of them I ended up making friends with some ladies from Europe. Such a blast! Those rolls... Don't get me started on those puffs from heaven haha! The beans! Get the beans! Food was great as well as the atmosphere. Now to Miss. Debbie! Man are you lucky if you get the chance to meet her. She works in the gift shop. She is the SWEETEST lady in the world! Now Miss Debbie, I am coming back in January for Elvis's birthday. I live in Texas , so I am going to bring you a little something from Texas when I come back in January. Everyone needs to experience Marlow's. To the driver- I owe you a tip from the drive back- I had no cash on me :)

The ribs are wet BBQ, not dry rub. Meat fell right off the bone. I didn't even have to pick it up - just used my fork. My friend got the BBQ chicken - we both bought barbecue sauce in the gift shop after this meal! It was so good. The potato salad - excellent. Fries - excellent. But the star was the mushrooms - they are whole and come in their own gravy. If you are from New England, get the mushrooms AND the fries, and enjoy them together just like old school fries and gravy. Pure decadence! Our server V was too fabulous. She knew the ropes and served us so well we even got a photo with her afterward. Super great tourist spot with good food - totally worth it!

This is a fine dining steakhouse, and while upscale, it is not pretentious. I felt very welcomed--the hospitality here is stellar. Also, they let you take your time and linger over a meal, which I love. Our server, Gia, was absolutely amazing. If I ever return, I'm sitting in her section. She is an absolute delight. Gia was kind and knowledgeable and really made the evening. I loved the butcher cart and enjoyed being presented with a beautiful selection of knives to chose for dining. The bread and butter is delectable, as is the lobster bisque. I ordered a cup, which was big, but I recommend a bowl. It was velvety and rich, and you'll want more bread for dipping. I ordered a steak from candy-finished cattle, which was delicious. The sear was perfect and Gia recommended a wine that proved a worthy accompaniment. However, dessert was a showstopper. A strawberry-shortcake inspired baked Alaska is the most "me" dessert ever. I will never not order baked Alaska, and I am obsessed with everything strawberry. This dessert was not only gorgeous, but incredible. It might be my favorite dessert ever. This was truly one my more pleasurable meals and dining experiences. If visiting Memphis again, which is a goal, I would absolutely return.

Driving from Oklahoma City to Maryland sounds absolutely insane (because it kind of is), so when we…read morefound ourselves passing through Memphis around lunchtime, I turned to my trusted Yelp experts to help us find a local gem. Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

Love the kitschy country decor and mis-matched coffee mugs. All the servers were so friendly, and the food was really good. My only issue is that we arrived at 9am and the brunch menu was up on the board, but you can't order from the brunch menu that early...so that was confusing. I tried to get the Grown Up Chicken Tenders and they said that wouldn't start until 11am. However, they did make me a kids' chicken tenders and fries (so literally, it was the Grown Up Chicken Tenders just minus one tender). Accommodating and awesome, but definitely still confusing.

Many ordered the skate with brown butter which was world class. After dinner, 1 client remained due to difficulty getting Uber. He ordered a drink and was told the register was closed. I quietly asked the owner if he could offer the drink on the house, and he declined. Had he been more accommodating, ACRE would have been at the top of the list for a substantial number of subsequent business dinners. My fiancé and I decided we would give Acre another try last week. We ordered the striped bass entree for $49. When the dish arrived there was what could only be described as two scraps of fish: One piece was less than a half inch thick and about 4 inches long, and after some searching, we found a second piece about half that size. I have never seen a striped bass small enough to yield a filet that thin. We asked the server to ask the kitchen if that was intentional or if there was a mistake. We were hopeful that a "do over" would result in the entrée described on the menu. Unfortunately, the server was clearly not in our court. Her attitude was passive /aggressive or at best indifferent. Despite specifically asking what the chef had to say, we received no visit or even feedback from the kitchen. What could have been handled with a laugh and a new or different entrée selection, quickly became uncomfortable. Hindsight is 20/20, but we should have considered our first bad experience a clear message that the culture at Acre is not a fit for us. We will not be back.

It's a…read morecomfort food for some, and the last thing you want is some prude turning their nose up at your sticky fingers and saucy mouth. (a very slight double entendre lol) We went around noon. I feel like there are pros and cons with going earlier in the day. Everyone normally puts on their best face first thing in the morning, so usually the service and food have no reason to be terrible. The downside is the possibility of getting yesterday's dinner for today's breakfast/lunch, but luckily not every restaurant is like that. Upon entry, it could use a little update, but the interior is clean and spacious. COVID protocols are still in place, so dining in isn't really encouraged. It was a bit of a mixed message, as the sign by the door said no but the signs on the tables said yes. We went to order, and we asked the cashier. She was very nice about it, and said that it was fine that we dined in. There were only 2 to go orders and then there was us. We all decided on sandwiches, both pork and beef brisket with sides of baked beans and coleslaw. The brisket was really good. It was tender, and the pork was also tender. The baked beans were also good, and I liked that they weren't super sweet. The coleslaw was...odd. There wasn't much slaw on the sandwich, but as a stand alone side it was...really soggy. I know coleslaw isn't supposed to be dry. I don't know if it was frozen then thawed, but it was unusually wet to be coleslaw. There is a lot to choose from ranging from traditional BBQ, small or large sandwiches, or even loaded potatoes. I feel like pricing is reasonable, but it mainly depends on how MUCH you want. I'm going to peg it between $7-20 individually, with a full dinner being towards the $20 end of the scale. Memphis has a lot of BBQ places to choose from, and it's always good to try others and support local.

Moody lighting, low rumble of noise and music you enjoy but don't notice. My kinda place. Rye was our server and she was excellent. Not only top-notch recommendations but also let us know about the tasting menu- I can't wait to come back to try the off-menu one they do the last Wednesday of every month. We got raw oysters to start and chose the seasonal preparation. It was almost like frozen lemonade crème fresh, but with the brine of the oysters it just worked. Would def order again! We started with a whiskey sour and AM old fashioned. Both great but mine was so good my husband ordered another round of them for us before we got a bottle of red. I don't recall what bottle it was but it worked perfectly as it wasn't too heavy and swung easily from apps/pasta/entrees. Then we opted into the blind tasting menu. 5 courses, chosen from the menu that you don't know what you're getting until it touches the table. My husband and I are pretty adventurous as far as food goes so it was perfect for us. No shit- Everything was amazing. I loved the tasting menu as it was not any dishes we were considering and I am so glad we got to try things we wouldn't have otherwise. For example, the little asparagus appetizer was the best thing we ate, on God. Like, what in the actual F ! The kind of magic they created with those little green veggies was out of this world --I didn't even want to swallow it was that delicious. There was some kind of fish crudo with beet and kumquat relish. Weird and so good! We also had some pasta with a lemon-y butter sauce and spinach and then a chicken entree. I was getting so full by the time entrees came I ate less than half of it but the skin was crispy, chicken was cooked to perfection and husband finished them both. Now yall, the dessert was a heavenly little pot of rich chocolate with a caramel base and crunchy honeycomb crisp on top. I was so full I couldn't finish it but my husband finished his and then mine. We also ordered a little affogato and it was perfect to finish the meal. I will absolutely be back and look forward to trying their other restaurants in the near future!!!

My favorites were the Foccia bread (very buttery), the lemon chicken and the gnocchi. The ambience is a nice candlelight dinner for a cute date night or special event. The menu is rotating with the seasons, a bit on the pricier end, which is expected, but really wasn't too bad for such high quality.
